McKensie and Lara III

Camilla smiled softly, flushed at his kindness and chivalry. She nodded moving the sheets so he could get to them easier. She was barely wearing a slip and that would have to be moved. She bit her lip her face turning red "sorry...just got a bit nervous..." She whispered and took his hand for support, showing him that she trusted and loved him but it was still difficult none the less.
Mani chuckled kissing her forehead and carrying her to her tent and getting her tucked into the furs "rest now...I'll take care of your duties for today and then I'll have a nice dinner ready when you awake." He could tell she was tired, she never slept enough and now he had the power and ability to do something about it! He brushed her hair back amazed at her beauty and how just being near her made him fulfilled.
Ariella bit her lip "it's not forever goodbye...it's more like see you later I suppose...we'll come back and yes it will be difficult but I won't survive if I stay and I don't want to be without you...I care so much about you it hurts to breathe sometimes! I had to force myself not to because...I didn't think if you knew you'd want anything to do with me...but now I know and im sorry I ever thought less of you..."
Abby smiled grateful he was taking this ok and squeezed his hand rested on her stomach "yes he will...and he will be loved beyond measure and we'll have many other children but my sister may not...I know it's the right thing to do...but it will be the hardest." She admitted quietly laying on his shoulder "you sure you are ok?"

Flint nodded, his expression gentle as he stood and went into his work mode, where his mind was set on a task, and all other things seemed to pause and quiet for a while. He gently moved her slip aside and unwound the old bandages. He gently cleaned her wounds again, before pulling out the salve. "This should help..." he rubbed some more in where it looked to be the most painful, and then got fresh linen to wind around her wounds again. "Not too tight?" he asked to make sure, not wanting her to be uncomfortable.
Jennifer shook her head lightly, surprised at his offer, and she opened her mouth to resist, but sensed that he wouldn't be budging on this topic so she just nodded meekly, tucking her cheek against the furs. "You're far too lovely of a person, Mani, my goodness, do you have any flaws?" She teased, pulling the furs around herself. "See you tonight I suppose." she whispered.
Ven swallowed, but nodded after a moment. It would be hard, saying goodbye to Mani and Flint for a while, but it was necessary, if he wanted to keep Ariella safe, and not have to watch her burn in front of the camp. So he nodded. "Alright. We'll stay away for a time then." he glanced at her, the fact that she thought of herself as lower hurt him. "Thank you. But it is in the past now, let's only look to the future." He insisted, squeezing her hand. "Ok?"
Reece wrapped his arm around her shoulders, giving it a light squeeze. "Yes he will be. We'll still know him as family. I admire you for making such a noble decision. I'm sure your sister is grateful." he promised, kissing her temple. "Trust me, it will be hard for me to give up our first born as well, but I've learned that life is full of hard things, and that often the right thing to do is the hardest." he smiled reassuringly. "We'll both be alright." He promised.

Camilla whimpered though she tried ever so hard not to as he cleaned and rubbed the salve into her still fresh wounds. She gripped onto the sheet trying to stay still for him as a few stray tears slipped down her cheek. She shook her as he asked if it was too tight and grabbed onto his hand when she was sure he was through and just held on saying nothing. The gesture in of itself let him know that she needed him, for support and love to feel better...she needed him to stay. She never thought of herself needy as she was an orphan and took care of herself for so long. This was still new and a little frightening the strong sensations she got around him.
Thomas went to Rachelle's father as he was beckoned and asked to bring Nym. Nym was almost three and loved to toddle around and hug people's legs like a little sloth. She gripped onto Thomas' at the moment "is this about her marks sir? Have you found the orgin?"
Ariella nodded and cupped his face slowly leaning in and kissing him softly before pulling back looking up at him "alright...I think..I think I love you Ven...I don't know what love is but I know what it isn't...I feel so safe and beautiful with you...I feel...like I want to be at your side supporting you as you have me..."
Abby nodded and nuzzled his neck softly "thank you for being ok with this...and reminding me of things that I keep forgetting...it isn't as if we'll never see him again...he'll be our nephew and be well loved...and we can get married and no one will no of our transgression, though I regret none of it..."
((Would it be a crazy idea that right before Abby gives birth Ella finds out she is with child and Abby can keep the child.))

April could hardly even imagine what this all truly meant. Her sister was pregnant! She'd... she'd have a niece or nephew in a few months! "My goodness, this is quite the news! I am so incredibly pleased for you as well." She squeezed her hand. "You'll make a wonderful mother... and if theres ever anything I can do..." She said meaningfully. "I suppose we'll have to get the dresses altered a bit for you. But maybe just look at them and pick a colour you like? I want them to suit my maid of honour." She smiled gently.
Flint tried his very best to be just as gentle as he could with her. He hated knowing that he hurt her in any way at all, so he was very careful as he finished wrapping up her wounds and replacing her slip again. He tucked the furs around her, and then brushed away a stray tear from her cheeks. "You're very brave." he whispered, sitting beside her with a gentle smile. "And I think you'll heal quite well. You were lucky not to permanently cripple yourself by falling down that ravine." he said honestly. "Is there anything I can get you to make you more comfortable?"
Rachelle's father looked up and he nodded his weathered face, gesturing for them to come in. "Yes yes. Very strange markings." he looked down at the scroll in his hands, and then up at Nym, and down at the scroll, and then up at Nym again. "I've only been able to decipher some of the runes. It's like she's got her fate written on her skin. This one..." He pointed. "Means great destiny. This one means a trial. This one here.... I think it means wind, or water... not quite sure yet. I just wanted to let you know that I've made progress."
Ven found himself surprised at her kiss, even though he knew he probably shouldn't be, since this was allowed, and he had certainly flirted with girls before. "I..." He swallowed, for once, having nothing to say. He was at a loss for words, and it was't something he was used to. "I think... I think I love you too...." he swallowed, hating this feeling of awkward unsurity. He was used to having everything to say.
Reece nodded, glad she was feeling encouraged. "Exactly." He whispered, his fingers running through the silky strands of her hair as he held her. "I regret only that I do not remember as well as I could. But we can make a new future for ourselves now." He said, squeezing her shoulders. "And that future starts with you getting well again... alright? I heard you wandering the halls last night... I want you to get some rest."

