I read many sci-fi anthologies years ago (1980's mostly), and I recently remembered a story I'd like to reread. It was about a time in the (not-so) future when humans have lost all math skills through reliance on computers. Then one day the computer breaks, and the scientists don't know what to do, until someone shows them that (for example) 2 + 3 = 5, and that it is the same EVERY TIME YOU DO IT. Eventually, they decide that they have to learn to compute once again (I think).

This is the theme of the Isaac Asimov story A Feeling of Power, which is the most likely candidate, as it's in a lot of anthologies, though I think there are also other stories with this theme.
