Nix chuckled softly at Ari's reaction. "When do you want to go, sweetheart?" he asked, taking one of her hands and linking their fingers. Nix was glad the parents paid for weddings and not him. Ali sometimes wanted wine on a beer budget.
Ali shrugged and looked at Ari," I want to get it over with... I'm not the girlie girl like she is.. If I can get away with not having to wear high heels I'll be just fine." Arielle answered Ali smiled," and that is why you can wear flip flops like you want." She told her sister who smiled and said," Yup I like you again.... Please tell me I don't have to wear pink.... If I do I may not like you again."
Ali shook her head," Nope you get to wear a light blue ish green dress."
Nix raised a brow at the girls. He hadn't seen Ali this happy in a while. Having her sister around seemed to make her happier. For him, it was driving him insane. "Flip flops? Interesting." he said with a slow nod. "Why don't we go now and have an early lunch then go dress shopping?" Nix suggested after listening to them banter.
Ari looked back at Nix," What? I don't like being uncomfortable and heels are awful so I'm not wearing them I mean unless Ali really wanted me to." She answered. Ali nodded," I like that idea Nix." She replied
Ari wondered if she would ever be able to look at Ali with Nix and not want to tell her everything she was feeling for her soon to be brother in law
Phoenix nodded. "Alright then. We'll go whenever you girls are ready." he said, pecking Ali's lips then going to the bedroom to get his keys and wallet. He slipped the items into his pockets and went back out, scratching at his beard scruff.
Ali nodded,"'okay you ready now Ari?" She asked. Arielle nodded a little bit," yeah I just have to get my purse from my car."
She answered
Nix looked over at the girls. "I'm gonna wait outside." he said after he had put on and laced up his boots. Nix went out and got in his truck, turning it on. He sat half in his seat and let one foot dangle out of the driver's side as he waited for them.
Ali stayed in the house for a whole longer as Ari ran out to her car which happened to be parked beside Nix's truck. "You actually managed to get my sister in that?" She asked staring at his truck
Nix laughed. "Not without some help for a while. Until she got the hang of it, I helped her in." he said jumping out and opening the back seat door for her then looked over at her. "Do you need help?" he asked politely, raising a brow at her.
Ari smiled," I still can't believe you got my princess of a sister in here even with help." She answered laughing a little," No I don't need help my dad used to have a truck like this." She answered then froze," ohh shoot." She muttered," forget I said that." Ali walked out of the house," Ari what's wrong?"
Nix shook his head. "It's fine, Ari. I'm not a pusher." he said then looked over at Ali. "Where've you been, woman?" Nix teased her, passing her as he went to the drivers' side. He knew when to let things be. "Are you going to sit in back with Ari, sweetheart?" He asked Ali.
Ari nodded slightly," maybe it's a good thing you aren't." She answered softly. As she started to get into the truckAli smiled," sorry I couldn't find the shoes I wanted." She replied," Im going to sit with Ari."
She answered looking at the girl who looked nothing like her. She couldn't help but feel a little bad that she had been thinking about Ash in a way that she probably shouldn't have
Phoenix rolled his eyes. "You women. Have twenty pairs of shoes and then some." he said as he got into the drivers' seat and started his truck. Nix pulled the seatbelt across his chest and clicked it in. "Are you two ready?" he asked, meeting Ari's eyes in the mirror for a moment.
Ali smiled," But I needed the ones that I have on not just any pair." She answered looking at him with a smile.Ari glanced up as he started his truck and met his eyes for a second before she looked down. She wondered if they would ever just be able to talk because Ari wanted to know if Nix felt it too.
Ali nodded," Yup we are ready."
Nix smiled and pulled out of their little parking space. He was silent while he pulled out on the highway. When on the highway, he reached into the glove compartment and took out a folded piece of paper. It had obviously been used multiple times by the eraser marks across it. There were penned numbers from 1-10 on it. Nix handed it and a pencil to Ali. Every time they went out, he had her put where she wanted to go in what order and said order couldn't be changed when she handed it back to him. "Fill it out." he said.