Brooklyn smiled and nodded kissing her sister's cheek and standing to glance over the many dresses that seemed to her to be the same color. Would she ever tell her sister this? Heavens no! She didn't need to bring out the crazy bride hiding in her dear sister just yet. She spread out a skirt of one she found simple and elegant very much her style with no frills or tucks that never seemed practical to her. "What about this? It should hide the belly well and I think it's nice." She said honestly looking back at her for her opinion.
Camilla curled up in the furs still holding his hand to her nuzzling it ever so often. "No I'm quite comfortable here...I'm a bit cold, would it be too much to ask to just lay by me? You are so warm and comforting..." She admitted and played with his long fingers just loving each scar and callus knowing that she was falling in love with him.
Thomas nodded his thanks and picked up his little girl and kissed her as she hugged him around the neck "I don't think we should know her future...she needs to experience it and not live in fear...thank you for all you do..." He said sincerely and watched the old man concerned "are you well?"
Ariella beamed glad he felt the same and laid down holding onto his tunic and staring out of the tent to the bustle going on without them "are you sure you are ok with leaving?..." She had to be sure, he was giving up everything for her and she didn't want to make him regret it all.
Abby looked up at him and sighed "I've been anxious and it's not easy concealing the symptoms of a child...I'm sorry if I kept you up...I just, feel sick and conflicted. Too many new thoughts and I love my baby...but I know that it's best for Ella to take him...but how will I not ache and long for him as he grows?"

April peered over the dress seriously, trying to analyze how it might look on her, and then she nodded, a smile breaking out on her features. "Yes, I very much approve. I think it works with your style and mine." She hugged her. "And will definitely conceal my little growing niece or nephew. When will you know?" she asked, as she hung the dress up on a separate rack, to make sure they remembered which they wanted. "When will I know the gender of our newest family member?" She asked eagerly. "They can tell that pretty early on, can't they?"
Flint swallowed nervously. It was rather a large request, one that he could easily grant, but one he had never ever thought of being able to do, due to the restrictions on him earlier. Now they could. He could grant her this. He nodded. "Sure." He said softly, lowering himself beside her, close enough that he could help keep her warm. He expected the world to blow up or end or something, but there was just that nice comforting warmth, and he relaxed. "I'm glad to help." He said softly.
The elder nodded in agreement, "I think that is wise of you." He agreed, setting the scroll back down among his collection. "I can stop looking to answers for what the rest of the runes are, if you wish. But I will warn you, others may be able to read them, and they may tell her what they say." He sat wearily down by the fire. "She must know, as she grows up, that no fate is set in stone. The one written on her at birth may be different than the one destined for her as she grows." He clasped his weathered hands and stared at the flames. "I'm alright... I'm just old and tired. I've been on this earth for many a winter."
Ven glanced where her gaze went and he swallowed. It would only be for a year or two... only a short while... they could come back after that, and spend the rest of their lives with their friends. "Yeah. I'm fine. It's the best thing to do." He smiled back down at her. "It's only for a year or two... we'll be back." He encouraged, both her and himself. "I suppose we should start packing..."
Reece nodded, knowing why it must be troubling for her, but he wished he could do something to help. He hated knowing that she ached like that.... the poor girl. "You will long for him. That is normal. You are his mother." He pecked her temple. "But I will be your husband, and I will be there to help you, we can make it through this together... I hope..." he swallowed. "I hope that we will have the chance to have many more children." He squeezed her shoulders. "But you help no one by worrying and fretting. It will not make anything get better... so please try to rest at night?"

Camilla nuzzled him and sighed in relief, his presence and warmth eased all of her pain and anxiousness. She lay her head into his neck and closed her eyes inhaling his scent "good night flint...thank you for...for everything..." She whispered already falling asleep which was miraculous with all the pain she was feeling. She felt safe and felt like she wanted to tell him the truth "I jumped..." She whispered letting him know she didn't fall into the ravine, but he made her want to stay.
Thomas watched the old man concerned and sat by him as Nym ran to her mother wanting to be held and snuggled. "Sir...there are herbs that quicken the process...are you waiting to meet your grandchild or what is it? You look to be in pain and I've always respected you as my own father...Ven is almost of age to take the place or Habi?" He put his hand on his knee "it's time..."
Aria nodded and slowly got up as she held him needing that before going to her own tent "meet me by the waterfall...I know a path to the city..." She admitted though it was forbidden to travel it.
Abby nodded and leaned in to kiss his lips "let us head in, I am hungry...and I need nurishment. In fact I want food!" She tugged him to her and led them inside. She smiled as she saw a maid of honor dress on her door "Joyella..." She said warningly knowing she was close around. She hated poofy dresses and oh boy it was poofy.

