The rhythm of Bones' breathing and heartbeat lulled Emerson to sleep, and soon she was so, even peacefully.
By early morning, though, she woke up and was immediately frantic, not knowing who had their arms wrapped around her. She scrambled away, sliding off the bed and falling to the floor before realizing it was Crispin. "Bones?" she asked, uncertain for a moment as she slowly remembered the previous day's happenings.

Emerson didn't really answer at first, slowly standing up and leaning over to gently pole his arm before sitting carefully on the bed. "Yeah, I'm okay. I just wasn't sure for a second," she replied, tilting her head and studying him.

"I wasn't sure if this was a trick of the rebels' or something," Emerson said honestly, closing her eyes for a second. "Alright, go ahead." She would just wash down at a sink or something and take a real shower next time they stopped somewhere. "Be thinking about where you want to go," she added before standing up and stretching.

Emerson was leaning against the kitchen counter, looking out the window at the backyard of the house. When she heard Bones, she smiled and turned to greet him, tilting up to peck him on the lips and take his hand. "Ready?" she asked, arching a brow.

Emerson smiled and followed after Bones, commenting on him carrying her bag when she said, "Why, how chivalrous of you," in a prim voice, amusement written in her expression. She took his free hand and kind of leading the way, remembering the location of the bar they had ditched the truck in.

"Oh, I know you wouldn't," Emerson replied in a soft singsong voice, pulling him along faster after pecking him on the jawline with a smirk. She climbed in the truck, brushing a hand along Copper gently before buckling. "So, did you decide where you want to head?"

"Hmm..." Emerson pondered aloud, taking Bones' hand and stroking her thumb over his skin. "Okay, well, how about I throw out some ideas and you pick from there?" she suggested, pursing her lips in thought. "Okay, Washington, Oregon, or Alaska?" she started, arching a brow at him.

"Well..." Emerson feigned changing her mind before smirking and shaking her head. "I wouldn't have suggested it if I wasn't," she replied with a soft nod. "It sounds great to me." She squeezed his hand gently before bracing herself for the teleportation.

"Preferably a safe one," Emerson replied with a soft, shuddered sigh. She squeezed Bones' hand, probably to comfort herself more than him, and looked out the window, watching the passing streets.

"A medium one. Too small and people will be nosy; too big and there's a better chance of someone who hates us being around," Emerson explained distantly, closing her eyes and breathing in the cold air. "Then again, there might not be a safe place anywhere."

"I trust you," Emerson replied softly, brushing her hand against his cheek before bringing the joined palms to her lap. "It's everyone else that's the trouble." She sighed quietly, her eyes narrowing as she thought she saw a little flurry of snow, but it was her imagination. At least she wasn't seeing imaginary people; yet.

Emerson swallowed, nodding and debating asking him something a little harsh. She closed her eyes. "And you completely trust Kilo?" she questioned quietly after a moment, opening her eyes and glancing over at him. She did trust Crispin, but a demon she hadn't ever met? Bones said he hadn't seen him in a while either; what if he wasn't to be trusted?

Emerson loosed a tight breath, bringing his hand up to her lips and nodding before brushing his skin against her lips softly. "Okay," she replied finally, closing her eyes and looking out the window again. "So, want to follow the general rules of looking for a house as last time?" she asked, arching an eyebrow over at him.

"Hmm.." Emerson contemplated aloud. "That sounds nice. Preferably one with a basement and maybe a longish driveway..." She bit her lip, looking back at Copper in gesture. "You mean a literal farm property or just a farmhouse with open space?" she asked.

Emerson giggled softly, rolling her eyes. "Um, no thanks. I lack the motivation, honestly." She winked at him and glanced at the passing streets, grateful they weren't in a busy area currently. "I mean, horses are cool, and sheep are nice and... dumb, but what's the point?" She shrugged, squeezing his hand again.

"Well, I'm sure there are other ways to come up with food for Copper," Emerson replied after a moment. She studied the town as they passed, not really pleased with it. She figured Bones thought something similar so she didn't voice her opinion, instead closing her eyes and resting her head on the window.

Emerson shook her head softly, although she unbuckled. "But I do need to stretch out a bit," she said with a soft yawn. She didn't want to fall asleep and a foot was feeling tingly. She climbed out and met Bones on the other side, giving him a quick, teasing peck before walking away and stretching. She narrowed her eyes at a flock of birds that took off from the roof of the store, momentarily distracted.

"Mm?" Emerson hummed, still watching the birds. Damn, she was getting a little crazy if she thought they were watching her. "Let's go; we can rest where we end up, right? I'll drive," she offered, slipping her arm around him. "Want somewhere along the coast again?"

"Mm-nn," Emerson replied through the kiss, pulling back to say, "You've been driving for hours; I can take a turn." She ran her hands up and down his sides lightly, though, pulling in for another kiss before sneaking the keys out of his pocket, smirking against his lips then leaning away.

Emerson relished within Bones' hold, parting her lips at his and closed her eyes. After a few moments she pulled away and rested her head on his chest. "There will be plenty of time for making out when we get settled, right?" She did not wait for an answer, pressing her lips to his again before heading back to the truck. "And you were meant to notice!" Meaning her touching him to get to the keys.

"It's be dumb of me to try to be sneaky; I know your ass-touching radar is in tune," Emerson replied with a lilt to her voice. She buckled and patted Copper at the shift in weight with the truck, starting it and pulling away. "Which way to you want to head?" she questioned.

Copper huffed before shifting, apparently wanting to sit on Bones more then she wanted to be in her original form.
Emerson smirked and pulled from the station and headed back out to the highway. "So, farmhouse, outside of a big town, preferably on the coast," she spoke aloud, reminding the both of them of their list. She took Bones' hand after patting Copper.

Emerson drove for a long while, and by the time she pulled off the highway to check out a town that somewhat seemed to match their criteria, it was late afternoon. "You good with checking out around here?" she asked Bones, pulling to drive down a street.

"A highway near Portland. I figured here would be as good of any place to start, unless you had an idea of a town in the past couple hours." Emerson smiled at Bones, taking his hand again as she had somehow lost it in the driving.

"Okay then." Emerson stroked Bones' hand softly, driving around for a bit. "Want to look at houses or check in for the night?" she asked after a moment, continuing to drive.
