мαr ♚ | 264 comments For nearly two hours Owen had been in the Raptor exhibit with the animals, he had heard along the grapevine that the curator was going to come by for an inspection today and ask him some things about the Raptors. In the exhibit, it had taken a few moments for the dinosaurs to emerge from the cover in the brush, but when they had Owen made sure to acknowledge them with a few high pitched whistles that he had taught them to recognize him by. Over the amount of time he had worked with the Raptors they had learned many things from him, like how to run together and how to follow him around like puppies, but those were just a few things. But most importantly, the Raptors needed to know that he was their leader, their alpha, and that he called the shots, not them. It didn't take long for them to learn this at all, and he was certain the Curator would be pleased with his work. He was facing her when she arrived, watching the Raptors run together intelligently, he nodded a greeting to her, his eyes continuing to follow the animals as they ran circles around him. "Hello," he greeted her, motioning with his hand for the Raptors to stop running, which they did immediately. Crossing his arms over his chest, the muscles of his arms flexing just by this motion. Owen turned to the Curator, prepared for pretty much anything she had in store for him.

мαr ♚ | 264 comments When she stepped towards him with her hand outstretched Owen extended his own hand to shake her's, surprised at the strength of her grip. "It is good to meet the Curator after all this time," he said and nodded when she released his hand, crossing his arm back over his chest with the other one. He listened when she started asking questions and opened his mouth to answer after she had finished speaking. "I believe that they like their exhibit for now, they could always change their minds and decide that they would like it to be completely different, though I think that they would like to have some more space," he nodded at his own words and pivoted on his left foot to look back at the Raptors who were standing behind him. "And I would say that they have responded very well, as you can see," he paused to gesture to the creatures behind him. "They like to follow me around in here like puppies, you would think I had hotdogs in my pockets or something," Owen chuckled lightly at his own words, pivoting back to face the Curator, whose cheeks were flushed. "Are you all right?"

мαr ♚ | 264 comments Owen nodded when she said that the heat got to her, he knew that the heat got to many people that worked here, but it didn't get to him. He enjoyed the heat, he would rather it be warm all the time than being warm only a few months out of the year like it was in most places in the world. When she asked about seeing the pins that the Raptors were kept in he nodded, "Of course." He began walking towards the set of stairs, "They won't be to happy about having to be pinned down, but if it's what needs to happen; it'll happen." Owen was surprised that she was able to keep up with him, most people had trouble keeping pace with him, fore he took big steps and was a quick walker. "I would say that they all respond to me equally well, they work together as a group, they respond as a group."

message 4: by мαr ♚ (new)

мαr ♚ | 264 comments It only took a moment for Owen to get the raptors in the pin, they were reluctant but in the end the followed through with his signals and did as they were supposed to do. "They'll be happy about that," he said, smiling a little bit. He chuckled when she asked if he enjoyed working with the Raptors, "Well, I wouldn't be here if I didn't like working with them, would I?" When one of the Raptors shifted uneasily in the pin, eying Hannah who stood next to him, "This one's name is Dux, he's pretty protective over me. But he's harmless."

message 5: by мαr ♚ (new)

мαr ♚ | 264 comments When she asked if she could touch the Raptor, Owen looked over at her for a moment, uncrossing his arms from his chest and reaching over to grasp her right wrist gently, speaking in soothing words to the Raptor, Owen gently placed Hannah's hand on the creature's neck. He released her wrist before placing his own hand next to hers, feeling the male Raptor exhale heavily, it's eye rolling around to look at him and the red-haired woman, it's pupil enlarging a small amount. "No, he doesn't think you'll harm me," Owen said quietly, his chest barely brushing against Hannah's back as he kept his hand on the Raptor's neck, feeling the creature's every breath.

message 6: by мαr ♚ (new)

мαr ♚ | 264 comments Owen shook his head when she asked him about how calm the Raptor Dux was, breathing at the same pace as the creature. "No, he wouldn't have let you touch him if I wasn't here," he told her. Very aware of how close the Curator was to him, her shoulders touching his chest. He smiled when she asked about how Dux knew that Hannah was not going to harm the Alpha, with his hand still on the Raptor's neck Owen felt the muscles rippling under the rough skin under his fingers. "I know because he wouldn't let you touch him right now if he thought you were going to hurt me," Owen answered, his breaths still coming in pace with the Raptor's breaths.

