Hi KristineWhat a shame you will miss the play - but thanks for your kind and optimistic words about the West End! It could indeed happen - we have a lot of interested from West End theatres. Also the play of my novella, The Perfect Murder, which had a sellout tour last year looks like it might go to the West End in 2016 - keeping all crossed! Re Sandy there have been some major developments in Want You Dead, (Book 10) and You Are Dead (Book 11) and even more so in Book 12 which I'm currently writing!

Hi Kristine I did post a reply to our kind email but it seems to have fallen off the radar!!! So sorry you will miss the play and thanks for your lovely optimism about the West End. We do have serious interest from several theatres, so it may well happen. Re Sandy there are some big developments in You Are Dead, and further in the one I'm writing right now.... :-)

My feeling was that I didn't expect Ashley to turn out the way she did. I didn't catch on and that made the book even better for me. I guess I'm slower than other people here.

OMGosh! I have to go to bed or I won't be able to get up for work in the morning but I don't want to stop reading. I'm loving the book so far Peter. I started Sunday evening and I'm on chapter 49. At parts while reading I can feel my heart thumping. Night all! Maybe I can read a couple chapters with my coffee before I get ready for work.
HI KristineI'm sorry about the delay in replying - I've posted a reply twice and each time it has disappeared from here, so not sure if you've seen it! There is quite a development re Sandy in You Are Dead....! And in the new one I am writing..... Love your optimism about the play reaching the West End - certainly there is some serious interest, so maybe...! All my best, Peter
Earlier, there was a comment that Michael is a victim. I'm wondering if people feel the same way about Mark.
Hi Peter,All three of your replies are showing in the thread. Thanks for your response. I'll have to get caught up in the series. I've got Want You Dead ready to start.
Thanks for being part of the group. Really enjoy your books.
Just want to make sure if anyone is having problems posting to this thread.
So, was there anything that surprised you the most about Dead Simple regarding the characters?
:( The bad news is I haven't been able to get a copy from the library, there's only one copy available and it's still going to be reserved until after the end date for the read......poop :(
Christine wrote: "Oh that stinks Sharon"Yes Christine, it does. Never mind, I will get to read it eventually.
On this note, I think it's great that all of Peter James' books are available now, especially on Kindle. At one time, several books weren't available, including the early books. One person commented on Kindle that the books in the middle weren't available.
Part of me doesn't understand that. Liza Marklund is a good example since her latest books are available in the US but her early books still aren't available yet. Why read a series if you can't start from the beginning?

Hi Kristine, thanks for yours. Just one point, everyone, about the Roy Grace books being a series. They are all written as standalones, but there is one ongoing thread throughout them of the small but emotional (for Roy Grace) subplot of what happened to his wife Sandy, who went missing 9 years earlier, on his 30th birthday. With each book I add a little to the mystery, steadily moving it forward. But other than that you would not miss anything by starting at any point in the series. All best, Peter.
Thanks. I did not realize that.
Hi Peter,Speaking of "series", I keep hoping to see the Roy Grace books as a tv series. Read last year about Hugh Bonneville maybe playing the lead - now that Downton Abbey is completed, perhaps that may happen?
Christine wrote: "Sharon I think you can find that book in walmart or in target"Thanks Christine, I'm sure you are right, but I'll just wait for the library copy I think :)
I finished this book late last night and Wow what a great book Peter! Like my review says I had not heard of your work before this book being our selection and I'm so happy I have been introduced it. I can't wait to get to the next one.
Hi Kristine, typing this from Toronto airport heading home to the UK from New York via here. Came here to see my wonderful 94 year old uncle, who has been online dating looking for a new wife after his second passed away! Love his spirit! Yes, Dead Simple - and the whole Roy Grace series is in development for TV. Hugh Bonneville would love to play the role but a lot of people feel he is too old for the part - as Roy is coming up to his 39th birthday. Would love your view and the views of all of you on this.
Congratulations Peter. I hope that we will see it very soon.
The only name I can come up with is Ricky Gervais instead of Hugh Bonneville.

Hi Peter,Hugh B. is only 51! I think he'd be great as Roy Grace. He has a kind, thoughtful style and looks great.
I've seen a lot of detective series and find myself thinking only of people who have already played a detective! I did see Mark Strong on stage recently and was very impressed. He'd be excellent as Roy. Personally, I don't think age matters much - 51 seems young to me at this point. Certainly young enough to have a child 10 or so.
David Leon played a Sergeant in "Vera" but has left that series. He has a thoughtful, broody sort of style and is younger.
I'm looking forward to seeing it whoever plays the lead.
All the best.
I forgot about that Kristine. I agree with you.
Has anyone been seeing the great stories through Google News on Dead Simple? Here is an example. Congrats Peter. I didn't know there was so much out there on this.

Well, we only have one day left with Peter James. Anyone have any further thoughts.
I have to say that this was a tremendous book and certainly one of the best books I have read this year. It's going to be hard to top. I have already put Looking Good Dead on my Kindle Wishlist.
Peter, thanks for coming. Appreciate the opportunity to have you here. I look forward to reading more of your books.

This has definitely been one of my top 5 reads of the year so far! I'm anxiously waiting to get to the next one once I get through with a few more group reads for this month. My husband said he could tell how much I was enjoying this one as just about every day I kept telling him something about it in my super excited voice.
I too, enjoyed this book. I had never read anything by you before Peter, so I am so glad this one came up as a group read. I will definitely look for me. Thank you for sharing with us this month.
Hi Ron, Dawn, Aaron, Carla and everyone! It has been fun and thank you all for your kind words! Also it was great to meet you in NY, Ron. I was delighted to learn on Friday night in the inaugural DEAD GOOD READER AWARDS I won the DR LECTER AWARD FOR SCARIEST VILLAIN for my 11th Roy Grace novel, YOU ARE DEAD (out in the US on Oct 6th) and beat both Stephen King's The Stand and Stieg Larsson's Girl With The Dragon Tattoo! So I'm a very happy bunny! If any of you would like to follow me on twitter or facebook you can find the links on my website, www.peterjames.com And in the words of that very scary villiain, bye for now!
Sandy *The world could end while I was reading and I would never notice* wrote: "It is a great book and a wonderful series Skye 8:D"Thanks, Sandy; Peter sounds wonderful and friendly and accessible. I must have missed this when I didn't get any notifications, and then did all I could to adjust the problem.
It was great meeting you as well Peter. Congrats on the DR. LECTER AWARD. Quite an accomplishment to win against King and Larrson. Again, I look forward to reading more of your books. I'm sure everyone here feels the same way.
Thank you for such kind words Aaron! I look forward hugely to returning! And sorry to have missed you, Sandy. And thank you so much for the congrats, Ron! Hope very much you will enjoy anything of mine that you read. All very best wishes to this great group!
Great, now that everyone has finished it, my reserved copy of Dead Simple has finally turned up at the library, lol!