Flint nodded, wrapping an arm around her waist gently to tuck her into his side as she relaxed and he felt her start to drift off to sleep. "Don't mention it." he whispered. However, her last comment made pain knot up deep inside him, and he swallowed hard. She had jumped? His arm tightened a bit around her, as if he could save her from whatever made her wish to do that. He meant to say something, but he didn't want to keep her up any longer. "I'm glad you're alive." he just said softly.
The elder was silent for a moment, and then he shook his head. "I will not quicken the process. Nature will claim me soon enough as it is." He said softly, a sigh escaping his tired body. He was in pain, as he always was, as of late. "My bones are old, my body is old. It can't put up with travel like it once could... but I don't know... I don't like leaving without having seen my grandchild... without at least knowing that my family and the clan I've strived to serve for so many years will continue to flourish and be safe. I can't leave without that peace of mind." he said softly. "Habi already has enough work, as the healer, and training Flint as well. But Ven will step up in a few years... when he is ready. I need someone to watch the clan until then..."
Ven nodded in understanding. "I will see you soon." He hugged her back and then started gathering up his things. There wasn't much to pack, as the gypsies traveled light anyways, but it was still sad seeing his cot stripped, and all his things bundled up while his friend's belongings lay still strewn about. "I'll be back." he promised silently, before slipping out and travelling to the waterfall, to wait for Aria.
Reece smiled, closing his eyes as he kissed her back and then stood. "Food sounds wonderful." he agreed honestly. It was well past lunch, as they had spent a good many hours there. "Anything in mind?" he said as they rounded on their door to find a ball gown hanging on her door. It was fairly flashy, and Reece found himself grinning as Joyella bounced around the corner. "Oh I know it's kind of frilly... but isn't it just gorgeous?" She giggled. "I couldn't resist! If you really must take off some of the frills... I suppose I could get it altered... but love, you'd look stunning in it!" She insisted. "And the poof will help hide your newest member of the family." She added a little softer.

Camilla was sound asleep curled up to him, her hand clenching his tunic and resting on his stomach. She looked innocent and soft as she slept in the man she adored arms. Not being plagued by fears and nightmares that made her want to end it all. She found something to live for.
Thomas sighed thinking about the other men in the tribe "Nathaniel, Lexander? Maxim?" He offered and then it dawned on him who he met "me?...sir, I am not of gypsy blood...I can't be an elder...a third of the tribe still doesn't trust me or Jen as we were not born into the clan...how could I take your place?" He was shocked and taken aback by the suspicion. He never saw himself in that role.
Aria gathered all of her things and pecked jen's cheek as she slept and headed to the waterfalls. She saw a figure waiting and ran to him thinking that it was Ven. It wasn't him. She gasped as a hand went around her mouth and a dagger to her back as he walked her to the edge of the 50 foot towering cliff that started the falls "jump...or I'll make sure your boy doesn't make it." Aria whimpered stepping closer to the edge scared that he would hurt her friends and Ven.
Abby looked at the dress skeptically and sighed morioning for Joyella to join her behind the changing screen as she tried on the dress thankful that Joyella got a size larger because she wasn't petite anymore. She frowned at the reflection she saw in the mirror "I look like a fairy godmother!" She complained and tugged at the poof "half the poof and it'll be passable.." She saw her friends face and sighed "I'll wear it...I won't like it but if you do...it's your wedding."

The old man's face wrinkled into a smile that was a little less tired. "You are of gypsy blood by marriage, twice. And your child is a true gypsy through and through, after being raised here. You said it yourself, I think if you as my son. I can think of no better man to take my place." A tired huff left him, that was bordering on wheezing. "Take care of them... please. Uphold the laws, do what is right, even if it hurts sometimes. Tell... tell Rachelle I love her, will you?" He coughed feebly. "I'm not one for goodbyes..."
Ven turned when he heard a strangled noise, and his own breath caught when he saw his love being held at knife point near the edge of the falls. He didn't know the man. His skin was too dark to be of this tribe. But he had a inkling to who had hired him for this job... and the fact that the elder was dealing with other tribes did not sit well with him at all. Faster than he could think, he had whipped out his knife and thrown it, spearing the man in the side of the head in one clean shot. The body tumbled like a rag doll over the falls. For a moment, Ven just stared at Aria, and then the reality of what he had just done crashed down around him and he sank to his knees, trembling and staring at his hands... he had just killed a man...
Flint watched over Camilla, making sure she was alright, before he too, dozed off.
Meanwhile in another part of camp, the elder in question was dragging a sobbing figure out of a tent by her hair. It was Jennifer, and while she looked unhurt, there were bloody nail marks down the elder's cheek. "This girl will be lashed for harassing her betters!" He bellowed, dumping her in the centre of camp. Everyone knew the punishment for a girl's actions of that nature, and no one made a move to stop the elder as he took cord and bound her shaking wrists to one of the posts used to hitch the donkeys. Jen was shaking all over, and tears were plastering her hair to her face, but she said nothing, knowing how this looked.
Joyella surveyed he ran the dress and a smile broke out on her features. She loved her friend, and she thought she looked gorgeous with all the poof, not to mention it would hide a child.... but hey. If she was upset about it, who was she to force her into something she didn't want to be seen in. "We'll make a compromise, I'll get the seamstresses to cut down the poof as much as they can, while still making it look enough like the dresses the other girls are wearing. Fair?" she asked, smiling gently. "You're my best friend... I don't want you unhappy." she insisted.

