Zach was still just sitting in the hospital bed waiting for Lucas to pick up his phone. Isaiah had already been at home for a few days and now all that needed to happen was for Zach to get home too. Which is why he was calling Lucas
Lucas was playing with Isaiah, trying to distract him. He had been a little mopey and slow lately. And he could understand why. Lucas heard his phone rinsing and walked over to the dining room table to get it. "Hello?" he said, pressing the phone to his ear with his shoulder.
Isaiah didn't want to do much but be snuggled against someone and such. Which was normal for a little boy of three who just wanted his dad back home. While the small boy loved the fact that Lucas was around all the time he still wanted Zach home"Hey Lucas it's Zach." He said," are you busy right now?" He asked
Lucas nodded then rumbled himself that Zach can't hear him nod. "Yeah. Do you need something?" he asked then looked down at Isaiah. Lucas sighed softly and picked the little boy up in his arms.
Zach heard a little shuffling on the other end of the phone," yeah do you think you could come and pick me up?" He asked Isaiah snuggled close to Lucas and whispered," Woote I wanna see daddy."
Lucas rubbed the little boy's back. "Yeah. They letting you out?" he asked, walking around and holding Isaiah against him, his arms and legs wrapped around him. "You'll see him in just a bit, bud." he said softly to Isaiah, putting a pair of flip flops onto the child's feet before slipping on his own shoes and walking out to his car.
Zach nodded slightly," yeah they are as long as I can stay off my feet for the given amount of time." He replied. Isaiah brightened a little bit," yay see daddy." He said softly still clinging to Lucas a little though as he was put into the car," Woote woote I no want in car." He said
Lucas chuckled a little. "Alright. I'll be there shortly." he said then hung up. He put his phone in his pocket then attempted to put Isaiah in his car seat. Lucas sighed softly and stood upright again. "Well how else are we gonna get Daddy? It's gonna be okay, buddy. I promise." he said softly, bringing the little boy to eye level with him.
"Thanks." He replied and hung up also just sitting in the bed as he watched tv waiting for Lucas and Isaiah to come and get him. Isaiah looked up as Lucas and sniffled a little," o- otay.. But woote I no wite the car." He said
Lucas didn't know how Zach had done this on a daily basis. It was really hard. In the past few days, Lucas had seen more of the temper and sad sides of Isaiah than before. "I know, buddy. But we need to go get Daddy and bring him home. How 'bout we have cookies when we get back?" he proposed. Lucas didn't want to bribe Isaiah but it didn't seem like they're was another way.
Isaiah was just plain stubborn when he didn't like to do something and now that Lucas was around more he was being his typical self around him. Though if you had been in a car accident at the age of three and had to be taken from your dad you wouldn't like the car much either. At the mention of cookies Isaiah nodded," Otay I go in car to get daddy." He answered
Lucas smiled softly at him. "Alright. We'll have cookies when we come home." he said and out Isaiah in his car seat. He buckled him in them got into the front seat. Lucas pulled out of the driveway and drove to the hospital. When they got there, Lucas took Isaiah out of the car and went into the hospital. They went to Zach's room, knocking before entering.
Isaiah nodded slightly and let him buckle him into the car seat without too much fighting. He stuck his thumb in his mouth as he drove. Zach had almost broken Isaiah of that habit but now with everything that wa going on Isaiah went right back to sucking his thumb. Zach looked up at he knocked," come in." He called
Lucas went in, Isaiah in his arms. He set Isaiah down who promptly went to Zach's bedside. "Hey, man." he said, walking over with Isaiah. "Do you need anything before we take you?" Lucas asked him, raising a brow.
Isaiah looked over at Zach and toddled over to him waiting to be picked up. Zach shook his head," Nope just get me out of here before they decide to keep me longer." He replied gently resting him hand on Isaiah's head as he huffed not getting his way
Lucas laughed and nodded. The nurses had left a wheel chair in the room for him to be taken out with. Lucas helped Zach into the chair and unlocked the wheels. He grabbed Zach's things and put them in his bag. He slung it over the back.
