What is the proper way to add a book if it is a collection of several works of literature?

I have four volumes of the 1948 edition of The World's Greatest Literature - Fiction books, as published by the National Educational Alliance, Inc. I am trying to add these books to my Owned Books shelf, but I cannot find an easy way to outline what stories are included in the volumes. Should I be listing each volume as a separate book? And am I only able to list the titles of each piece of literature work in the comment section?

What would be the most appropriate way to handle this?

Yes, list each volume as a separate work. (First check to make sure they aren't already in the database.)

The table of contents would go in the DESCRIPTION section.

However, you shouldn't use the description field to explain why you put something in the description field ("I did this").

Also you should only add the edition to the edition field (second, fifth, etc.) if the title page or information at the front of the book clearly states it's that edition. A series of copyright dates in the book's publication information may not be referring to the volume as a whole, but to individual pieces in the volume. Example: if Truman Capote publishes a short story collection in 1962, it might have copyright dates which are earlier than 1962, because individual stories were published in magazines in earlier years.

Were these published initially as a collection or as was each volume published separately?

These were published as a collection, but I only have a portion of the collection.

If they were published solely as a collection, then the collection as a single item should be added to the database, rather than each volume separately.
