Hayley | 11 comments Character Tips-

All characters should sound like real people. They shouldn't be flat or mary-sue like. They need flaws and should not under any circumstances be perfect. They also shouldn't be overly powerful and undefeatable.

Leena (leena23) Hmmmm so some tips.
*Puts on a sergeants hat*

-Don't make the history five sentences, make it paragraphs. This is an advanced group, lets act like it people.
-Take the advise and wisdom of those with longer years at doing this than yourself, or that are just plain more advanced than you. It'll help, trust me.
-Don't copy/paste from Wikipedia, first of all that's just lazy, second of all, you'll probably be found out and it makes you look STUPID(yep I said it)
-DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT, STEAL OTHERS CHARACTERS, DO NOT COPY/PASTE DO NOT TAKE CREDIT, NONE OF IT eheh okay?
-Take your dang time, do not rush it, if you do, it'll be a crappy character that no one will want to read, let alone rp with
-When you EVENTUALLY, get around to rping, DO NOT WRITE ONE OR TWO SENTENCE LINES, like that's just disrespectful to this group. IT SAYS ADVANCED PEOPLE, HACK IT OR GTFO. Okay? Make it a paragraph or two or three, hell I've made it 6 or 7. IF YOU CANNOT THINK OF SOMETHING right then, well tell your partner(s) you're rping with, "Look I need a bit, I don't have inspiration at the moment" Be mature. Don't go writing half-(view spoiler) post just because you want to get their reply in as quick as possible.
-RESPECT YOUR MODS, AND MODS RESPECT EACH OTHER, this is very big.
-Leaving a group because you're not ready for it is nothing to be ashamed of, nor is asking for help.
-Don't go all 'I have all the power and can't be killed' on people. Its boring and unrealistic. In a couple of my groups I have people dying(haha) to have their charries killed off. C'mon, you can make more charries, suck it up buttercup.
-Oh yeah, have fun :)

Kikki (kikki-not-kiki) These are what I would consider to be the most basic, bare-bones questions of character creation.

What would completely break your character?
What was the best thing in your character’s life?
What was the worst thing in your character’s life?
What seemingly insignificant memories stuck with your character?
Does your character work so that they can support their hobbies or use their hobbies as a way of filling up the time they aren’t working?
What is your character reluctant to tell people?
How does your character feel about sex?
How many friends does your character have?
How many friends does your character want?
What would your character make a scene in public about?
What would your character give their life for?
What are your character’s major flaws?
What does your character pretend or try to care about?
How does the image your character tries to project differ from the image they actually project?
What is your character afraid of?
What is something most people in your setting do that your character thinks is dumb?
Where would your character fall on a politeness/rudeness scale?

Rose ♥ When I create my characters, I actually just add a whole crap ton of info that's probably not necessary. For example:
-Zodiac & Zodiac info
-Favorite things
-Likes, dislikes, quirks
The good thing about these types of things is that they don't take too long to fill out and you can find a lot of the zodiac information online. Really, just add gifs and other crap, but remember to also spend time on the stuff that counts. You don't just want to splat a bunch of crap into a character without thinking. Even the simple stuff needs to have clarity and detail.
