merging into Goodreads author

I'm trying to merge

http://www.goodreads.com/author/edit/...

into

http://www.goodreads.com/author/show/...

I arrive to the author screen stating:

http://www.goodreads.com/author/show/...

"Sorry, this author is on Goodreads and is responsible for editing their own data. I"

Why isn't this merge allowed?

And in general, as a Librarian why can't I edit "Goodreads author" pages?

Only GR Employees can merge an author into a GR Author profile.