message 7: by мαr ♚ (new)

мαr ♚ | 264 comments Owen nodded when she asked him if he trusted the Raptors, his answer was obvious by the expression on his face and how he had nodded slowly, his hand still resting on Dux's neck. After she withdrew her hand he let his stay on the creature's neck for a moment before pulling it back as she checked the others vitals. When the Raptors were released from their pins they ran around their containment area for a bit before returning to stand behind Owen as they had grown accustomed to doing. "Is there anything specific you would like to see?" He asked Hannah when she asked him to show her the things he could do with the Raptors, which cocked their heads intelligently as if they knew they were being talked about.

message 8: by мαr ♚ (new)

мαr ♚ | 264 comments He raised an eyebrow at her, picking up on the intention of her words. But in a split second she shifted back to a professional and he had to bite the inside of his cheek to keep himself from smiling. "I might have my work cut out for me trying to impress you, but I'll try my best," he let out a set of three low-toned whistles and signaled to the Raptors with his right hand and they all scattered in different directions until they were out of Owen and Hannah's line of sight. "They have their own version of hide-and-seek," he explained, turning back to Hannah as she stepped towards him, smirking at him. "What makes me special? Nothing, I'm just an ordinary guy who works with dinosaurs for a living who also has a tendency to flirt with his coworkers," he answered, smiling down at her from his looming height above her, not quite flirting with her yet, just waiting for her response.

message 9: by мαr ♚ (new)

мαr ♚ | 264 comments "Well just because you're my boss that probably wouldn't stop me but you do have a point," Owen said turning back to see if the Raptors had hidden themselves completely from sight. He smiled when she said that he was special because of the short amount of time it took for the Raptors to respond to his signals. Smiling he chuckled lightly to himself, "It has a lot to do with respect, you respect their space and their wishes and they'll respect yours in return. I have a lot of respect for the Raptors, so they have a lot of respect for me." Pausing for a moment to listen when Hannah asked how the Raptors played their game of hide-and-seek he turned his head towards her, "It's simple really, they hide, I-or we, in this case-try and find them. This is probably their favorite game to play with me, some of them come up with very intelligent ways of hiding themselves which I'm sure you'll see once we start looking for them."

message 10: by мαr ♚ (new)

мαr ♚ | 264 comments At her words Owen chuckled quietly to himself, "Oh don't worry, it probably won't," he said, shifting so that his body nearly brushed up against hers. He nodded when Hannah asked if they could start looking for the Raptors, "Yes, they should be ready for us by now," he looked over when he felt her body brush against his as she peered into the bushes looking for the Raptors. Their containment area was completely still and silent except for the two humans, Owen had also started scanning the trees and brush for any sign of the creatures. "They always come up with a different place to hide," he answered, turning his head to look at her, catching her eyes and smiling down at her, leaning his arms against the railing as his eyes held hers steadily.

message 11: by мαr ♚ (new)

мαr ♚ | 264 comments Owen watched her for a moment when she looked over at towards a pile of dirt, he only noticed the Raptor hiding there when it got up. The creature looked up at its trainer, standing where it had been found, not moving an inch. Owen had decided to let Hannah find the Raptors, since he played hide-and-seek with them often, he figured it would be best to let her find the dinosaurs herself without his help, unless she asked for it then of course he would help her. The Curator's arm was pressed against his as she raised her hand to shield her eyes from the bright sun's rays continuing to look for the other Raptors. "I have a feeling that the other ones are hiding in the brush somewhere... We might have to go and look for them," Owen said, looking down at the only found Raptor who was still looking up at him.

message 12: by мαr ♚ (new)