Ari leaned over and looked at what Nix had handed to Ali," what is that for?" She asked staring Ali took the paper and pencil from Nix's hand." Oh it's so we both know where we are going and in what order." She replied starting to write down the bridal shops names at the top. "So do you want to go to the bridal shop then eat and then look for accessories or do all of our shopping then eat lunch?" She asked looking at Ari.
"I would like to eat between something." Ari answered. "So maybe look for dresses and shoes then eat then the rest." She stayed
Ali nodded," alright sounds good to me." She said as she wrote down everything they were going to do
Nix drove silently as he listened to them decide where to go and when. He smiled softly. Most guys would hate this stuff but he loved seeing Ali happy. His smile faded as he looked at them in the mirror. Nix knew he shouldn't be attracted to Ari but every time he looked at her, he felt in a pull. Nothing like what he had felt with Ali when they'd met. Nix turned his gaze on the road and gripped the steering wheel.
Ari kept her head bent close to her sister's as they talked deciding where to go.. Well really it was Ali deciding where to go and Ari just going a long with it. Ali happened to look up as see how tightly Nix was gripping the steering wheel," Phoenix."
She said softly," you are going to break the steering wheel again." She told him
Ari looked up too," are you alright?" She asked
Phoenix immediately lessened his grip and relaxed his face. "Yeah, I'm fine. Just a little lost in thoughts." he answered, smiling at Ali via the mirror then looking back at the road. Nix had indeed broken the steering wheel once but for a totally different reason. He sighed and ran a hand through his hair as he drove, passing a third exit. "Are you finished with the list yet?" Nix asked them.
Ari nodded slightly." Ohh well alright then." As answered looking ad him. Ali smiled back at him and nodded," okay well the list is done now." She said handing him the list back and then putting the pencil in the cup holder like she always did
"Why did you start doing that whole list thing?" Ari asked looking at them and figuring Nix could use a different distraction. It was almost like she could tell something was up just by looking at him
Nix took the list and read it quickly. Grumbling that she somehow managed to fill the whole thing. Nix looked back at the road and speedometer after tossing the list ion the passenger seat. "A few months after we started dating. I quickly learned she doesn't make her mind well so I decided to make it easier. I've lost track of how many copies of that I've printed." he said with a soft chuckle.
Ari laughed a little bit at his explanation," you should have met her when mom an dad got mar....." She cut off at the look she was receiving from her older sister. Ali shook her head slightly her dark eyes saying what she would not say.
"Nevermind." Ari muttered softly but said," you should tell him before I accidentally do."
((Hmmmmm... O_o Trying to figure it out..)) Nix hadn't heard their parents mentioned this much, aside from the wedding, ever. He shifted his hold on the steering wheel then looked back at them. "Would you guys mind if I turned on some music?" he asked the two, who were stilling talking quietly. It made him oddly nervous and he tapped one finger against the wheel.
((You will not figure out with I have planned....))) Ali shook her head a little bit," nope I don't mind at all." She replied softly
Ari shrugged," it's your truck do what you want." She answered looking up and at him for a second. She could just feel his nervous energy even though she couldn't really see his tapping fingers
Nix nodded and turned on some music, keeping the sound on the lower side. He was quiet as he pulled off the highway and towards their first stop. Nix parked in front of the store and turned off the car. "Would you prefer I go in with you?" Nix asked Ali. He really didn't want to but he would do whatever made her happy.
Ali and Ari say in the back and talked quietly about what Ali should do and if she should tell him now or wait til later. Once at the bridal shop she looked at Nix and shook her head," it's fine you can go off and do whatever you want as long as you are back in 2 hours." Ali said looking at him
Ari nodded slightly knowing that he didn't want to go into the store with them... She didn't want to go in either
Nix smiled at her. "Don't worry, I'm just going to stay out here." he said, unbuckling his seatbelt to stretch and run a hand through his hair. "And carry your own boxes this time." Nix he told Ali, only somewhat playing. Nix fished out his wallet and handed her the credit card his father had given him to use for things on the wedding. "Don't go crazy." Nix told her and leaned back in his seat.
