Guidon stood up and moved to Tyler's side, watching the sibling pair be equally curious about the two of them. "You know what?" Dr Herman said off-handedly, even if casually. The tone confused and frightened Ander. "Let's call it a day. These siblings obviously are frightened, and we've gathered some good data. Tomorrow, we will commence with the next set of trials. Bring them back to their cells." The technicians then began removing Avery from her bed and removed the helmet.
Tyler glanced at Guidon. So did that mean that the two of them would be working more with the outsiders tomorrow? He hoped so. While this was nerve racking it was also very interesting. And they understood them! He couldn't wait to see what else they could figure out. Avery looked over to her brother as she could move more now. She wished they'd put her and Ander together. Yeah she could talk to him but she'd barely seen him since they got here.
The technicians pushed Ander forward beside his sister. He reached out to give her hand a reassuring squeeze, the trial over for now. Ander then glanced back to Tyler and Guidon, curious about them. Tyler, when he had spoken, wasn't condescending or ordering. Ander wasn't nervous about them, but he didn't know what that meant."As for the both of you," Dr Herman said, "I'm quite impressed. Raleigh, take them to the lab to get them started on some practical skills." Raleigh stepped out and nodded, signalling for the two interns to follow him.
Tyler glanced at Gideon quickly as he followed after Raleigh. Avery squeezed his hand back, stepping closer to him, Are you okay? She asked him again. Were they being left alone for now? She hoped so...She still wasn't exactly sure what they'd been doing earlier. What do you think of that boy? He seemed.....nicer than the others.
'He's unusual. The both of them. They're...' Ander responded to his sister, trying to capture the strange feeling he got from Tyler. He didn't feel scared around the boy - simply just as curious as Tyler was in him. 'They know we understand them now though,' he added.Raleigh shook his head as he glanced at his clipboard, setting a fast pace as he marched from the room. "That was ballsy stuff from the pair of you," he admitted, glancing at them. Guidon was still wide eyed as he tried to process what had happened.
"What do you mean?" Tyler asked him, not really seeing how what he had done was that brave. he hadn't even really done that much, Guiden had been the one to figure put most of it. he'd talked to the outsider but....yeah.... she bit her lip. what can we do though? they would have figured it out eventually...what do you think will happen to us now?
"Well, taking direct orders and somewhat impressing Dr Hermann on your first day, on top of talking to an Outsider..." Raleigh elaborated, but dropped the topic when they came to the laboratory. "Coats on," he ordered, taking one with his name written on it for himself.'I don't know what they're going to do next, but from what I've seen and felt,' he paused to touch where the blade had been, 'we're too precious to them alive. They won't want to harm us...' He wasn't entirely sure about it, but he didn't want to think otherwise.
Wasn't the taking orders what they were supposed to do? He thought, but he didn't reply as he put on his lab coat, anxious to see what they'd be doing. She nodded, he seemed to be right. And she hoped so. Do you think they'll let us go when they're done? She doubted it though, and that doubt was easy for Ander to read.
Guidon followed, still riding the exhilaration of the previous lab. He entered after Raleigh who stopped them just at the door. "Needless to say - don't touch anything," he told them before walking down the aisle between two work benches that almost completely packed with scientists at work.'We need to prepare for the worst Avery...I don't think they'll let us go. If they are smart, they won't,' he murmured with a shake of his head as they turned onto the corridor with their cells.
Tyler followed after Raleigh, turning his head to try to get glimpses of what everyone was working on. "What are we going to be doing sir?" Tyler decided to ask, unable to contain his curiosity. I know..... She replied, letting out a breath. I hate this. I wish we could go home.
"Unfortunately nothing as interesting as you did before. Familiar with this?" he asked, arriving to two free spaces with stacks of agar plates and bacterial cultures. "We'll be plating bacteria?" Guidon asked, a bit disheartened by how menial the task was - repetitive and uninteresting.'We will. Somehow,' he assured her before they were separated and their respective cell doors opened.
Tyler sighed. I guess I couldn't have imagined it all to be like meeting the outsiders. Maybe next time they came back they'd get another chance to deal with the outsider some more. ((Anything else for them or want to skip to that night?))
((Nah, let's skip to the night. Luna and Evelyn need to decode the files at this point))"Same time tomorrow boys," Raleigh commanded as the hovercraft's plank lowered into the courtyard of their school compound. "And try not to blabber too much about today, hm?" he added casually but with firm intent - they couldn't say anything about what they had done.
"Yes sir." Tyler nodded as he stepped into the courtyard, he still couldn't believe what they had done first. Would they get to work more with the outsiders tomorrow? He hoped so...
Guidon looked at Tyler with open eyes. "But I guess he doesn't mean we can't talk to each other about it," he said in a low voice, noticing the other students walking around the courtyard, staring at them.
"Yeah...I mean, that can't hurt anything." Tyler agreed. He had to talk to someone about what had happened! The Outsiders....they were so different than what he'd expected.
"Come on, if we hurry, we can still make dinner," Guidon decided, noticing how dark the sky was. Perhaps they would run into someone who would understand in there.
Tyler glanced at his watch, surprised at how late it was. "come on!" He said, hurrying in that direction. There probably wouldn't be as many people left in there now, probably others like them that got internships.
Guidon hurried after him at a brisk pace, still under the influence of the exhilaration of their day. They entered the circular dining hall and found few people present, and those who were, were cleaning up.Luna poked at her food unappetisingly, still thinking about her day as well, albeit nervously.
Tyler wasn't far behind Guidon, he waved at Luna when he saw her, going to grab some food of his own. Evelyn was sitting near Luna. She still had the papers but they hadn't gotten a chance to look at them yet. She was curious. No one knew much about CAGE. This was bound to be interesting.
