I'm kind of confused so far......

oh and of course(view spoiler)[ I think it's completely obvious that violet actually committed the crime that Ori went away for - sounds like possibly stabbing 2 girls to death - I just don't understand why they are keeping all this from us (hide spoiler)]

I'm finished with the book. This ending was messed up. I got some questions for when you guys get to the end.

I was not a big fan of this book. I thought they spent too much time with Amber and she didn't have much to do with main situation. I'm glad some things worked out whereas other things were confusing.


Hopefully you guys end up liking this more than I did.

I'm not sure the point of Amber other than to be a witness to the strangeness.
she saw Violet there before she should have been and was a part of that vision
and she was there for Ori to first be nice to
and....yeah. Her story itself doesn't mean much in the big picture, at least not that I can see (hide spoiler)]

I have a feeling that your spoiler will be answered toward the end; however, I also think that since this has a ghostly element (paranormal?) that it might not ever be answered with reason/logic that we will understand.

I might be in the minority here, but I love it because I have to use my brain and the answers might be so debatable, which I love. LOL

Hannah, I think I have my own spin on answers for your questions.

1. (view spoiler)[ Ori was the only girl in there that wasn't really guilty. So....for maybe this one odd moment, the stars and planets aligned, and Ori was able to switch places with Violet - because Violet was the truly guilty one.
so when they switched places, they switched lives. and Ori was able to take the life that Violet had set up - since that was the life Ori should have had and Violet should have always been the one in jail (hide spoiler)]

2. (view spoiler)[ because they are risidual spirits - set to just repeat the same month over and mover.
who knew Amber would be so awful. poisoning them all??
because she couldn't face release and face what she'd done (hide spoiler)]

I thought this was an interesting book(view spoiler)[ but I felt like the ghost story aspect wasn't well done
and I would have liked a better tie in for Amber
I get now why it was told from her perspective but I think it felt odd reading it that way (hide spoiler)]

Finished and I loved it! I thought the writing was beautiful and well-done. I loved the mystery, the complex characters, the paranormal aspect, all of it.

I am off to Costco with hubby, then in a couple hours another doctor appointment. I might not post more today since I'll be so busy, but I thought this was really good and I'll read her books again.

Did you girls know that one of the colleges (forgot the name now but can find it again if anyone wants to know) has adopted this book for ALL incoming freshmen to read? Pretty cool, huh? So it's literary qualities have been noticed. I would LOVE to take that class!
