Hello, please add page number (690 total pages) to this book, on my "Currently Reading" shelf. Many thanks! Amazon lists 704 pages, but that's including Editor's notes, etc. The last page of the book is numbered 690. World Cat also lists the book at 690 pages. -eric
I don't know, Lethe. I was wondering the same thing last night. Amazon lists the page count as 704. I have the hardcover copy of it (currently reading) and the last page is numbered as 690. Since World Cat has it listed as 690 pages, I figured that was the official page number. But I haven't done the library work at GR enough to know for sure. I will leave that decision up to those with more experience.
Hi Lethe, on further research, I just located this article, which states, "Introductory material paged using roman numerals is not included in the total page count." The intro material in my book is in roman numerals, so I think the 690 is the correct page number count.
I was asking you what the page count was including all the text at the end. That is the correct page count. GR, alas, chooses not to follow the international library rules for this.
Let's see, I'm looking through my book as I type this. The title page through table of contents pages, along with Editor's Notes are numbered as pages i-xii. Then the book begins, with "Introduction" as Page 1. The "Epilogue" begins at page 475. "Acknowledgments" begins at page 527. "Appendix" begins at page 533. "Notes" begins at page 588. "Bibliography" begins at page 653. "Index" begins at page 679 and continues to last page of book, which is numbered as 690.
Well, I did learn a few new things from you, Lethe, so, many thanks for your help. I live near Anniston, Alabama and so I'm very anxious to learn more about this tumultuous time in history.
