Emerson squeezed Bones' hand before reaching and taking the money. "Sure, I'll be right back," she promised, leaning to kiss him before climbing out of the truck and to the front desk. Inside, at first the lobby boy seemed annoyed at someone coming in so late, but she flashed her smile and he ended up signing her in quickly. Emerson took the key and room number before bidding him goodnight and slipping out and back to the truck.

Copper yawned and stretched a bit before hoping out of the back seat and onto the ground. Bones closed the door again and looked over at Emerson. "What room?" he asked.
Emerson had gone to the other side of the truck to grab her own bag, but met Bones before he turned back. "Uh... Thirty-four," she remembered, looking down at the key ring to make sure. She nodded and bent to pet Copper. She motioned for Bones to follow, assuming the cat would as well as she wove her way to the assumed hotel room.

Bones chuckles softly and closed the door behind him before dropping his bags. Then he walked over to the window and closed the shades, don't need anyone looking in on them. "How much farther do you think we should go?" he asked, they were almost to the top of Maine but they didn't have to stop there, they could loop around it and find somewhere on the other coast.
Emerson chuckled, watching Copper before returning her attention to Bones with her smile still there. "Oh... Well, I don't honestly care. I mean, we could just keep going until we find a town we like and stop by to look around." She set her own bag down before sitting on the edge of the bed with a small sigh. "Did you have a type of town in mind?"

"Ahh, yes," Emerson joked back, leaning her head a little into Crispin's kiss. "Hmm, well, we'll obviously want to check out the seaside towns, preferably ones with a bar or club for you to... You know." She bit her lip before kicking off her shoes and pulling her legs up to sit pretzel-crossed. "I really don't want to ask this, but..." She trailed off for a moment. "Do you think your father will find us again?"

Emerson sighed and pulled away a little to look up at Bones, actually grateful she had been careful with what she'd written in the note for the delivery boy. "I understand..." Even so, with a small ripple of anxiety she drummed her fingers on her knees. "Guess we'll just have to be extra careful then, huh?"

"Pretty sure I'll just panic and freeze my surroundings if I saw someone even resembling him, but if you believe in me," Emerson joked, rolling her eyes before leaning up to kiss Bones gently. She slid an arm around his side to pull him closer.

"I'm sure we will be," Emerson said, though she wasn't actually positive. It still bothered her; everything that had happened that day. But anyway, she laid her head on Bones' chest and closed her eyes for a minute before saying, "I think... When we settle in, I think I'll find a different sort of job. Setting up a new shop would be difficult."

Emerson nestled in next to Bones, listening to his breathing and Copper's purring for a few minutes before finally falling asleep.
Unfortunately, after only an hour or so of sleep she woke up in a coldsweat, her heart racing. She took a look at the peaceful Bones next to her and loosed a breath, pulling away from him and padding to her bag, deciding to go and take a quick shower while he still rested.

Emerson took a quick shower, as the water was erratic in temperature and pressure, which was weird. She quickly got out and dried off, pulling on new clothes before braiding her still-damp hair as she left the bathroom and sat into a chair in the corner of the room Bones and Copper were in. She rested her head against it, watching the two for a time as they slept.

Emerson turned her attention from focusing blankly on the wall and shook her head at Bones. "A few minutes," she replied with a soft sigh. "I couldn't sleep." She stood and shrugged. "Do you want to rest longer?" The day would be hell for driving, but she wouldn't tell Crispin that she thought that.

"Mm-hmm," Emerson replied, dipping to grab her bag and follow Bones out to the truck. She could keep this bag in the front at her feet, anyway, as she figured Copper would be grumpy to have to shift again. She waited until Bones was done and walked with him back to the room, not honestly trusting the Mngwa enough to go ahead and wake her up on her own.

Copper groaned and stretched before shifting into a tabby cat, not bothering to move after that.
Bones laughed before picking up Copper, "You really are a lazy old cat" he said with a chuckled as he walked out of the room with her, lightly scratching her behind the ears. He set her in the back seat of his truck, "You can shit back, as long as you stay low" he said before closing the door. Then he turned around and looked at Emerson, "All ready?" he asked and tossed her the keys to his truck.
"Yeah." Emerson caught the keys from Bones after watching the exchange between him and the cat, and she climbed into the truck and started it while waiting for Bones to get in. She smiled small as she truck groaned when Copper shifted into her regular Mngwa form.

"Alright," Emerson replied, smiling at Bones before pulling out of the parking space and pulling up to the front lobby doors. "Would you mind dropping this off first?" she asked, pulling the key out of her pocket and handing it to him.