Thomas helped lay him down and squeezed his hand, he frowned seeing a piece of parchment that was placed into his that read 'stop Elder Drake." He looked at the old man but it was too late he had left this earthly existence. He slipped on the spare Elder robe and medallion stepping out of the tent going to find Rachelle to let her know.
Mani ran to the post stopping blocking her from the first blow, he saw evil in the man always had and started to sing, beckoning all to tell the truth. Dozens of girls some now with children and husbands stepped forward strongly "he took advantage of us...many girls have died because they were deemed as harlots..." Mani looked at him shocked as he pushed the man away from the post "and what truth do you have to say." Still controlling with his voice, he didn't see the blade cut down across his face and sink into his chest. He gasped out in pain sinking to his knees.
Aria looked at him shakily still in shock at what happened, she looked down at the water too hazy to see the body and made her climb back down and pounced him into a hug holding on tightly as she sobbed.
Abby smiled and nodded "just enough to hide the child." She insisted and felt dizzy all of the sudden nearly crashing into the mirror as nausea took over. Ugh it was awful carrying a child. The corsets were tightened to hide the bump and it was cutting off her breath. "I need to lie down...bring me some fabric so we can make the first cushion for Ella..."

Michael picked up, frowning in confusion as he didn't get many calls. Then he smiled brightly. "Brook! My goodness it's been a while! I was worried about you, where you've been and what's been happening. It's so good to hear from you again. To what do I owe the pleasure?" He asked easily, sitting down by the phone.
Rachelle was distraught, seeing the escapade in the centre of their caravan, and she ran into Thomas first, as he had been looking for her. "Where is my father! He must come now and take care of this! Drake has many girls confessing of his unwholesome behaviour, and he's trying to whip Jen for scratching him, and he just stabbed Mani!" she said in hysterics. "He must come now, where is he? He has to banish this man!"
Jennifer knew the lash was coming by the whistle in the air, and when it snapped, she flinched. But it had not landed on her. She craned her neck as best as she could and saw Mani above her. Relief flooded her as she knew he would protect her. But when he started singing, she witnessed many many girls come forwards and tell of the unspeakable things that had been done to them. She found her own mouth professing that Drake had tried to push himself on her when she scratched him.
Drake's face was growing more and more enraged. "Nothing more than what has already been said." he hissed as he whipped out a knife and lashed at Mani. The singing was making his movements jerky, so while he aimed to stab him in the eye, the knife slashed across his face instead and ended up lodging in his shoulder. The singing stopped at least and he stood up taller, wrenching out the knife and returning it to his sheath. "This boy is a threat to our camp. He just forced all of you to tell lies. The girl will still receive punishment for her actions and the boy will die for what he has done." he said spitefully, picking up the whip again.
Jen had seen the knife flash, but not the extent of the damage. She only heard Mani gasp and fall and immediately a scream tore through her throat. "Mani!" She wrenched at the cords that held her, trying to get to him, to hold him, to heal him. "Some one help him!" she screamed, struggling to get towards him even as Drake lay the first lash.
Ven was shaking all over his eyes wide as he slowly wrapped his arms around Aria. She was safe and alive... and he had killed a man... he buried his face in her shoulder, his breathing shallow. "I'm so sorry..." he mumbled. "I'm so so sorry...."
Joyella smiled, glad that they had reached a compromise. When her friend swerved, she reached out and steadied her, helping her out from behind the screen. "Of course. Let me help you." She offered, expertly helping her out of the lace and fabric again and throwing it over the changing screen as she helped her friend into her bed. "You rest here. I'll have the maids bring some lunch and the fabric." She assured, tucking the blankets around her.

Thomas was shocked at everything that had come to pass in a short time. He grabbed onto the traumatized girls shoulders and looked into her eyes "I'm so sorry Rachelle your father has just passed onto the next life...he has past his Elder status onto me...I will take care of this." He ran to the center and grabbed his wrist from lashing again. He glared at him his power eminating "you are an evil deceiving man! No longer shall you harm another!" He knew the proper protocol would not work for this kind of man so he slit his throat "may Ira have mercy on your soul..." He knew he would be forgiven by killing a man as he just brought safety to all the females in the camp. He untied his daughter and held her close to him "I've got you,.."
Aria shook her head shaking as she held him tightly and then looked up as she heard the commotion of the camp. She tugged him back and watched in shock as the man that destroyed her was executed. She nearly collasped into Ven's arms overcome by emotion. They didn't have to leave...she and many other girls were free.
Abby nodded gratefully "and get Reece...I fear he is worried about me." She rested her eyes grateful to be free from dresses and corsets she ran her hand over her stomach feeling a movement within and longing to be able to be the mother but she couldn't go back on her word to her sister and this too shall pass...

Rachelle stared at Thomas for a good full seconds, not moving even after he turned and dashed off. Then her eyes filled with tears and a soft strangled noise escaped her. She ran to her father's tent and knelt weakly beside him, a tear rolling down her cheek. "Papa..." She whispered, laying her head beside him and crying quietly.
The camp was distraught, not sure what to do as the boy they had watched grow up lay bleeding and the girl who everyone knew he loved screamed and tried to get to him even as she was lashed. Everyone was silent as Thomas appeared, wearing the elder's robes and medallion. They had yet to see justice served, and when Drake's throat was slit and he gagged, collapsing lifeless a little ways from Mani, audible relief washed over the camp. They were safe. Their wives and daughters and loves were safe. Jennifer couldn't see her eyes were so filled with tears, and her tongue felt raw and as swollen as her throat from screaming. She couldn't see Mani anymore, but her mind still showed her images of him bleeding. Familiar arms released her wrists and held her close and she crumpled into her father, shaking all over. She didn't understand why he was wearing different clothes, but she knew the pain in her heart would only worsen if something was not done about Mani. "Save him..." She whispered, trembling all over as she clutched her father. "Please.... I could not live if he died." She sobbed, in shock from the pain in her back, and the pain in her heart.
Ven had never seen so much death in his life. He had killed a man, and then the man who had been the cause of all this, was executed as well. So much death... and there, his best friend lay bleeding not far away. "So much blood." He murmured, clutching Aria rather protectively. She was safe now, but it was hard for him to let her go after everything. "Where is Habi and Flint? Mani needs medical attention."
Joyella nodded, patting her friend's hand. "Don't you worry, I'll take care of everything." She promised, leaving the room. She found Reece not far outside, and she told him he could go in and see Abby, before she fetched a maid to make lunch and went to the seamstress to gather some fabric.
Reece entered the room shyly, not sure if he should be in a woman's quarters, so he glanced nervously at Abby, and ducked his head. "Are you alright?" he asked.

