puppitypup | 52 comments I need a book where a group of people celebrate in public, it could be planned or unplanned, a victory party, a parade, a neighborhood block party, a small town picnic, or a bunch of kids hitting the swimming hole. For the Seasonal Reading Challenge.

Thanks!

Julie

Emma Bailey | 105 comments Liane Moriarty - The Last Anniversary

It's a story set on an island. The anniversary is related to a mystery/secret long kept. The finale is a party on the island. It may suit.

Justanotherbiblophile | 1814 comments Also, shouldn't this be in "requests for books in general" folder, since you're looking for any book that has street-celebrations? (vs. some specific book)

If you want IRL stuff, try checking out _Dancing in the Streets_ by Barbara Ehrenreich

Blue Willow, by Doris Gates. It ends with a May Day festival. Blue Willow

Sorry about that. I don't know how to switch it at this point.

Michele | 2488 comments Shirley Jackson's The Lottery centers on a public/crowd activity, though I don't know if you'd call it a celebration.

To be consistent, we leave these in "Requests for books in general" because the nature of the thread didn't change; but we can close it since you've gotten all the titles you wanted.