мαr ♚ | 264 comments "I think you saved this one for last purposefully," Owen said when she told him how she didn't have any more to check up on. He turned his head and raised an eyebrow at her, a grin on his face. His eyes followed her as she brushed past him on the high rise and began walking around the edges of the Raptor's containment area, searching for any signs of the ones that were hiding. Taking his eyes off of her for a moment to scan the undergrowth and check and see if the only found Raptor was still in the same spot where it had been found. When he looked back up at her from where he stood across from her on the high rise his eyes fell upon three jagged lines that would've been covered by the collar of her shirt had a button not come loose, they looked as if they were caused by one of the creatures at the park, though which he could not be certain. He hadn't seen them earlier, but one of the buttons of her shirt hadn't come undone earlier. Owen nearly opened his mouth to ask her about the scars, but bit his tongue, knowing he should wait until she came back around to him to ask her where they had came from, though his curiosity was making it nearly impossible for him to hold his tongue.

message 13: by мαr ♚ (new)

мαr ♚ | 264 comments Owen craned his neck to see the Raptor that she had found stand up and he shook his head, smiling but still biting his tongue to keep himself from talking. He decided that he liked the sound of her laugh, it was on the husky side, but that didn't bother him, it sort of evened itself out in a way that he couldn't fully explain. Nothing like some of the other women that worked in the park, who's laughs were too high pitched for his liking, Hannah's was just....perfect. He had met her sister Claire, but she was absolutely nothing like Hannah. His eyes followed her as she started walking back to him, noticing the sway of her hips while she walked for the first time that day. Shaking his head when she saw through his silence he looked over at her, "It's nothing, really," he lied, not to well for he was certain she saw through it.

message 17: by мαr ♚ (new)

мαr ♚ | 264 comments Owen was honestly surprised when Hannah didn't insist that he tell her the reason for his sudden silence, to him that just proved that she was not like most women as he had guessed. And he liked that about her, if he didn't like everything about her. He laughed once when she asked him to help her find the other Raptors. "What, is my checking you out bothering you?" He asked her, catching the wink she aimed at him before she brushed past him on the high rise again. Turning his head, his eyes followed her for a moment before he straightened up from where he was leaning against the railing and began following her. When she glanced back over her shoulder at him he looked away for a moment, craning his neck to see over the railing and into the brush, searching for the remaining two Raptors. "You know, I would think you would've liked to find the last two on your own...but maybe I was wrong."

message 18: by мαr ♚ (new)

мαr ♚ | 264 comments At Hannah's words Owen chuckled lightly, rubbing a hand over his mouth while he watched her lean over the railing, still looking for the two remaining Raptors. When she straightened up, Owen couldn't even force himself to look away. She knew what she was doing, and she had to know that it was making him crazy just standing her and watching her. He stepped towards the railing as she leaned over, resting his arms against it and searching the undergrowth with his eyes, also checking along the walls, just to make sure he hadn't missed any of them. The two found Raptors were still where they had been discovered, looking up at Owen and Hannah. He shrugged at her words about the game of hide-and-seek, "I thought that you would've liked to find them yourself, you seem like your independent in that way. Like to figure things out on your own without people telling you what you missed and what to do, that's probably why your the Curator," he looked over when she hopped up onto the railing. His eyes widened as he watched her lean back too far, sure he trusted the Raptors, but they had instincts that would take over just like any creature at the park, and if Hannah fell into the pen, they he wouldn't be able to stop them from attacking her. So, he lunged forward, his hands barely closing around her wrists. He caught her just in time, though she was hanging over the railing with him holding on to her, the remaining two Raptors came out from their hiding places to several feet below Hannah's feet as they looked up at her, waiting for her to fall. Tightening his grip, Owen pulled Hannah up and over the railing, setting her on her feet, shaking his head and looking over the railing at the four now found Raptors. "What were you thinking? They could've killed you," he shook his head, looking over at the woman whom he had saved from almost certain death.

message 19: by мαr ♚ (new)

