As much as she tried, Crys could never feel quiet at home at the institute, with her designer skirtsuits and her hair straightened and her hair recolored a darker brown and styled in an elegant, half-up/half-down updo which made her look older, more mature. It spoke of a businesswoman and not of a criminal and not for the first time, Crys wondered what she was doing here.
Sure, she definitely acted the part well. She was excelling at all her classes (even the languages, which she had been dismal at in highschool), she was one of the top five students of her year and wherever she went, her charm worked wonders. But she couldn't charm herself into believing that she was fine. Crys was a good liar. But there was only so much she could say to herself to try and force her mind into believing that this is where she wanted to be, that this was what she wanted to do. If her parents ever found out what Voclain really was, would the surprise on their faces kill her? Or even worse, would they not be shocked at all, expecting their daughter to stoop so low, to fail them once more?