Thomas nodded and went to get Habi up as well as Flint. The boy needed help. He took great care to get the body cremated and buried and the blood buried making it look like it was before the trauma and events. He faced the crowd and waved his hand in dismissal as they departed and he went to Ven "as the eldest elder...I hereby grant you Elder, will you accept the role and bring justice...and mercy back into the tribe? I have some rules I want to revise."
Mani groaned as he was taken to the medic camp "I don't want stitches!" He pleaded knowing it was going to be incredibly painful and his face...distorted...he would never be the same but no one that witnessed this event would be.
Abby nodded pulling him down with her "you used to come in here all the time...and as my fiancé it is permitted...are you ok?" She cupped his face watching his eyes concerned "do you need your medication?"

When Matthew had figured out what the phone call was about, he had bristled, nervous, but the man seemed nice, and if he was going to be there as well... then maybe it would be alright. He squeezed her hand back.
It took all of the time that Thomas spent cleaning up the camp for Ven to stop shaking. He knew he'd have nightmares tonight about the knife going through that man's scull, but for now... there were more important things to be dealt with, and he had to get a grip. That Thomas, the now head elder wanted Ven to step up immediately was a huge honour, and Ven nodded, clasping his fist to his chest as he bowed. "I'd be honoured." he insisted.
Jen trailed behind Habi and Flint as Mani was carried to the medical tent. Her own back stung, but it was hardly noticed beyond the worried pain in her heart. She sat beside Mani, running her fingers through his hair to try and calm him. His face looked horribly bloody and wounded, and there was a fairly deep gash in his shoulder as well. It would scar. But she'd still love him. She watched warily as Flint dabbed away the blood and Habi prepared a needle and thread. She knew how much Mani hated stitches. "I'm here... you'll be alright." She whispered, cradling his head and hoping to help him through this. As much as she didn't want to see him in any more pain, she also knew that she wanted him to live, and if he bled anymore, that would be a problem.
Reece sat down beside her, finally relaxing as she said he would be allowed here. "Good. I was worried some maid would come in and chase me out with a broom." he teased, pecking her nose as he nodded. "I'm alright for now. The headaches aren't too bad. I'll need more medication later, but not for a while, a few hours at least." he promised.

Aria smiled softly and hugged him tightly "I'm so proud of you!" She said sincerely cupping his face "this all worked out for the best...I'm going to go to Maria to take care of the problem...be good I'll see you tonight ok?" She promised and kissed his lips heading to Maria "Maria?...I need your help..."
Mani winced as he saw the needle and closed his eyes trying to pay attention to his love trying to soothe him. He winced as his father started and tried to relax but it was torture to him and it took a lot not to thrash. As he went to his shoulder he cried out a deep that yell of agony as if was on the nerve "stop!"
Abby sighed in relief "are you remembering much more? Or is it still a painful strain?" She asked worried about her future husband "do you remember how you proposed? You have me a bouquet of different flowers and told me I represented them all...the ring was in a pink rimmed white rose..."

Maria looked up as the woman came in... one of Jen's friends, and she smiled kindly, nodding. "Anything dear, what do you need?" She asked, willing to please, especially when it came to the girls, they were all so sweet and kind. Their generation had certainly been raised well. Though she was worried for this girl. She had been one of the ones to be targeted by the elder, and she was wondering how she was holding up. "Is everything alright?"
Jennifer kept trying to distract Mani, kissing his hair, but trying to stay out of the way. She couldn't watch. She saw the first time the needle went through his forehead and looked away after that, burying her face into his hair and kissing him over and over, telling him how brave he was. She was crying after a few moments, hurting because he was hurting so badly, shaking under her fingers. When he cried out, a soft sob escaped her and she looked pleadingly at Habi. "Is there nothing you can do to make this easier on him?" Habi looked to be having a rough time of it too, but he sighed, nodding finally. "I didn't want to give him this, because it would make him drowsy, but I suppose it's for the best." he handed her a capful of deep red liquid. Jennifer nodded, lifting up Mani's head gently. "Drink this, love, it will help." She whispered, holding the cap to his lips and tipping it back. She hated to see him so hurt... and with a long line of black stitching crossing his face... at least he was no longer bleeding.
Reece thought seriously for a moment, wondering how to explain what was going on in his head. "It still hurts to strain, but more comes back every day." he said honestly. "I remember odd things at odd times. Sometimes a smell triggers a memory I didn't know I had... or a sound... or a look." he tried to explain. "Though yes, I do remember bits of proposing. I remember picking out the flowers." He smiled lightly at her. "And I remember being insanely nervous before giving them to you." He admitted. "My hands were shaking so much I thought I'd rattle the ring right out of that rose..." He blushed.