Luna couldn't help notice Guidon and Tyler's entrances, remembering they had their own eventuful day today. Normally they wouldn't sit together but maybe today they could? Guidon noticed them both and once he got his food, went to sit at Evelyn's table."Luna, come join us," he called to her, his excitement apparent.
Tyler was also waving her over after he sat with his food. Surly telling one or two people about today wouldn't hurt. He trusted Luna not to spread it around.Evelyn sat up a bit as the guys came over. They were at CAGE now. Maybe after her and Luna looked at the papers they could see if the guys knew anything about it?
Luna joined them tentatively, wondering why people that wouldn't usually talk to her be so amicable now. "How were your days?" Guidon asked, preparing how he would explain the occurrences of the day.
((Weren't Luna and Tyler friends? I might be wrong.))Evelyn cast a quick glance at Luna. "Pretty boring. Lots and lots of paperwork. I'm sure you guys did some interesting things...."
((I think they know each other but I don't remember a friendship per se...more like acquaintances))"We sure did," Guidon teased. Luna couldn't help ask, "Like what?" Guidon glanced to Tyler, bouncing with anticipation. In a much lower voice, he whispered "We saw the Outsiders."
Evelyn's eyes widened. "You've got to be kidding..." When she looked to Tyler for conformation and he nodded she swallowed, thinking of the papers they still had to read. "What were they like?" Tyler answered that one. "They look pretty much like us, and they can do these....things."
"What do you mean?" Luna asked nervously, thinking back to the title of that document they held. She glanced at Evelyn, wondering whether it would have anything to do with what they had discovered. "I don't want to say too much...but they can move things with their minds. They can talk to each other!" Guidon murmured.
Evelyn's eyes were wide. Sure there'd always been rumors about what outsiders could do but she'd never believed those ones. Always thought they were just stories to tell kids. "I'm hoping we'll get to work with them more tomorrow. It was amazing!"
"But what were you doing?" Luna had to ask. "Just preliminary medical tests. Nothing we haven't had done to ourselves," Guidon explained...he had to admit, he was nervous about it because they were probably unused to the scene, but they were not hurt in all of this.
"I'm hoping we get a chance to work with them more, there's so much that we can get from them. I want to know more about how they can do what they do."
"This is quite exciting...Evelyn and me saw something at work today as well," Luna had to admit. She certainly didn't think what they were talking about was entirely alright to blurt out, so what was the harm of the document's existence being revealed?
"What?" Tyler asked, looking between the two of them.Evelyn glanced at Luna for a moment before replying. "When we were filling papers we couldn't find one. We got our supervisor to print it. It's a CAGE document. We haven't gotten a chance to look at it yet though."
"A CAGE file? On what?" Guidon demanded. What other secret could they learn about CAGE? "Wait...is this...allowed?" he then had to ask. Luna then gulped, their little lie had been discovered. "How 'allowed' was what you told us then?" Luna returned.
"She has a point." Tyler glanced at Guidon. "We really weren't supposed to say anything either but it's done now." He looked to luna. "When were you guys planning on looking at the file?"
"We were going to do it after dinner," Luna admitted, glancing to Evelyn. She was the one with the file. "Well can we see it as well then?" Guidon questioned, moving to the edge of his seat.
Evelyn glanced at Luna, unsure. She was going to let Evelyn decide this one.
"You have to be quiet about it. And you have to tell us more about CAGE," Luna decided, wanting them to be as much in danger as they were. "I'm fine with that. Where are the papers?" Guidon questioned.
"I have them." Eveylen answered. "After we eat we can find an empty room and look through them"
"Well, I'm done then," Guidon responded, no longer hungry and more anxious to see the papers than anything. Luna had to agree that she wasn't in the mood for food anymore.
"Definitely." Evelyn agreed, getting up to throw her trash away. "There will probably be an empty corner of the library now. want to go there?"((your post in E vs P I think.))
((Oh okay))"Let's," Luna finally agreed, putting her tray away and wiping her nervous palms against her uniform trousers. "We'll meet the pair of you at the library?" Guidon suggested.
Evelyn nodded. "See you there in a few." Tyler was nervous about this, but excited too. A secret document. Who knew what it would say. And working with CAGE him and Guidon would find out a lot more too.
"Lighten up Luna - you look so nervous," Guidon added, nudging as they made their way to the library. She folded her arms and forced a tight smile in return.
There weren't that many people in the library at this point and the four of them found a corner in the back, pulling some chairs around. "Alright, let's look at it." Tyler having gotten more anxious. Evelyn glanced around first, not seeing anyone she pulled out the papers.
Luna dared to glance at the title once more, remembering the thrill they had felt upon seeing it for the first time.Guidon wanted to reach out to take it from Evelyn, but controlled himself as he read the title and cover page hungrily. "What's inside?" he asked.
"We haven't looked yet." Eveyln took a breath before opening it up.Tyler had gone behind the girls to get a better view of it's contents.
Guidon quickly skimmed at the many words on the first page, picking up the big names of CAGE and the references of some experiments."Turn to page 10," Luna said, pointing at a line that indication the 'profiles' were on that page. Maybe this would point them in the right direction.
evelyn nodded, quickly flipping over to that page.
"Look at this," Luna said agape as she saw boxes and boxes of names and photographs of Outsiders. There seemed to be tens of them, maybe a hundred. The most ominous thing was that there was a red mark across every picture, along with a deceased stamp. Guidon felt his stomach drop.
Tyler swallowed nervously, glancing once more at the Outsider, Ander, as he walked back over to his previous spot. What else were they going o do today?
Even though her brother was no longer in as much danger, Avery stayed still, not fighting the restraints.
