This is the second book in the Accursed Kings series. These stories were originally in French and tell the story of the Capet royal dynasty in the 1300's. They were very scandalous and ruthless. There are seven books in the series but I am not sure if I will read more. Some of the writing was awkward, possibly because of the translation.