Ariella loved this woman like her own mother, she smiled softly and bit her lip knowing this was a safe place and she trusted her "I'm...a gone woman...I need to have it removed, I won't bring his child into this world for I know I can't love it..." She whispered ashamed "you were so good with me the night of the ceremony...and everyone found out...I trust only you..."
Mani felt the needle stop digging in his muscle and skin, he didn't know really what was going on as something warm and bitter entered his mouth, he nearly spit it out but his head was tipped back forcing him to slowly. Then after that it was a blurry haze and he was out like a light, not flinching everytime the needle went in or crying out he looked to be completely at peace. Which was well since he had 20 more stitches to go.
Abby smiled so grateful he remembered the most important day of her life, she kissed him softly pushing his hair back "you didn't look nervous to me...you were confident strong and so handsome...it's what I held onto to when you were away...and then you were so soft and loving...when we created this little guy..."

Maria frowned lightly when she heard of the girl's problem and she winced, her heart aching for the girl. To be pregnant with a life you didn't want... and to feel as if the only option was to kill it. But she cared for the girl, and it was not her place to make her decisions. "If you're sure that this is what you want..." she promised. "I can make the procedure quick and painless. For both of you."
Jennifer winced when he coughed, and tried to spit the drug back up , but to her relief he finally drank it with a little coaxing, and almost immediately relaxed and fell into a bliss like trance as Habi continued to work. She dried her tears and just held his head, guarding him and apologizing for drugging him, and for getting him hurt as he was finished getting stitched up, and then bandaged. Nearly his whole head had to be bandaged to cover up the stitching across his face. But there was room for his mouth, nose, and one eye still.
Reece smiled lightly, feeling a little more confident. "Well I'm glad I came across as confident. That's all that matters, right?" he grinned cheekily and kissed her gently. "I'm glad I was gentle. I'd have to kick my own butt if I wasn't." He wrapped his arms around her just as the maid came in carrying lunch. Blushing, he smiled lightly at her in thanks as she set down the tray heaped with sandwiches and a little dish of soup, and two glasses of milk, before scurrying out again.

Brooklyn pat his cheek playfully "don't be jealous it's unbecoming, I'm only yours...ok? Now...let's head to the clinic to make sure that everything is set up and ready." She grabbed her coat and tugged him to a hug "just need you to support me...and I'm having ridiculous fears of you leaving me..." She admitted rubbing her eyes and drying tears that started to brim. She was so hormonal and it drove her insane because this wasn't who she was.
Ariella closed her eyes considering all options and nodded "yes I'm sure...it would be worse to birth a consequence of something so horrific...I don't want any reminders Maria. I want to forget and be with Ven...it's not fair to him either..."
Mani woke up sometime later and was a little panicked at being completely wrapped up, it was claustrophobic and he fumbled for his love's hand and squeezed shaking as he tried to relax "Jennifer...are you here...are you here..." He kept saying that trying to remember what was going on as he only saw the top of the tent. He could hear different voices but it was unnerving not being able to see anyone "flint...father?..."
Abby smiled and fed him some sandwich "yum yum...so delicious!" She dipped the sandwich into the soup happily to eat and rubbed her stomach "feel honey? He's kicking me..." She said in awe and massaged her belly "so incredible...did the maid bring in the fabric?"

Matthew's grin turned sheepish and he nodded quickly. "You're right, my love. As usual." He smiled, pecking her cheek as they got into a cab and were driven to the old mansion. "We do have tables somewhere in here that could be used for an exam bench, right?" he asked, searching for somewhere to set up for her examination. He didn't want to freak her out or anything. If it was more comfortable, he was totally alright with setting up even the couch for her. "Do you know where we'll be doing this?" then he looked at her, concern in his eyes. It was clear she was hormonal, but to be worried about him leaving? "Oh love... I'm not going anywhere." he promised, kissing her nose, and then her lips. "I promise."
Maria nodded, knowing that the girl would not be swayed. She just wanted to make sure she would not regret this later. "I can perform it right now, if you wish, or I can perform it later, whenever is most convenient for you." She promised, showing her a small pill shaped object. "I just insert this, and the baby will come out on it's own. It is still in the early stages, not even showing yet, so there should just be a fair amount of bleeding, some contractions, and the after birth." She assured, hoping it soothed her to know there would be no actual child sliding out.
Jennifer stayed with Mani the entire time he was out, worried for him. She had dozed off beside him, but when he started to stir, she immediately woke, squeezing his hand. "I'm here." She promised, kissing his knuckles and moving to the side of his head so he could see her a little better instead of craning his neck to look above him. "Your father is just over there, talking with mine about what happened. You'll be alright. He said you'd be just fine. A little scarred, but you'll get better." She vowed, kissing his bandages. "I'm sorry, for everything that's happened..."
Reece snagged a few of the sandwich slices, trying some of them dry, and some of them dipped in the soup. He decided both ways were good, and ended up alternating each bite dipped or not. "Yes, pretty good." he agreed, reaching over to rest his hand on her stomach. When he felt their son, his breath caught and he closed his eyes. "Wow...." he breathed, shaking his head slowly. "I think the maid left it by the door... but wow... our son... just wow..."

