Xavier | 958 comments Lucas looked up and blinked before setting the toy back down on the counter. He shrugged and ran a hand through his hair as he put on what he hoped looked like a convincing smile. Although he was sure it looked more like grimace. "Nothing's wrong. It's just a lot to think about, honestly," Lucas admitted. He had never been through anything like this before and he wasn't sure how to deal with it.

Tinker bell | 28345 comments Zach nodded slightly, "Well if you say so. I should have told you about her a while ago." he stated softly. "I guess I just thought she wouldn't be able to find us and that I had more time to tell you about her. " He sighed a little. Zach moved so he was standing in front of Lucas, "You can ask me anything you want about her I don't mind." he said softly knowing that with stuff like this it was better to be open and honest about it.

Xavier | 958 comments Key sighed. Kingston knew her too well. "That hard to believe," she whispered, biting her lip to keep herself to crying. You couldn't blame her for thinking that everything her father said to her was true when he spewed it out every day of her life that he could possibly manage. Key sniffled and stared at the couch, unwilling to look up at Kinston. She knew she was incredibly lucky to have him as a friend and that he didn't deserve to be treated that way.

message 1104: by Xavier (new)

Xavier | 958 comments Lucas shook his head. He somehow couldn't think of anything to ask and even if he had, Lucas was sure he would have kept it to himself. "No, I just need to wrap my mind around it," Lucas declined his offer. He knew just by common sense and the fact Zach had a kid that he had also had a wife at some point and time in his life. Isaiah was a spitting image of Zach but now he could also see how the little boy looked like his mother.

message 1105: by Tinker bell (new)

Tinker bell | 28345 comments Kingston frowned even more watching the way Key was acting. He stood in front of her and shook his head," Come on." He said softly," I'm not going to tell you anything that isn't true." He stated," You know me way better than that." Kingston frowned and couldn't figure out how to help her out of she didn't tell him anything that was going on. He knew that her father was horrible to her but she didn't believe him when he told her what he thought about her

Zach nodded slightly," alright well if you need to talk or anything I'll be making dinner." He said softly moving away to go into the kitchen, but not before he gave Lucas a reassuring hug. There was so much that was going through Zach's mind that before he completely left he turned and said," I'm not going to leave you for her... I've already made that mistake with her and I'm not going to do it again."

message 1106: by Xavier (new)

Xavier | 958 comments Lucas gave a slight smile and placed a soft kiss on Zach's cheek, glad that he had found Zach. Even though it started as a babysitting gig, Lucas had quickly fallen in love with Zach and prayed that he wouldn't have to endure never seeing him or Isaiah again. Lucas went back to leaning against the counter and just watched Zach as he made dinner.

~Later~

message 1107: by Tinker bell (new)

Tinker bell | 28345 comments Zach smiled back at him as he went to make them dinner. He pulled out some chicken and began cooking it on the stove. He could feel Lucas watching him but he didn't mind it. As he cooked them dinner he was trying to think of a way to make sure that Leah couldn't have any part of Isaiah's life. Even though she technically didn't have any claim to Saiah other than the fact that she was his mother. Zach sighed softly as he began making some stir fried vegetables to go with their chicken

message 1108: by Xavier (new)

Xavier | 958 comments Key wrapped her arms around Kingston even though he was standing, hugging him. She didn't now how she would do without Kingston to help her through her moments. "I'm sorry.. It's just really hard," Key cried into his shirt, tears slipping down her face. She needed Kingston so much. More than she ever thought.

Lucas sighed and rubbed a hand through his hair, turning his eyes to the kitchen floor. He slipped out of the kitchen and went to find Isaiah. Lucas found the little boy playing on the living room floor with a few different toys. "Hey, buddy," he said, sitting on the floor beside him.

message 1109: by Tinker bell (new)

Tinker bell | 28345 comments Kingston looked down at her and frowned a little bit as he put one arm around her. He wasn't sure what all he should do. Key didn't cry much around him. "I know Key." he said softly, "I know, but I'm here to make you forget everything." he told her gently rubbing her back.