Emerson smiled and waited until Bones closed his door to pull away, driving out from the road and to the highway. "If we just keep to the highways or roads along the coasts for now, we can check out cities as we go by. How does that sound?" she asked as she switched lanes.

Emerson shrugged, glancing at the comfortable Bones before looking back to the road. They'd left late enough that rush hour was over. "I don't honestly care. I have a stag of money with us and more kept in other places. Mostly from when I worked with Kylist," she replied. "What do you think?" Maine wasn't that expensive of a state to live in, anyway, so she wasn't worried.

Emerson nodded. "You mean with a surrounding forest or something?" she questioned, speeding up a little as there honestly weren't any cars around, other than the occasional straggler.

"Well, yeah, we wouldn't want to be investigated for mysterious mauling," Emerson joked, smiling a little as she passed a lone, slow car on the highway. "Well, tell me if you see a place you think you want to check out," she told him, glancing over briefly.

((Thanks btw))
Emerson pulled over into the lane to get off the road they were on and into the town. "Looks good enough to check," she agreed, checking for other drivers before pulling down the road. "We can at least drive around here a bit; unless you would rather stop and walk." She glanced at him, waiting for an answer.

"Nah it's fine, wouldn't be a good idea to leave Copper alone" Bones said with a smile and looked out the window as they drove around the town. "By the way doesn't matter if the house is for sale or not. Got ways around that" he said and looked over at Emerson with a smile. "And no I don't mean kill them either" he said.
Emerson rolled her eyes with a slight smirk, although she did loose a breath. "Thanks for putting my conscience at ease. How would you get a hold of said property, then? Bribery? Threats?" She was only half teasing, and didn't look at Bones, instead studying the shops and houses they passed. It actually looked like a nice town, and she decided she wouldn't mind living there, at first glance.

"Well, as long as you don't kill the occupants..." Emerson shook her head at his question. The houses in this area were too close together, and to the main town square. "If we drive a little closer to the coast side of town, I'd bet the houses will be further apart." At least there were a ton of trees around. She spotted a tall lighthouse in the distance and geared to move towards there. "You good with checking a little further out?"

"Yeah." Emerson had already eyed the For Sale sign out front and pulled into the longish, gravelly driveway. The house was big -enough for the three of them, anyway- and farm-style ish. She liked it from the outside, at least. It honestly even looked to be vacant, and the dust that blew up from the road told her no one had driven down it in a long while. "It doesn't look like anyone's been here in a while," she commented, killing the engine.

Emerson eyed the licenses and IDs warily, although she smirked at Bones. "You know I'll be asking where you got these later, right?" She looked them over again. "What a coincidence... Us being married," she teased, although she chewed her lip. "It does make sense enough to be buying a house, though." She picked up a set of fakes to choose, although they were honestly random, as she didn't care who they were for the time being. "The Malloys. Funny, we're Irish." She rolled her eyes and chuckled, handing Bones his in turn. "Good?"

Emerson climbed out of the driver's side and closed the door, sliding the new information in her back pocket as she met Bones where he stood and waited for the car to arrive. "Did the realtor tell you anything about it when you were on the phone?" Emerson ask-whispered into his ear.

The realtor and got out of the car to walk over to Bones and Emerson. "Are you two suppose to be the immensely wealthy buyers I just talked to?" doubt clearly in her voice.
Bones chuckled, "Why yes of course" he said with a smile. "Randy Malloy" he said and shook her hand polite. "Don't look like much but I assure you I wasn't lying on the phone. I am willing to pay a handsome fund for this property" he said down at Emerson. "Arently we darling" he said and wrapped his arm around her shoulder.
"We are." Emerson giggled easily, leaning into Bones's embrace before holding out her hand to shake the woman's. "Katherine," she introduced herself before looking off at the house with a fake dreamy look on her face. "It's gorgeous," she breathed in awe before looking to the realtor. "How long has it been on the market?"
The woman looked the two up and down. "Just a few months. The previous owner had to leave town on a family emergency and decided to leave permanently. He's left it furnished and everything."

The woman didn't apologize for not introducing herself at first, but replied with a haughty, "Abernathy." Emerson gritted her grinning teeth, but obeyed Bones, not really wanting to get in the middle of the woman's nastiness at that moment. She opened the truck door and gently picked up the tabby, and Copper barely stirred as she held her and closed the door again, the cat slipping asleep. She glanced at the realtor again before heading off around to the look at the outside of the house for now, wondering if there would be room for a garden.