Brooklyn looked around the place, they had done a lot of work on the place. The dust and cobwebs gone new lighting and curtains up. She nodded as she went to the exam table she stole from the medical school..,it was in storage no one would miss it. She pulled out the attachments that were like small slings that would hold the legs "this'll be fine...a couch wouldn't be good for Micheal he needs full access and I'll be fine..." She assured and hugged him tightly just needing this comfort as she heard the door bell go off "that will be him..." She gave the room one last look before heading downstairs to answer the door.
Ariella was soothed that it would be so simple and that she wouldn't have to see the baby because she was still fighting morally over this but nothing would dissuade her she wanted to be free of him and it wasn't a baby yet just a tiny cell. She examined the pill and nodded "I want it right now..." She insisted and nodded to convince herself "just tell me what to do."
Mani squeezed her hand and sighed in relief as he finally saw her, she didn't seem scared and that brought him relief. She needed rest though...she was hurt too and it was selfish of him to want her by him and not resting "did he take care of your back...you need to get some rest Jennifer...my poor angel..." He caressed her perfect smooth cheek feeling pain that he would never be the Manibshe remembered "my face..."
Abby cleared her throat trying to stop the emotional bond already developing "can you please get it for me?...I need to get it made quickly...first announcement to the public you know...Donovan is thrilled about it..."

Matthew surveyed the space with a careful eye, as if making sure it passed his requirements for an examination room, before nodding resolutely. "I'll be here the entire time." he promised, kissing her hand before he let her run off to answer the door. Michael was standing there with his bag of things, and he immediately embraced Brooklyn, beaming. "It's good to see you. You look lovely." he complimented. "Pregnancy has been treating you well?" he asked as they entered the house and he looked around, taking in the vast space and old walls.
Maria nodded, going to her jars of herbs and supplies and gathered what she would need to clean up after and prepare. "You can lie down on the furs now then." She offered, laying out thick canvas to soak up the blood. "Just breathe deep, ok? It will be uncomfortable for a while, and your stomach will cramp, and then it will all be over. Kind of getting your time of the month, but much faster and stronger." She explained. She helped her lay back, getting the pill ready. "Are you ready?" she asked.
Jennifer found it sweet how worried he was immediately about her, when he was the one who had been lying there screaming only hours before. She squeezed his hand reassuringly. She could not lie and say that the lashes in her back did not hurt, but there were not many, and they didn't hurt that badly. "I'm alright, Mani. I chose to stay here by your side, and this is where I'll stay." She insisted, running a thumb over the bit of skin on his jaw that wasn't bandaged. "I loved you before your wounds, and I love you now, Amanildon." She kissed his lips gently and smiled. "You save my life, you know that? I'm so sorry for... for all that happened. The wound, the stitching... drugging you. I'm sorry."
Reece nodded, chewing on his bottom lip as he stood and went to grab the fabric from the dresser by the door. This was why he couldn't get attached to his child. This... this was why. He gripped it, bringing it back over and dropping it beside her, before sitting on the bed again. "I'm sure he is." he said softly, feeling badly for the man in a way... thinking his wife was pregnant.

Matthew surveyed the space with a careful eye, as if making sure it passed his requirements for an examination room, before nodding resolutely. "I'll be here the entire time." he promised, kissing her hand before he let her run off to answer the door. He gripped it, bringing it back over and dropping it beside her, before sitting on the bed again. "I'm sure he is." he said softly, feeling badly for the man in a way... thinking his wife was pregnant.

Brooklyn hugged her friend kissing both cheeks "and you look dashing per usual, this is my fiancé Mathhew..." She said making sure the men were properly introduced since they heard so much about eachother. "Pardon the mess we are still trying to get the clinic pulled together...but the exam room is just in there and if you need anything just ask." She insisted wanting to be a good hostess even though she was nervous "how is Alexander? Are you two still doing alright?"
Maria laid down on the furs and took deep breaths as she centered herself and nodded looking at Maria through her legs. She wished Ven was here but it was highly inappropriate and they were not married as of yet "how's Nym doing?" Small talk would ease some of the panic and awkwardness of it as she felt her underclothing be removed feeling the open air and flushing bright red.
Mani sighed in relief glad she wasn't suffering as well, he kissed her lips softly cupping her face and smiling "you never use my full name...I like it..." He admitted though he wasn't fond of his full name when she said it...it did something to him that he couldn't describe. Oh how he wished he could show her how he was feeling but his body was still numb from the drugs and she didn't seem like she would be alright with it "I wished I was drugged beforehand..." He teased and catessed her cheek "but I'm fine...I don't feel much pain, just anxiety and vanity...I had a nice face..." He said quietly not wanting to complain about petty things like appearance.
Abby threaded the needle and began a running stitch to begin the cushion "I would be upset if I was lied to but Ella...thinks it'll be best if he doesn't know...I couldn't keep it a secret from you though..."

Matthew had walked down the steps and stood beside Brooklyn, resisting the urge to wrap his arm around her waist and pull her close. But he smiled cordially at the man and held out a hand, nodding in acknowledgment as Michael shook it and entered the house. "I think I brought everything I'm going to need." he said, patting his bag as he surveyed their exam room. It was well set up. "Alex had to move... so we broke it off because long distance wasn't going to work. But I still call him up sometimes." He shrugged, starting to pull out his tools. "I've been so busy thought with work, I'm not even sure I could have kept up a relationship." He said honestly.
Maria was very gentle with Aria, as she knew she was so nervous. When she asked about Nym, Maria smiled brightly. "Wonderful. Already learning to loom knit, if you can believe it, and she's only four. But she's such a smart little girl." She shook her head. "All done. You'll feel some cramps here soon." She warned, moving to sit beside her and rub her hand. "I'm so happy that horrid elder was taken care of. I can't even fathom how all you girls lived in fear so long." She admitted, shaking her head. "It's absolutely horrible."
Jeniffer smiled, flushing softly. She shook her head a little. "I didn't know you liked hearing your full name." She admitted, "I'll use it more often then." a strange sort of giddiness rose in her, as if she could feel something in him, for her... some sort of longing. She could see it in his eyes, and it made her nervous and excited all at once. She laughed aloud then, when he said he had a nice face. "No confidence issues at least." She teased, shaking her head. "You had a pretty face then, and you still do. It wasn't chewed off, just scratched up a bit." she reminded. "Besides, a scar will make you look more rugged... like a pirate." She lowered her voice, her smile turning mischievous. "I've always had a thing for pirates." She winked.
Reece nodded slowly, wondering how that would go down. What if Donavon found out? But who was he to be worrying about such things. It was not his life and not his place to judge. If Ella thought it would be better to lie, then that was her decision. "I'm glad you told me." He said honestly, pecking her cheek. "I understand why you are doing what you are doing, and I am just glad I can support you through it." He watched her stitch for a moment, and then shook his head. "I don't understand how you do that..." he said honestly.