Zach glanced behind him as Lucas left the kitchen. He sighed a little bit knowing he shouldn't have kept the fact that Isaiah's mom could come around. He was just living in a dream world where he didn't think that Leah would come around again.
Isaiah looked up as Lucas sat down beside him, "hi woote!" he said happily

message 1110: by Xavier (new)

Xavier | 958 comments Key felt like wow thing special when she was with Kingston. He treated her like a real person and not some you that he could just abuse. Though Key didn't think he would do that to anyone ever. Key held onto Kingston as she cried. Hardly ever did she allow her self to cry around Kinston and his parents but what her mother had said to her had hurt her too much.

Lucas smiled widely at the little boy and crossed his legs. "What are you playing?" he asked him. Lucas was often astounded by what Isaiah came up when playing with his toys. He often thought it was a shame a good majority of kids lost that creativity as they got older. Lucas knew as a fact that he didn't have a creative bone in his body any longer.

message 1111: by Tinker bell (new)

Tinker bell | 28345 comments Kingston just held her close to him as she cried. Because she didn't cry around him often he didn't quite know what to do. He knew that she was hurting, but since she wouldn't say why or what had happened he couldn't figure out a way to make her happy again. He sighed softly knowing that her home life pretty much sucked and the fact that she was so stubborn and wouldn't let him help her, frustrated him to no end. Kingston gently ran his fingers over her back as he thought of something, "Key," he said softly, "Do you want me to go get my guitar?" he asked. Kingston knew that she liked it when he played for her since she was one of the only people who knew about him being musical. At school he was one of the athletes, not one who played an instrument not that he was hiding it at all.

Isaiah smiled. "I playin tars." He stated. He then launched into a long story about how the cars could fly and they were in space and how they were fighting a bad car to make his stay away from their favorite spot. Isaiah had a great imagination, but oftentimes he had a hard time explaining what he meant. He was a pretty smart kid just sometimes he stuttered when he got excited or scared. This was one of the times he was excited, even though Lucas often stayed for dinner and long after Isaiah had gone to bed. He was still happy Lucas was around, He knew that his dad was always happier and more willing to say yes to something if Lucas was around.

message 1112: by Xavier (new)

Xavier | 958 comments Lucas watched the little boy with a smile on his face. He loved that kid so much. "That sounds really exciting, buddy," he said, ruffling his hair and pulling him into his lap. Lucas don't know why he tried to distance himself from Isaiah and Zach. When he was with them, he felt so happy.

Key hesitated before nodding. She was one of the few people that knew he played and she loved it when he did. Key peeled herself away from Kingston so he could go get his guitar. Keyleigh sniffled and pushed her hair from her eyes as she watched him go to retrieve his instrument. This is why she was thankful Kingston was her friend. He hardly asked her questions about things that happened at home and didn't pressure her to answer those questions when he did ask them.

message 1113: by Tinker bell (new)

Tinker bell | 28345 comments Isaiah nodded, "Yeah." he said giggling as Lucas pulled him into his lap. "Woote you gonna stay here wif me and daddy?" he asked looking up at him hopefully. Isaiah was so used to being able to go to Lucas or Zach for anything and when Lucas had stopped watching him Isaiah didn't know what to do with himself.

Zach had heard the two of them and after he was finished making their dinner he walked over to the play room and watched them together before softly saying, "Hey you two it's time to eat."

Kingston nodded a little bit and waited until she had let him go before moving away from her to get his guitar. "Think about what you want me to play for you." he said softly as he gently wiped a few tears from her cheek before leaving the game room. He went into his room and grabbed his guitar before heading back into the game room. He just wanted to see Key smile again. It killed him when she was so upset and he couldn't do anything to make her happy again. He walked back into the room and sat down beside her. "Did you think of anything yet?"

message 1114: by Xavier (new)

Xavier | 958 comments Lucas just smiled at Isaiah and tickled him. He wasn't going to answer a question like that because he knew it was easy to get the kid's hopes up and would rather not do that. Lucas looked up when Zach came into the room and nodded. He stood, carrying Isaiah in his arms. Lucas stopped questioning how long Zach stood there before finally saying something. He didn't mind at all. Especially now that they were trying at least to date.

