"You're impossible." Emerson ran a hand over her face before beginning to chuckle, actually following the line of point to the spot Bones'd pointed out. "I'll... not consider it, for fear of digging up something unsavory." She shook her head again before huffing and stopping at a small fence that surrounded the towering lighthouse. "Oh, look, it's unlocked," the angel mused as ice covered the lock so much that it cracked and fell off. "Let's go in."

"Yeah, probably," Emerson replied with a nonchalant shrug. "If it's not, then... someone's probably inside and we'll be in a pickle," she joked, giving Bones a teasing look before trying the door. It was locked, naturally, and she noticed a sign saying something about the lighthouse being out of commission and needing a new worker. "Figures," Emerson muttered, breaking off the dead bolt and opening the door to the stale air.

"I think it would be fun." Emerson blushed sheepishly, following Bones up the steps. "Also... have you ever seen The Fog? There's a lady in the original that hosted a radio show in a lighthouse, and I just... thought it was cool." They reached the top of the steps, which was separated from the room above wit a screen door, and Emerson pushed it open on creaky hinges.

"It's a pretty easy job, you just keep it running and make sure ships don't crash into the harbor." Emerson bit her lip and approached the console, running her hand over the dusty keys and such. "Also, I wouldn't know, but this might be a communication station for the airport." She shrugged and looked out the window towards the sea. "Pretty, huh?"

Emerson checked out the console a bit more before deciding to look for Bones. When she couldn't find him on the pathway, she climbed up the ladder to the peaked roof and stepped over to sit down by him. She took a deep breath, hugging herself against the wind before quietly saying, "I'm sorry if I ruined things." She was, honestly. If Bones was mad with her... it was worse than him yelling when he had found out. She didn't want to spend her time with him like this.

"Well, to be fair, you did ignore my pressuring about the second wound not healing," Emerson pointed out, slipping down to lay next to him instead. She kind of sat her head on his arm-slash-thigh before sighing silently through her nose. "I don't know what to ask for proof... Unless they show a bunch of angels and demons together somewhat peacefully, which never happens."

Emerson almost scrambled to sit up and look at Bones, but shifted and decided she was too comfortable to do so. "Okay, yeah, that's a really good idea, but would they risk doing that, just for two recruits?" She looked out at the lapping waves and looked up at Bones' chin. "Unless they're already planning to do so." She had wondered why Malachi had been there, anyway. Maybe he was scouting out the post.

"True, but we also don't know what kind of power they hold. They could be a bunch of newbloods." Emerson rested her head on Bones' leg again and closed her eyes in thought. "I told him to come back tonight, so I'll propose that." She paused a moment before asking, "Do you want to meet with him, too? I can do it on my own, if you don't."

Emerson relaxed at Bones' touch, smiling faintly. "Thank you. I'm glad you like it," she replied honestly, enjoying the feel of having her hair played with. "And I don't want to meet with him on my own, either. I don't trust him, especially after he followed me home." That part had really bothered her. "We'll make it quick, okay?"

"Well... At least he got rid of my so-called 'tails'." Emerson bristled, still annoyed with the pointed look he had given her with that. She sort of melted into Bones as he continued to play with her hair. "But yeah. He needs a lesson on personal boundaries."

"Well, I don't know what other options I have for getting out of the legion. You wanted another plan, and now that there is one, you're barely considering it." Emerson sighed, pulling away from Bones' touch and sitting up so she kind of faced them. "Other than getting the angels' minds changed, or joining this... I suppose I could turn around and stab this rebel group in the back the moment they get me out of the angels' war." But that was a very... 'not-angel' thing to do, considering. She looked out over the harbor, her expression showing she was quite eaten up about it.

"Or... They could be new?" Emerson suggested, although she wasn't so sure herself. "I guess... We should just see what they'll be willing to do for us and then discuss it later on." She bit her lip, scooting a bit further away before tilting her body to face Bones. "I can't force you to do this, but right now it looks like I'll either have to join them, or the legion, and you have to figure out which you would prefer." She stood then, needing to stretch her legs. "I'm going to go look around some more," she murmured, glancing at Bones another time before heading down the ladder.

Emerson glowered as she further explored the lighthouse, even finding a basement to venture in, but froze with a short scream as a tall, athletic figure stepped in her way. A hand covered her scream, and she was more than royally pissed to recognize the voice that hissed, "Please don't scream! I hate screaming. It gives me a migraine. And I don't want to piss off your demon."
Emerson stepped back and away from Malachi, a haughty glare giving away what she thought of his little ambush. "What do you want? You're hours early!"
"Well, 'night time'm is a relative term..." Malachi backed up several feet in the little room as he saw her open her mouth to yell again, insisting, "Please don't call him and the hellcat." Emerson didn't bother to tell him Copper wasn't with them, crossing her arms defensively over her chest. She realized he had kind of cornered her in the dark basement landing, and the same time as their first meeting, ice brewed on her fingers.
"Bones!" she called, and Malachi hissed vulgar language under his breath, his dark hair swaying as he tried to make it seem like he hadn't cornered her, which was hard in such a cramped area.

"Oh, Emerson invited me back; I swear I didn't mean to make it creepy, I'm told I have boundary issues," Malachi rambled, looking to the other angel for confirmation. Emerson shrugged with a small nod. "I came to find out about your decision, her decision..."