Zach grinned a little bit and carefully moved so he was on the edge of the bed," finally leaving this place." He muttered at Lucas helped him into the wheelchair," I didn't think of this before but how in the world am I going to get into my bedroom?" He asked as Isaiah looked at him," daddy up."He said
Zach scooped him up as he asked," Daddy what that?"'he asked pointing to the soft cast they had out him in for the first few weeks," That's so daddy doesn't move his leg." He replied
"I haven't the slightest idea." Lucas said and started rolling Zach out of the room when Isaish had settled in Zach's lap. After having Zach sign release papers, Lucas took them out to his car and put Isaiah in his car seat. He opened the passenger side door and slowly helped Zach into the seat. "I'll be back in a minute." he said, returning the wheelchair before walking back to his car. Lucas got in and buckled up.
"I think I'll just take over the living room." He answered hugging Isaiah a little bit," Thank you for all of this."'he said softly. As he was helping him into the car. Zach sighed softly already tired from just getting out of the hospital and into Lucas's car," alright:"
Lucas started the car and drove back to Zach's house. He parked in the driveway and got out. How was he supposed to get Zach inside? He sighed and got Isaiah out first, taking him inside. "I'll get you some cookies in a little bit, buddy." he said as he put him in the living room. Lucas went to Zach's side if the car and opened the door. "I have no idea how to get you inside." he mumbled honestly
Zach leaned slightly against the car door and sighed softly watching the traffic go by. Isaiah ended up falling asleep but then waking as soon as Lucas stopped the car. He nodded and sat down to play with his cars as Lucas left him in the house. Zach looked over at Lucas and nodded," yeah I'm stuck with that one too." He replied. "I should have thought to ask if we could borrow the wheelchair." He said," that would make things easier for us."
Lucas shook his head. "Not with the stairs. We would still have to figure out to get you in." he said, running a hand through his hair. He thought for a minute. "Well, I certainly can't carry you." he said, trying to lighten the mood. "I may just have to support you and you'll have to hop along." Lucas said.
Zach nodded slightly," yeah that's true but it would solve the problem of getting me to the stairs." He answered then laughed softly," yeah that would be a sight to see you trying to carry me." He replied," Well seeing as how that's the only thing to get me into the house alright." He answered knowing the hopping part was going to hurt
Lucas nodded and took time helping Zach out of car and into the house. He settled Zach on the couch and sighed. "Comfortable?" he asked, looking over Isaiah for a moment before looking back at Zach. Lucas knew he probably wasn't but there wasn't a whole lot to be done. The pharmacy was supposed to text Zach when his pain meds were ready.
Zach groaned softly as he sat down on the couch," not really but I'll be alright." He replied softly leaning back against the couch and putting he leg straight on the couch even though it hurt to. He sighed softly as Isaiah came over to him," daddy I want to play." He said softly pulling on his arm a little. Zach shook his head," not now munchkin... Ask Lucas."
Lucas went and scooped up Isaiah, trying to make Isaiah laugh, be happy. "Come on, buddy. Let's go get our cookies." he said, taking him to the kitchen and setting him on the counter. He lightly tickled the little boy and went into the cupboards to find the cookies.
Isaiah stared at Zach for a second still upset by the fact that he didn't want to play like he always did. He giggled softly at being tickled as nodded as Zach watched them grateful Lucas was taking Isaiah out of there and making him distracted even if it was by cookies.
Lucas grabbed chocolate cookies and took out two for Isaiah. "Here you, buddy." he said, handing the cookies to Isaiah. He gave him a sippy cup with milk in it and picked him up off the counter. "Want to play, Isaiah?" he asked the little boy.
Isaiah took the cookie from him and started munching on it. He looked back towards the living room," daddy?" He asked pointing at him
Lucas raised a brow. "What about Daddy, bud?" he said, shifting Isaiah so he was on his side. "He can't play right now. He's not feeling good." Lucas explained to the little boy.
Isaiah ate his cookie and pointed again," Daddy watch a mooie wif us?" He asked thinking that if daddy wasn't feeling good that they could all curl up together and watch movie.
Lucas smiled softly. "Maybe Daddy will watch a movie." he said and set Isaiah down, taking the sippy cup from him. "Go ask if he wants to watch a movie." Lucas told him and watched the little boy run off.
Isaiah nodded and took off still holding his cookie," Daddy daddy daddy." He called as he ran. Zach woke up a little," What is it Saiah?" He asked softly
Isaiah smiled," you watch a mooie wif me and woote?" He asked
Zach nodded," sure I will.. Go tell Lucas what movie you want to see."