Key looked up when Kingston came in. She didn't remember what songs he could play for her so she had decided to let him choose. "I don't care. Play what you want," she answered, her voice thick from crying. Key curled up in the corner of the couch and stared down at her knees. She would go crazy if Kingston wasn't there. Keyleigh glanced up to make sure Kingston's parents weren't coming down. She didn't want them to see her like that. Rarely did Kingston see her like that and his parents saw her like that even less.

message 1115: by Tinker bell (new)

Tinker bell | 28345 comments Isaiah giggled softly and looked up at Lucas. With Isaiah only being 3 he was still pretty easily distracted by basically anything, so the fact that Lucas didn't answer his question didn't phase him too much. Zach smiled at Lucas and Isaiah as they walked past him going to the kitchen. Although Lucas didn't say anything to his son about if he would be staying with them, Zach had a feeling of knowing why he didn't say anything.

Kingston nodded a little bit as he sat down next to her and set his guitar in his lap. "Okay then." he replied trying to think of a song to play for her. He was still worried about her but the fact that she had let him go and was now sort of herself, even if that meant she wasn't talking to him and just staring ahead like she wished she could disappear. He sighed softly and began moving his fingers across the strings playing something soft and slow.

message 1116: by Xavier (new)

Xavier | 958 comments Lucas set Isaiah in his chair at the dining room table and smiled at the little boy. He sat down at his usual spot then got up again and grabbed his glass to go get a drink. Lucas got water for himself and grabbed a sippy cup for Isaiah. He filled it with juice and took it to him. Lucas glanced at the clock. "Zach, I gotta eat quick. My boss wants me at work early today," he said, looking over at him.

~Later~

message 1117: by Tinker bell (new)

Tinker bell | 28345 comments Isaiah smiled a little bit as Lucas sat him down in his chair. While Lucas was getting his drink and Isaiah's, Zach was putting food on everyone's plate. He looked over at the time and then back at Lucas and nodded, "Alright, Will you stil be able to watch Isaiah in the morning?" he asked. Even though they were trying to date Zach still asked Lucas to watch Isaiah when he had meetings and work.

message 1118: by Xavier (new)

Xavier | 958 comments Key closed her eyes as Kingston began to play. She listened to his quiet strumming and ignored the sounds of Kingston's parents upstairs, doing something. Key took a deep breath and looked up at him. He also seemed so concerned and she wondered if they was because of her. She didn't stop him from playing but just enjoyed it as she day there with him. Key picked at the couch as he played, her before furrowed. It was so easy for someone, or even herself, to convince her that she was the center of someone's problems even she around them at all.

Lucas nodded as he pulled his chair closer to the table. "Yeah. I don't have a morning shift today so I don't have to worry about that," he said, giving Zach a slight smile. Lucas picked up his fork and began to eat. He ate his food in silence, something he did most of the time anyways. It wasn't uncommon for him to think as he ate, whether the subject was important or not.

message 1119: by Tinker bell (new)

Tinker bell | 28345 comments As he played, Kingston watched his best friend. She seemed to be doing better, but he knew better than to just know by looking at her. He sighed softly still playing softly. His parents were upstairs making dinner and he was hoping he could convince Key to stay with them that night. It was something he asked her often even though most of the time she would turn him down. He was never upset that she wanted to go home he just didn't like the situation she was in. After a little bit he looked down at his hands and hummed softly as he played.

Zach nodded slightly as he put food in front of Isaiah. " Alright I was just making sure." he answered smiling back a little. He was like Lucas in the fact that he often didn't talk much while he was eating. Isaiah was busy eating like he had never seen food before, but that was pretty normal for him. Zach's mind wandered to the fact that Leah had found Isaiah and had seen Lucas. He could almost picture the look on her face when Lucas opened the door. Of course, at first Zach had been a little cautious at leaving Isaiah with Lucas, but soon got over at Lucas had proved himself very capable of watching Isaiah.

message 1120: by Xavier (new)

Xavier | 958 comments Lucas finished eating in silence and cleaned up his plate when he was done. "I have to get going, Zach. Thank you for feeding me," he said playfully, trying to keep the mood light. "I'll see you tomorrow, buddy," Lucas said to the little boy, ruffling his hair. He grabbed his stuff and started to head out the door. Lucas honestly didn't like leaving Zach and Isaiah but he knew there wasn't much he could do about it. He would be at Zach's house twenty-four seven if he could.