Emerson could have swore she saw a flicker of a smirk flit across Malachi's lips, but he nodded carefully and took a step back onto the steps.
"I'm... sorry," he said, sounding more impressed than sorry. Emerson let out a breath as he finally left, though she didn't make a move to touch Bones until she heard the door of the lighthouse slam shut, and even then it was only a brush against his arm. "We'll just tell him we want the post taken out?" she confirmed quietly, still staring at the stairwell.

"He didn't hurt me, just... tried to force me into not screaming, so when I screamed, he kind of panicked, I guess." Emerson felt a twinge of pride in knowing Crispin cared. "If it's so easy for you to kill him... maybe I should speak with him alone, after all." The angel gave the demon a pointed look to let him know she wasn't kidding. "Let's slowly make our way back; he can be patient." She stepped onto the stairwell, gesturing for Bones to follow close behind.

"I honestly don't think he had an ulterior motive to cornering me other than his obvious fear of you, but it means..." Emerson swallowed, squeezing Bones' hand a little. "It means a lot to have you be cautious for me." She was silent then, keeping an eye on their house ahead. She did not bother to make it look as if they hadn't broken into the lighthouse, because who would've been checking it out, anyway? "So much for going down to the beach," she murmured, not wanting Malachi to hear.

"He's... creepy, especially considering he's an angel. Well, he might not..." Emerson considered it, before a bulb lit in her head. "Maybe he's fallen." In that case, she did not want to know what Malachi had done to deserve that, considering her own tainted-ness. "That would be even more disturbing." Almost as a comforting reflex, she stopped their walk again to cup her hand behind Bones' neck, sort of pulling him down so she could kiss him again before taking a calming breath. "Okay, let's go," she whispered against his skin, gathering herself in preparation.

Emerson honestly understood the wary look on the angel's face as he pushed himself from leaning up against a tree. He seemed to purposefully not look at Emerson, and in annoyance, she stuck her tongue between her teeth and bit to keep from making some snarky comment.
"Look, I'm not here to hurt either of you... I'm honestly just trying to do my job, and that means finding out what Emerson's decision is, since you made your opinion clear." His expression kind of cut to Bones, then, as if he were trying to guilt trip him.

Malachi eyed Bones before looking to Emerson, jutting his chin in a way to tell her he didn't believe that was necessary for her, but still he looked over the demon with feigned disinterest. "We've already been planning that, so don't get off thinking you're so special." The way he said it to Bones made Emerson shift in uncomfortable annoyance. He had practically been begging, so why the nonchalance all of a sudden?
She gave Crispin a slightly confused look, but held her ground as she turned to ask Malachi, "And when will this be happening?"
His expression changed yet again as his bluish-green eyes slid back to the she-angel. "Two nights from this... At a designated time, I'd add." That was definitely pointed. "Their guards slip out at approximately eleven forty-six. Do you want to join or just watch?"
Emerson shook her head fervently, not willing to risk the trap. "We'll just watch."

"In our Maine quarters, we have a couple hundred, which is small, you would understand. We're only planning on a few dozen for the drop to this legion outpost, just because it's small. You two were talking about raiding it yourselves -which, by the way, is creative but stupid and you wouldn't have made it- and we know we can take care of it with little less than forty rebels." Malachi shrugged, now looking at Bones again, as if he surveyed two different meats for dinner. Emerson rolled her eyes, glancing a the spot he stood over and smirked, knowing it was where Abernathy laid. "Over the east coast we have a hundred or so posts, adding up to thousands of rebels. Pleasing enough for you?" He couldn't exactly give trade secrets away to the couple who were basically capable of blending into any of the three groups, given the situation. Not easily, but they could still give the information for freedom.

Malachi laughed through his nose. "Of course I was eavesdropping; I had to make sure you two weren't going to turn around and give up to the legion. Which, given your selfish tracks of life, was totally plausible." The angel's shoulder flicked up in casual shrug, his arms coming to cross like Bones'. Emerson rolled her eyes and kept the way she was, with her thumbs hooked into her jean pockets. "Well, if it makes you trust us any better, we won't ask to know where you two are squatting to watch. But nothing will make you trust us entirely, right? Just the sane as you can't trust the legion, or the various demon organizations." He didn't seem to know of Bones' father, which was good.

"I can't give you the time, because I don't want you getting all greedy and handing it to the legion," Malachi retorted, and Emerson realized that was actually pretty smart, because it could have been used as a bargaining chip for her freedom. "I'll send word when we plan on heading out an hour or so before so you two can head over. Any more questions?" He looked even more bored than before, and Emerson kind of wished he would just leave.

Emerson didn't turn to glance at Malachi, but she was pretty sure she heard him give a snorting laugh before a metal grinding and clanking, and again the whooshing noise. Those wings were so... weird and unnatural.
She stopped Bones in the hallway so she could peer out and past the sunroom thing, and sure enough, Malachi was gone. "I think he's testing you, for some reason," she murmured softly, her old-language accent peeking through the veil of the newer one. Being around another angel felt as weird an unnatural as his wings were to her, and she had picked up on his voice. She kind of hoped it wouldn't annoy Bones, but she also couldn't help it.

"What do I think?" Emerson mused, drumming her fingers on her thigh before pulling her other hand out of Bones and pulling her knees to her chest. "Part of what I think is, I'm willing to go and watch them take out the post, but I also want to be careful about it. But what I really want to know is why you think they would want me more than you." She gave him a pointed look before hugging her legs to her chest and resting her chin on a knee.