мαr ♚ | 264 comments "Well, you can try and look smooth next to the pens, just make sure I'm close enough to you to catch you when you almost fall to your death," Owen said, looking down at her from his height above her. He noted how close that he was to her, barely centimeters apart and cocked his head to the side when Hannah raised an eyebrow at him, mentioning that this would not have been the first time she had fallen into one of the creature's pens, he wondered for a moment if that was how she had got her scar but decided not to speak upon his curiosity. "I'm sure you knew they could've killed you," he said gently, "but you just need to be more careful, there's a reason for the 'Do Not Stand or Sit on Railing' signs on this high rise." They met eyes for a moment before Hannah looked over the railing and down at the last two Raptors that had come out of their hiding place when she had fallen over the railing. A smile pulled at the corners of Owen's mouth when she thanked him, "It's no problem, really. I couldn't let the Curator get killed by my Raptors, now could I?" There was a moment of silence after that, where the two of them just stood on the high rise, not speaking, just gazing at each other, Owen's skin seemed to be live with electricity while he looked at Hannah, noticing again that they were barely centimeters apart. He was tempted to break the space between them, but he told himself not to though it took much of his will-power to keep himself under control.

мαr ♚ | 264 comments Owen coughed lightly at Hannah's words, becoming embarrassed for the first time that day. He rubbed the back of his neck, trying to make the heat that had gathered their fade away. It surprised him when Hannah poked him in the stomach, but the action made him smile. The women he had dated before hadn't hardly been brave enough to even hold his hand or hug him, but here was Hannah who had just poked him in the stomach. He couldn't help but smile at her when she looked up at him through her thick eyelashes, his eyes slipping down to her lips for a moment before returning to her eyes. When she asked him out he nodded, "Of course," he said, his smile widening. Laughing lightly when she said that if he screwed up since she was his boss she would be able to fire him, once again his eyes slipped down to her lips, right now he could just imagine himself kissing the hell out of her. But she must've noticed him looking at her lips, for she told him that she didn't kiss until the first date. "Well, then I guess I just have to wait until tomorrow night, then," he replied, watching her as she walked away, raising a hand to wave at her before dropping that hand and shoving it into his pocket.

message 21: by мαr ♚ (new)

мαr ♚ | 264 comments The next evening, Owen had returned from working in the park with the Raptors later than he usually did. So he showered quickly and dressed in one of his nicest pairs of black cargo pants and his absolute nicest pair of work boots as well as a white cotton tank top underneath a black short sleeve button up shirt. For him, this was considered dressing up since he usually wore worn out pairs of cargo pants and old boots and old T-shirts and a raggedy old vest to work. He was looking forward to seeing Hannah's face, he didn't think she had seen him clean up this nice.

While he waited patiently for her to arrive he was carefully arranging things at the side of his home so that there wasn't just a bunch of stuff scattered all over place, he was being extremely careful not to get his clothing or his skin dirty, he had to look sharp for his date after all. When he heard someone clear their throat loudly--which he guessed was Hannah--Owen turned around and raised an eyebrow at the red haired woman, but his expression almost faltered when he saw her, she sure did look great. "I've been ready for a while now," Owen replied when she said that they couldn't be late for reservations, stepping around the pile he had been working on before she had arrived and walking over to where she was standing. "You look good," he complimented her, smiling down at the Curator.

message 22: by мαr ♚ (new)

мαr ♚ | 264 comments A smile pulled up the corners of Owen's mouth when Hannah complimented him, then said how she always looked good--and she really did--and that he should come up with something else to say the next time he compliments her. He took note of how close the two of them were, Hannah's head tilted up so she could maintain eye contact with him, his heart was pounding when she pulled away and brushed past him and he turned to let his eyes follow her. A chuckle escaped his mouth when she pointed at his bike that was parked next to the porch, he nodded when she asked if he rode it, he wouldn't have the bike if he didn't.

His eyes continued to follow her when she began walking back to her car, he jumped off the porch when she called to him and straightened his black button-up T-shirt before walking to the passenger side of the Mercedes and opening the door before climbing inside. Already he could feel his excitement building up--the kind of excitement that you could feel in your chest and your stomach, words could not begin to explain how much he had been looking forward to this date with Hannah. But most importantly he was looking forward to the moment that he got to kiss her. After all, she had said she didn't kiss until the first date, and this would be their first date. He had the feeling that the perfect moment would come, and when it did he wouldn't be able to contain his happiness.

message 23: by мαr ♚ (new)