Key pulled her knees to her chest as she sat and listened to Kingston play. She wanted to tell him everything but she knew if she did, life would become even worse. Key would end up in foster care and would never see Kingston anymore. She would lose the stable-ish home that she had and she'd rather live with her father than worry about what her next foster family was going to be like.

message 1121: by Tinker bell (new)

Tinker bell | 28345 comments Zach looked up as Lucas got up from the table, he smiled a little bit, "You are always welcome here to eat." He answered, "I can't have you starving." he answered with a soft laugh. Isaiah nodded a little bit, "Otay." he answered with a mouthful of food. Zach looked at his small son, "Isaiah you need to chew and swallow before talking." he said softly admonishing his son. Zach followed Lucas to the door. "When do you have your next day off?" he asked quietly so that Isaiah didn't hear them.

Kingston continued to just play hoping that sometime Key would talk to him even if it wasn't about what had upset her. He knew from being around her for so long that he wasn't going to get the answers he wanted if he pushed her to talk to him she would talk when she was ready to talk. After a little while he looked over at her and said, "Can you stay tonight?" He asked, "We can have a movie night."

message 1122: by Xavier (new)

Xavier | 958 comments Lucas made a face and looked up blankly at the ceiling as he tried to remember his work schedule. Well, shoot... he thought to himself as he counted. "Um, Saturday night," Lucas finally answered as he looked back over at Zach, tugging a hand through his hair after shifting his stuff in his arms. He stuck his free hand in his pocket and his keys jangled around. Lucas honestly hoped that Zach wanted to do something because they hadn't in a while but if Zach just wanted him to watch Isaiah so he could have quiet time, he wouldn't complain.

message 1123: by Tinker bell (new)

Tinker bell | 28345 comments Zach nodded slightly," don't plan anything for that day then." He told him softly," We'll go out and do something if I can find someone to watch Isaiah for me." He commented after a bit. "It's been a while since it's just been me and you." He stated after a moment knowing that Lucas did have to leave for work soon

message 1124: by Xavier (new)

Xavier | 958 comments Lucas smiled softly, excited about the idea of spending some time with him. "Yes, it has," he replied then leaned over, kissing his cheek softly in a goodbye. "I'll see you tomorrow," Lucas murmured before stepping out the door. He closed the door behind him and walked down to his car, tossing everything inside before getting in and driving home. He had to get ready for work then go do his lovely night shift.

message 1125: by Xavier (new)

Xavier | 958 comments Key closed her eyes and let his strumming be the only thing she heard as she sat there, her body rocking side to side ever so slightly. When Kingston spoke, she opened her eyes and turned them on him. "Yeah, let's have a movie night," she mumbled in reply moving closer to him. Key rested her head on his shoulder and watched his hands as he kept going. She needed to tell him something, she was tired of keeping everything inside. What came out of her mouth next could be not taken back and she knew it but she needed to say something about it. "My dad hits me sometimes," Key whispered, turning her face into his shoulder as she tried to hide.

Tinker bell | 28345 comments Zach smiled back at him and nodded, "Yeah see you tomorrow." he answered as the door closed behind Lucas. He walked back over to Isaiah and smiled a little bit. He went about cleaning up the dinner table and trying to figure out what he and Lucas could do that weekend. He cleaned Isaiah up and sent him to watch a movie as he finished cleaning up the kitchen and went to watch the rest of the movie with Isaiah.

Kingston smiled a little bit as she finally agreed to have a movie night. He just continued to play for her and just waited until she spoke. He had a feeling that she was debating on what to say or something. As soon as she said something about her father, Kingston stopped playing. "He what?" he asked softly putting his guitar aside and looking down at his best friend.

message 1128: by Xavier (new)

Xavier | 958 comments Key bit her lip and knew there was no taking that back. "My dad hits me sometimes," she repeated in a whisper. Key glanced up at him, unsure of how he would react. She didn't want him to go crazy, honestly, she needed him to be calm about it. Telling him was hard enough and if he completely blew up about it, that would make it worse. Key fiddled with her hair, twisting it around her fingers.

