Hello Mods! I have enjoyed myself to the extreme while I have been in the group but have found there are so many threads (over 800 unread ones going on from my end) that I am having a hard time keeping up let alone finding a way to respond to others. Is there a way to consolidate things even more?

I have no idea, but if you find it, let me know! I try to keep up on stuff, but damn it's a lot!
Glad I am not imagining all of this then!!! I seriously thought I may be having post book release nightmares or stress disorder that made every thread I had previously commented on disappear!!!
It's bound to happen and just get worse. With 2,184 (and rising) members, you're just not going to be able to follow every thread.I don't know a good way to keep track of the ones you've commented on...but just don't go crazy and have the group set up to send you a notice every time there's a post!
Micah wrote: "I don't know a good way to keep track of the ones you've commented on...but just don't go crazy and have the group set up to send you a notice every time there's a post!"Why not? That's how mine is set up. :P
So do I, but it doesn't catch EVERYTHING, close, but not all. Besides GG, from what I've seen of Goodreads, you're EVERYWHERE! But I mean that in a good way, because you're one of the truly genuine people on here. You may not like what someone says, but you say it so nicely!

He he...but some of us can't live our lives plugged in 100% of the time.
I just click on unread for the interesting threads, and any that I've commented on will reappear as soon as someone else comments. If no comments follow my own, I just assume that my comment wasn't interesting enough to elicit a response, and I can forget about it.
Hi Everyone, we're working on more folder organization, I promise. The biggest issue is that yes, there are six of us, but we are all authors with our own jobs and lives to deal with as well as this group. I have been taking similar threads and grouping them into folders. We don't like having to close threads, but if we get too many that are the same as threads we already have, we will lock them. Right now, all we ask is that everyone make a group effort and search if a topic is already being discussed before starting a new thread.
Thanks for having patience with us.

I was wondering why I didn't have time to write anymore, and could only immerse myself in a book when on my cheap kindle without email add on. Now I know. :)
You're right, it doesn't catch everything and if you delete a message without first clicking on it, you may never receive notifications from that thread again. It all depends on the settings.

You mean that some of us, or rather i should say some of you guys, are bright enough to avoid being stuck, hooked on the Goodreads IV?
Ok! My name is GG and I'm a goodreads addict. There, I admitted it. (But shoot, I'm proud of it!) :P
I'm a goodreads addict too GG :) though it is being rivalled by a Twitter addition recently. Ken what is this 'click on unread'? I am always losing track on threads I have commented in.

So ... What are the Goodreads IV? I'm curious now.
The line that goes from Goodreads to your arm (figuratively), kind of like in the hospital, except without the needle of course. ;) (IV as in intravenous)I need mine. If not to keep me alive, it certainly helps keep me happy. I go ballistic when GR's email notifications stop working.
(I was reading that as if they were Roman numerals. Just what is The Goodreads Four? A gang of literary Banditos?)Thanks for the reply! Keep strong in the face of digital adversity.

haha Yeah, I had the same thought after I hit enter.
If it would have been roman numbers, I'd have had to type GR's VI: The Goodreads Six, as in a gang of Six Fabulous Moderators on Support for Indie Author discussion group. ;)
Let's make it 7 with the 7th being the 7th daughter of a seventh sister, with the power to book whack from miles away!

That sounds like a good idea for a book.

Book Whack? What does that mean?
While you're thinking of the answer, let me hijack this thread to tell you about my new book...

I always imagine a Bookwhack comes with that same sucker punch sound effect they use in the Sonic* commercials. *It is worth noting that the very first word my Kindle Fire suggested after I typed "sonic" was "screwdriver."
Micah wrote: "I don't know a good way to keep track of the ones you've commente..."I recently discovered that every post you make in a group is available under the little "recent posts" link at the right end of the bar that says "My Groups". You don't seem to be able to search it, which kinda sucks. They are in date order also.
In a given group, you can find all your posts by searching your GR name. That is also a bit cumbersome.
Christina wrote: "*It is worth noting that the very first word my Kindle Fire suggested after I typed "sonic" was "screwdriver."That sounds like a weird cocktail. I think that should "radioactive sonic screwdriver". (Sorry, it's late.)
I wonder how many words have been written in this group since inception? I'd guess maybe 2 million? (Almost certainly more than a million?)

GR "just ain't equipped for this". The architects of this site (speaking professionally) seemed to have designed it for random chatting and insubstantive blather: not serious discussions providing useful data that people would actually want retrieve long (like 3 wks) after the fact.
Given the paucity of tools you have to work with, you're all doing an exceptional job. You all deserve to take a bow, grab a stiff drink, and kick back a bit. :-)

When you click on the group you can scroll down to Discussions. To the right you'll see Topics: all | new | unread

Please note that we are considering putting together our very own website. . .but that requires funds. So we are working on it. We're open to suggestions on what you'd like to see included!

Actually no. ; )
That should maybe read: "One can see every post one makes..."
Lol, OK I gotcha. Glad I am not alone at least in wondering how to keep track of everyone while micromanaging myself :-)

V.M. - how do I find this on Facebook?
In the facebook search, type in Support Indie Authors and look for our graphic. Or, just follow the link here