мαr ♚ | 264 comments "I gotta keep my grass green, don't I?" Owen replied when he heard the sound of the wheels of Hannah's Mercedes kicking up dirt from the wet grass of his front yard. He silently wondered what restaurant she had made reservations for them at, whichever one it was it would be a whole new experience for him because he never went to any of the restaurants in the park or on the island. He turned his head to listen to Hannah as she spoke, telling him that she had lied about having reservations, and that where she was taking him was a secret. "Yeah, I was beginning to wonder if there was a restaurant out here," Owen replied and nodded, turning his eyes back to the gravel road. When the gravel turned into dirt Owen really began to wonder about where Hannah was taking him, and whether there might actually be a restaurant out here. The Mercedes slowed to a stop and Owen unbuckled his seatbelt, opening his door and stepping out, pausing for a moment to look around, he didn't see a restaurant or any kind of building. He followed Hannah through a hundred feet of thick underbrush and blinked in surprise when they came out onto a rocky overhang with a single tree near the edge with a blanket laid out underneath it, he could hear the ocean nearby and guessed that the outcropping hung over the ocean. He shook his head when Hannah asked if a picnic was too personal for their first date, "No. It's perfect," he replied, turning his head to smile at her.

message 24: by мαr ♚ (new)

мαr ♚ | 264 comments Owen had been just about to sit down when Hannah looked up at him, almost causing him to freeze where he was standing. Her hand reached up to grip the collar of his black shirt and she pushed him backwards until he felt his back being pressed up against the tree that shielded the picnic from the sun. For a moment, he could've sworn he had forgotten how to breathe when he felt Hannah press the frontside of her body to his, her petite frame and his body only have layers of clothing between them. Swallowing at her words he felt one of his hands rising from to ground to rest on her waist as she trailed her fingers up and down his chest, playing with the buttons of his shirt. It was when he pulled away that he remembered how to breathe and it took him a moment to clear his head before he sat down and crossed his legs, leaning his elbows on his knees as he watched her. "Lasagna? Did you know that I love lasagna?" He asked her, smiling as he set his chin in his hands, his eyes following her movements.

message 25: by мαr ♚ (new)

мαr ♚ | 264 comments Owen nodded and laughed once lightly, watching her as she pulled out a bottle of what he would've guessed to be wine, but was surprised when he found the bottle to be vodka. So she prefers straight vodka over a bottle of wine, he thought, one more thing we have in common. "Well then, I suppose we shouldn't drink too much then?" He asked her, surely she would pick up the meaning behind his words. His hand wrapped around the bottle when she handed it to him after taking a drink, he was surprised when she didn't make a face at the burning that the liquid would have created when she swallowed it. Leaning back against the tree he felt his side brush against Hannah's as he took a drink from the bottle, feeling the vodka burn all the way down his throat to his stomach before it settled their, he handed the bottle back to her after his drink, rolling his head around to watch her.

message 26: by мαr ♚ (new)

мαr ♚ | 264 comments He smiled at her cute giggle, watching her as she moved to put the vodka away and threw him a plastic fork that she had pulled out of the picnic basket as well as a fork for herself and a container that she opened to reveal a still steaming lasagna. Owen had caught his fork against his chest, and he now held it lightly in his and as she watched her balance the container between them, her side pressed against his as she said how she had forgotten plates. Somehow, he figured she had forgotten the plates on purpose, but he didn't mind. His eyes followed her movements as she forked a piece of the steaming lasagna and held it in front of his mouth, her hand hovering just above his chest to catch any pieces of the food that might fall off of the piece of lasagna. He smiled at her words, saying how she wanted him to try the lasagna first and since she had made it she hoped that she hadn't messed it up in any way. Opening his mouth, he took the piece of lasagna off of the fork she had held in front of him, chewing for a long moment, truly savoring the flavor, it was amazing. He swallowed and looked over at her, smiling. "That, had got to be some of the best lasagna I have ever tasted."

message 27: by мαr ♚ (new)