((Do we want to skip to their date?))

message 1129: by Tinker bell (new)

Tinker bell | 28345 comments Kingston frowned as she repeated what she said. "Why haven't you told me before?" He asked softly after taking a deep breath so he didn't yell. He knew talking loudly or even getting too worked up would scare Key off. He watched her for a second and then slide his arm carefully around her," When? When does all of this happen?" He asked

message 1130: by Tinker bell (new)

Tinker bell | 28345 comments ((Yeah we can just skip to their date))

message 1131: by Xavier (new)

Xavier | 958 comments Key curled into Kingston's side, completely trusting of him. Honestly, as much as she kept to herself, Key knew he was her safe place. He, his arms, was the one places where she knew she wouldn't be hurt or judged. "Only when he's really drunk. He yells and curses, blaming me for everything he can think of," Keyleigh explained, clenching her hands in the fabric of Kingston's shirt as she sat there with him. It was always terrifying when she was alone with her father, drunk or not.

Lucas found himself nervous as he pulled into Zach's driveway, wiping his palms on his pants. He was nervous but excited and giddy. Lucas felt like a child about to get a new toy. He smiled and took a deep breath as he got out of his car, walking up the steps to the door. Lucas knocked. He didn't know what they would be doing that evening but he didn't really care. All he cared about was spending some time with Zach.

((Sorry they're short.))

Tinker bell | 28345 comments Kingston looked at her still speechless, He frowned and wrapped his arms tighter around her, "You can't go back." he muttered softly. He knew that even if she did say she would stay with him he would have to talk to his parents and then they would probably have to call the police. "Please tell me you won't go back there." he said softly looking at her and then trying to figure out what to do with the information she was telling him.

<><><><><><><><

Zach had been coming down the stairs with Isaiah in his arms when Lucas knocked on the door. He glanced out the window and smiled seeing it was Lucas. He opened the door, "Hey, I'm just waiting on the babysitter." he said moving so that Lucas could come in. Isaiah looked at him and grinned, "Woot you here!! You pay wif me?" he asked. Zach shook his head a little bit, "He's not here to play with you tonight Saiah." he explained softly, " Megan is coming over to watch you instead."

message 1138: by Xavier (new)

Xavier | 958 comments Key sniffled as Kingston held her. She knew what was going to happen, regardless if she went home or not. He would still call the police, or his parents would, either way and then her whole life would go to hell. Key wasn't stupid and was aware she should have told authorities about her dad long ago but it was her fear of the foster system that kept her from doing it. She didn't want to change schools, she didn't want to end up moving too far away from Kingston. Kingston was really the thing that kept her afloat. "I promise," she whispered as she curled into his arms.

•<>•

Lucas smiled at both Zach and Isaiah and went inside. "No, buddy. Not tonight. But, I'm gonna play with you tomorrow, alright?" he asked the little boy, ruffling his hair. He didn't like seeing Isaiah unhappy but he couldn't help it, Lucas was practically desperate to spend some time alone with Zach and actually get to know him. Lucas stuffed his hands into his pockets as he waited, shuffling around the area.

message 1139: by Tinker bell (new)

Tinker bell | 28345 comments Kingston nodded a little bit as he looked down at her. "Okay. " He said softly and then just hugged her tightly. He didn't know what else to do as he looked back ahead at the wall. He didn't know if he should tell his parents, but then he figured they would blow everything way out of proportion. Kingston sighed a little bit, "So I think we need to talk my parents or at least my dad." he said softly figuring he wouldn't freak out too much as his mom would probably have a fit. "If you don't want to say anything I won't." he told her softly.

<>*<>*

Isaiah frowned a little bit, "But I want you to pway." he said looking at Lucas and then at Zach. Zach smiled a little bit looking over his son's head at Lucas. "Go on and play in the playroom for a little bit. Before Megan gets here to watch you and make dinner for you." He told his small son. Isaiah sighed and nodded as he was put down and walked off to the playroom even though he was upset. Zach shook his head a little bit and sighed softly, "he has not been in a very good mood today." he said softly as he looked back over at Lucas.

