Well, I've made it through these next sections and am ready to begin the penultimate discussion. (Word of the day: penultimate.)

It is not an understatement that the title of book 6 is "And the plot thickens."

Things are happening fast and furious as we approach the end of the book. Lucy and Edward continue their investigations, looking into the strange stuff relating to their fellow seance attendees, including Mr. Barnum. People are connected in ways unexpected, including the unfortunate Sophie, whose body we found in the beginning of the book. We also find the connection to the bees found in the former Willoughby house.

I have been trying to puzzle things out by seeing if I can connect a person with all of the various parts of the mystery, now so disconnected. Clearly someone who knows a lot about the Philadelphia mediums (and fakes,) who knows about Edward's Mother and Lucy's Declan, and has a connection to the Willoughby's bees. I have an idea, but will keep on this till the final book discussion where spoilers will be permitted!

Jill Tool | 992 comments I wonder if we will learn more about Lucy's past and her husband. She seems awfully private about that. And I think I need to go and show Thomas a few of my side kicks!

I've allowed this book to consume me! I've really enjoyed this book and it's such a nice change from the other books we've read. Not that there was anything wrong with them, but this was such a refreshing read.

Yes, it is, Jill. Thing is what does one read next after this most excellent mystery caper. :-/

I'm wondering if a spoiler is okay to launch, Pghfan for I think those who are involved in this read and discuss are past this point. Maybe even finished with the book. If marked as Spoiler Alert, I think it'd be fine. But you are the host. I will follow your lead. ;-)

Pghfan,

I was finding it hard to find some connection with this as well, but the way the author wrote it, it didn't distract me, or spoiled the fun of reading it. In fact I think it made it to where I wanted to continue reading to see if any little hints would be dropped. I'm starting to like Inspector Barclay more and more, there for a while I really thought he was going to try and pin this on Edward and not try and help him clear his name. BUT I can understand how he could give any details about what he had found out to Edward and I understand why he was angry with them for visiting the others.

I'm not happy at all with Edwards butler, he needs to remove that stick out of his arse or I'll do it for him!

Lucky for him, the butler addressed this all on his own!

Jill Tool | 992 comments that he did! I was so glad he made the choice to leave, and Edward wasn't the least bit unhappy about it either