Isaiah nodded," Woote... Daddy say he watch wif us.. Tan you put pwanes in?" He asked
Lucas nodded and handed him his sippy cup again before following Isaiah back to the living room. He searched through their abundance of movies until he found Planes and got it in the DVD Player then queued up. Lucas grabbed the remotes and sat on the couch's matching love seat. He started the movie for Isaiah then watched him for a moment.
Isaiah climbed up into the couch with Zach and curled up against his side. Zach wrapped one arm around the little boy and was half asleep by the time the movie started. He yawned a little as Isaiah finished his cookie and drank his milk watching the movie play
Lucas saw Zach nodding off and knew he probably wouldn't be awake much longer. Halfway through the movie, Zach had fallen asleep but Isaiah still seemed to be watching avidly. Lucas ran a hand through his hair and stood up. He checked Zach's phone and saw the text from the pharmacy. He would go her the medicine whenever Zach woke up. ((Curious. Are we doing the Isaiah calls Lucas daddy thing? We don't have to. I just want to know.))
Zach had tried to pay attention to the movie but just couldn't. He fell asleep not even five minutes in. Isaiah however just finished his milk and watched the movie not even seeing what Lucas got up. He giggled softly at some parts he thought were funny.((Ohh yeah I forgot about it.))
((It's fine. :))Lucas smiled at Isaiah and settled back on the love seat. He watched the movie, though being an adult it didn't amuse him like it did Isaiah. Lucas glanced at the little boy. The kid was so sweet. He knew that he adored Isaiah. There was no mistaking that.
Isaiah slipped off the couch and toddled over to Lucas," woote you hol me?" He asked softly reaching to be picked up. "Daddy seepin' " he said," Shhh." He put his finger to his lips. Then once settled in Lucas's lap he snuggled close. The movement of Isaiah leaving his arms temporarily woke Zach. He looked around slightly seeing Isaiah with Lucas he started going back to sleep until he heard Isaiah say," you dunna be my ofer daddy?"
Lucas held the little boy and smiled softly. He then froze a little. His other daddy? Where had he gotten that idea? Sure, Lucas was gay but he had never said that to Zach and especially to Isaiah. He was smarter than that. Trying to figure it out, Lucas rubbed Isaiah's back and looked down at him. "What do you mean, Isaiah?" he said.
Zach didn't even know what to think about what had come out of his son's mouth. He did not talk about that kind of thing with his three year old son. Isaiah stared at him," Wite Wandon at sool.. He has two daddy's." he said. That's it! Zach thought that's where he remembered explaining something like that to Isaiah. He waited to see what Lucas would say not giving away that he was listening. Of course no one knew but him and Isaiah's mom why she had left him. It was because she had found out Zach was more into men than he was with her
Lucas had no idea what to tell the boy. None. Lucas took a deep breath and ran his hand over his face then through his hair. "I.." he started but still had nothing. "I'm sure that won't happen, buddy." Lucas said. Yep. That was it. He was having trouble putting together the right sentence. Lucas glanced at Zach and saw his breathing had changed. He wasn't asleep anymore.
Isaiah frowned a little bit," But why woote?" He asked looking up at him. " I wan you to." He complained a little bit. Zach sighed softly. Not what he had been expecting but now he would get the question later on since Isaiah seemed set in his mind.
Lucas but his lip and sighed. "I come over everyday, Isaiah. You see me all the time." he said and brushed hair off of the little boy's forehead. He loved Isaiah but was almost sure Zach didn't feel like that. Why else would he have a child?
Isaiah shook his head a little bit," no I wan you to stay wif me always."
He told him still upset. Zach opened his eyes a little bit and looked over at them. The movie had ended by now and he frowned seeing Isaiah so upset over it.
"Isaiah. It's alright. Don't be upset." Lucas said softly. He didn't want him to get upset. Not about this. Lucas had didn't know how to sate the child. What was he supposed to tell him?
Isaiah pouted and moved away from him so he slid off the couch and went over to Zach. "Daddy." He whined softly tapping on his arm. "What buddy?" Zach asked carefully pulling him onto the couch. Isaiah looked at Lucas for a second then back at Zach." Woote is bein mean daddy."
Zach raised his eyebrows just a little bit," I don't think Lucas could be mean to you."