Xavier | 958 comments ((I had an idea. So what if, Kingston and Key have no idea that his parents are signed up to be foster parents and so maybe someone tells the police and they end up putting her in with his parents as her foster parents?))

Key shook her head, vehemently opposing the suggestion that they tell anyone. She knew what would happen and it wouldn't be pretty. She trusted with Kingston with all her heart, that's why she had told him. But, this was the one thing she was wary about telling him. Would he tell someone after she had left and gone home or somewhere else? Or would he actually listen to her and not tell anyone unless she said he could? "I don't want to lose you, Kingston. If we tell someone, they'll tell the police and then I probably won't be able to see you anymore," she whispered, staring down at the design on his shirt. That's what she absolutely terrified of. Losing Kingston and being out in a home worse than the one she was in already.

•.•

Lucas smiled softly at Isaiah as he ran away to his playroom. He moved close and kissed Zach's cheek. "I think you should know more than everyone you can't always make him happy," he said softly but reassuringly. "Besides, I'll be back Monday and he'll be just fine," Lucas told Zach and smiled at him. He took his hand and spoke again in an attempt to lighten his mood. "So," he started. "What are we doing tonight?" Lucas asked him. He was actually quite excited for their evening together.

Tinker bell  | 28345 comments ((That is a fantastic idea. It think its awesome and we should do it.)) {Sorry it's taken me so long to answer.. I lost a lot of my threads when school started. Anyways, did you still want to continue this and any of our other ones?}

Kingston frowned a little bit as he looked at her, "Key we have to do something." he said softly. He sighed a little bit as she explained why she didn't want him to say anything. "Okay fine we don't have to say anything, but I think you should. We can figure out how to get you to stay here, but you can't go back to your house. I don't want you to go through that anymore." he commented really just wanting her to stay with him so he could some how figure out how to get her permanently out of her house.

*-*-*-*-*

Zach smiled a little bit and nodded slightly," Yeah I know, but it doesn't make it easier when he's upset." he replied looking over at Lucas. "This is true. He will be alright in a little bit when Megan gets here." Zach smiled a little bit as he moved his fingers through his. "That Lucas is only for me to know." he answered only slightly teasing. If Lucas really wanted to know then Zach would tell him.

Xavier | 958 comments ((It's fine. I understand. I'm only interested in continuing this one. I'm just not into the other ones. Sorry.))

Key pulled away and looked down at the floor. She didn't know what to do now that she had told Kingston. Should she just not go home? Should she tell the police, his dad, someone, what was happening? "I don't know," she whispered as she looked down, almost in defeat, at her hands. It was all too much. "I don't know, Kingston," Key said again, panic tinging her voice. There seemed, to her, like there was too much at play to make a decision.

•<>•<>•<>•

Lucas stuck his tongue out at him and rolled his eyes playfully. "Fine. Be like that. I didn't want to know anyways," he teased, glad that Zach was smiling. He smiled at him. Lucas moved closer as he tangled his fingers with his and sweetly kissed his cheek. He lingered as he stood close to Zach, wanting to relish this moment when they could just be a couple before the babysitter came around to interrupt the moment.

Tinker bell | 28345 comments ((You are totally fine. I was just wondering is all))

Kingston sighed a little bit as she told him she didn't know what to do. "I don't either." he said softly letting her pull away from him a little bit. "I think we should at least tell my dad. He will have an idea of what to do." he said softly still trying to figure out what to do with everything Key had told him. He didn't want her to leave his sight ever again. But then he also just didn't want her to get hurt any more and after everything he was kind of surprised that she had trusted him with everything she did trust him with.

*-*-*-*-*-

Zach grinned at him a little bit, "Ohh whatever.. I'm sure you actually do want to know." he answered. He glanced over at him as he moved closer to Zach. "Well it's a good thing we don't have to worry about being late." he muttered, but he was still smiling a little bit as he looked at Lucas. He was happy that they were finally able to go out just them.