мαr ♚ | 264 comments His brows furrowed at Hannah's giggling, knowing that she was giggling about something that had to do with him. At her words about how he had some sauce on his face, he lifted a hand to wipe it away with his thumb just to have his hand smacked away by Hannah before he could, she had put the fork she had used to feed him in the container with the lasagna, and now had her hands cupping his face. He could not look her in the eyes, for her eyes were looking at his lips, he was completely aware of how far apart their lips were and how little movement he would have to do before he kissed her. It surprised him when her tongue flicked out and caught the extra sauce on his mouth and she pulled away to stab a large piece of lasagna and put it in her mouth and chewing before she leaned back into his side. He chuckled and shook his head, "Thought your were going to make a move on me," he said, his voice low but even, she was close enough to him that he didn't have to speak to loudly.

message 28: by мαr ♚ (new)

мαr ♚ | 264 comments At her words and the slight deepening of her voice Owen lowered his eyes, shaking his head and chuckling lightly. "No, women don't usually lick things off of my face; that's just not what I expected," he said, raising his eyes when Hannah shoved the container of lasagna towards him, his quick reflexes that he had developed from working with the Raptors keeping the container from hitting him in the face and covering him with tomato sauce. He laughed once at her words, commanding that he eat or that she would turn into his mother, so he set the container of lasagna on his lap and stabbed a bite with his fork before plopping it into his mouth. His eyes followed her as she popped open a can of soda and took a few sips before she leaned back into his side making him smile. When the container was half empty he lifted his eyes from the food on his lap when he felt Hannah move and reach for a container of chocolate covered strawberries.

message 29: by мαr ♚ (new)

мαr ♚ | 264 comments He couldn't help but smile back at her when she smiled widely at him from where she sat leaning into his side eating a chocolate covered strawberry. His eyes followed her movements as she moved the container off his lap and plopped down between his calves, the bowl of chocolate covered strawberries held in her hands. Owen nodded and reached out to wrap a finger around a lock of her red hair that had curled in the humidity in the air, marveling at the beautiful color before he gently pulled his hand away. "I would love some," he replied, a smile on his face.

message 30: by мαr ♚ (new)

мαr ♚ | 264 comments Owen was surprised when he found that Hannah ate what was left of the strawberry she had held out to him, pulling it away as he leaned forward to take a bite and finishing it off herself, telling him to come and get the berry now. Chuckling nervously, Owen looked down at the bowl of strawberries she had held out to him, the red juice from the strawberry she had just eaten smeared on her lips. He would've liked to have eaten a strawberry, but right now his thoughts were elsewhere, all he really wanted right now was to kiss her, to taste the strawberry flavor of her lips. But due to the fact that he did not want to get smacked, he held himself back and reached into the container that held the chocolate covered strawberries, withdrawing a particularly juicy looking berry. Her teasing grin still lingered on her lips, so Owen gave in to himself. He set the strawberry he had withdrew back into the container and gently slid it out of Hannah's hands and set it to the side. One of his hands rested upon her knee while the other reached up so that he could rub his thumb over her cheek, God, she drove him crazy, but it was a good crazy. He searched her eyes for a moment, searching for any sign that she might smack him or that he should stop, but he found none. Then, ever so slowly, he leaned forward and kissed her.

message 31: by мαr ♚ (new)

мαr ♚ | 264 comments At the feeling of Hannah kissing him back, Owen smiled against the Curator's lips. His hands had moved from where they had rested before the kiss to her waist, holding her against his body as he savored the taste of her lips. Once upon a time Owen had gone on a date with Hannah's sister Claire, but there was a rather good reason why he had never asked her on a second date. As selfish as it may sound, Claire was just too uptight and not exciting enough for him. But Hannah, she was perfect. She was the complete opposite of her sister; exciting and she could actually relax around him. That's what he loved about her, the loyalty she shows to who she really is. As they parted for air, Owen pressed his forehead against Hannah's, smiling. "Now that is what I call a kiss."

мαr ♚ | 264 comments Owen smiled at her laughter from his comment and ran a hand over his hair before letting it drop to his lap, watching her as she pushed against his chest lightly before turning around and leaning back against his chest, commenting on how he tasted like chocolate. "I haven't eaten any chocolate today, so I'm going to just go ahead and say that I naturally taste good," he replied and grinned, leaning his head back against the trunk of the tree he sat against. "You tasted like strawberries," he told her, looking up at the nearly cloudless blue sky above them.