Ali rolled her eyes a little as she got down from the truck. She giggled softly," you wouldn't make me carry my own stuff or you wouldn't be you." She replied looking at him as Ari got down from the truck. "Wow you telling Ali not to go crazy in here is like putting you with your favorite food and saying you can only have a spoonful." She stated
Nix chuckled and shrugged. "It's works sometimes. Other times I wonder what I've gotten myself into." he said jokingly as they got out of his truck. Nix rested his head against the seat and closed his eyes. "There's only five thousand dollars on that." he warned them, only cracking an eye to look over at them.
Ari laughed a little bit," I'll keep her from spending too much." She answered as Ali just shook her head," you guys are both not very nice." She muttered with a soft laugh as Ari pulled her into the store
Nix chuckled and laid back in his chair. He closed his eyes and threw an arm over them, falling asleep not long after they had gone inside. Nix often just stayed in the truck and napped when she did these things.
Arielle and Alissa walked around looking at different styles of dresses for Arielle. Although she didn't really care Ari let Ali do the picking and she just tried them on. Once they found a dress they got it and walked back out to te car two hours later
Nix was laying back in the seat, eyes closed with his hands folded over his stomach. He stirred and readjusted when he heard the women come out with their stuff. "Find what you want?" he asked through the rolled down window.
Ali nodded," yeah we did... Did you have a nice nap Phoenix?" Se asked as Ari opened the back door as hopped in. Ari sighed," I'm so glad we are out of there." She muttered
Nix smiled. "Yes, I did. Have a good time dress shopping?" he asked as he drew his seatbelt over his body then buckled in. Nix's smile grew a bit when he heard Ari's comment.
Ali nodded," Yeah It was really fun right Ari?"Ari nodded slightly," sure lots of fun sis."
She replied
Nix raised a brow but didn't say anything. He started the truck and rested his hands on the wheel. "Tell me when you're ready." he said then reached over and picked up the list. "Shoes are next." Nix announced.
Both Ali and Ari said "ready" at the same time and then started giggling a little bit. Ari nodded," I know but I get to help Ali pick her wedding shoes." She answered softly looking at her sister like she would honestly do anything to make her happy.
Ali laughed," sure and we have to find you some nice flip flops or something to wear too"
Nix chuckled and pulled out the parking lot, determined not to his anyone although it was hard to see. He drove through the town to their next shop and parked in front of it. "Stop number two, only eighty more places to go." he said teasingly to Ali.
Ali and Ari continued to talk in the backseat not really paying attention to where they were going right then. Ari's eyes kept wandering towards Nix though and she tried very hard not to look at him too often. "Ohhh shut up I didn't pick that many places." Ali answered pushing the door open
Nix laughed softly and found himself watching Ari as she gout out of his truck. Despite Ali being the princess, Ari seemed to have a fluidity that Ali didn't. He shook his head and ran a hand through his hair. What was he doing?
Ari slipped out of the truck. "If she comes out alone it means I've died of being over shopped." She told him causing Ali to laugh. "I won't kill you with shopping." She answered
Nix grinned in response and laid back in his seat like before, intent on spending their shopping time relaxing. He linked his fingers behind his head and watched them go inside then mill about as he could see through the storefront windows.
Ali dragged Ari around not really noticing that Nix was watching them. Ari could somehow feel his gaze on her and she looked over to see him through the window. She was nodding slightly to something Ali was talking about but she was still slightly staring out the front window. Ali pulled her arm gently leading her away from the front of the store
Nix watched Ari turn and look out the window, knowing he was caught but he didn't do anything about it. He didn't act embarrassed or quickly looked away. No, the feelings pulling him to her is what kept him from looking away. Nix knew he would have to talk with Ari soon. See if she felt it like he did.
Ari nodded," ohh right I forgot about that part." She muttered tearing her gaze from Nix and looking back at her sister