Brooklyn avoided looking at the tools as she changed behind the screen into the hospital gown. She smiled at Matthew and sat down her ankles crossed "relationships are hard when you don't get to be with them all the time but I rather liked him...Micheal would you ever consider joining our clinic? You would be such an important addition since I cannot do surgeries anymore." She looked around trying to avoid looking at anything "well doctor are we ready?"
Aria felt the pinch and deeply breathed through it as she smiled thinking about the sweet girl "very smart...I feel that she will be so well in school..." She whimpered as she felt the cramping and closed her eyes trying to breathe through it. She turned on her side rubbing her stomach "I shall never have a child if this is nearly what it's like..." She gripped onto her hand tightly "I heard about Thomas being the new Elder...what a position! So prestigious..."
Mani chuckled softly and kissed her again "I will marry you after I am healed...I love you and it's nearly impossible to be so near and be decent...I like to be a pirate...I know how much you miss the sea..."
Camilla slowly walked to her Flint and smiled "look...I can almost walk properly..." She saw the stress on his face and frowned turning him "flint darling what is it?"
Abby smiled passing him the fabric and needle and showing him how to stitch "just like that...there you go, ah you have it!" She pecked his cheek and started to stuff the cushion "make it round like my stomach...it'll look odd to have lumps!"

Michael smiled, looking up as all his tools were lined up, warmed up, and ready to go. "I'd love to join your staff." he said, clearly honoured to be offered such a position. "Is the pay good?" he asked, keeping up conversation as he turned away so she could pull off her stockings for the exam. He turned back then and smiled encouragingly, squeezing her knee before getting right to work. "I hear your clinic will be quite the place... being set up in such a large house."
"That's the idea." Matthew agreed, his entire body tense as he eyed Michael and watched what he was doing.
Maria nodded, her smile proud, even though she was trying to be modest. She was so very very proud of her little girl. Her very own little girl who was such a brilliant child. She massaged Aria's abdomen to try and ease some of the cramping. "You're doing so well." She encouraged, not denying that having a child was like this, but worse. "Yes, it's quite a prestigious position. I'm just glad he's finally integrated in the colony. I was worried he wouldn't be accepted for a long time there." She said honestly.
Jennifer bloomed bright red and she tucked her chin down against her neck. "I love you too..." She said quietly, shy all of a sudden as he spoke so plainly about how he felt. It made her stomach flutter in excitement and nerves. She smiled wistfully then. "Oh don't worry about me. My home is among the gypsies, even though I sometimes dream of the sea. I left the sea when I was very young. It's just a lovely childhood memory now." She promised, kissing his cheek.
Flint was working diligently with Camilla to try and help her heal and get better, even though it was a painstakingly slow process. "Yes... you're doing so well." he encouraged. Then he chewed his lip, wondering if she knew, if she had already guessed. "I..." He wasn't even sure where his words went whenever he got nervous, but they were just gone.
Reece took the needle and thread carefully, as if he though the needle was intent on poking him any second, and very very slowly he started to stitch. He glanced wide eye at Abby once, clearly happy he was managing, as he kept up a nice even stitch around the edge of the cushion. "I can sew!"

Brooklyn winced trying to breathe deeply "Mmm that's uncomfortable..." She admitted and tried to focus on the ceiling "yeah we want it to be a sanctuary for those who need it...a place to stay warm and stay healthy..." She gasped her eyes shutting as she squeezed his hand tightly and sighing "how's it looking down there? Make you want women less?" She teased and smiled over at Matthew and kissed his hand "be glad you are both men..."
Ariella smiled and sighed feeling the blood soak the sheet, she flushed embarrased and bit her lip "I never saw him as the stranger people did...I always found him so kind and I loved having Jenn as my best friend though I was no Mani...I love Ven...but I'm scared to be commited to him...did you ever get cold feet around Thomas? Like you loved him so much it scared you?"
Mani smiled softly and kissed her fingers "rest by me?...no more thoughts like that...I just feel better with you near by...like when we were kids and you fell out of that tree...I was comforting you member? And I held you just like this...I missed holding you...and now I can."
Camilla turned his cheek and made him look at her "flint what is it?..." She whispered worried about him, they were so close now and she knew when he was upset about something. She kissed him and looked through those long lashes at him. Her heart fluttered she wanted to make sure everyday he was happy as he made her.

Michael nodded along with what she said. "Of course. I'm sure it will do great good for this community. God knows they sorely need a place like you can offer them." He assured, apologizing when she mentioned it was uncomfortable. "I know this isn't the nicest of procedures." he said, standing up and rinsing his tools, putting them away again. "You look very healthy. Carrying a nice healthy baby, a bit on the larger side, but still in the normal range. Doing very well." he smiled at her. "And no, you certainly have not put me off."
Matthew tensed.
"You're not anything abnormal, Brooklyn, if that was what you were insinuating. And goodness, I know I am very thankful that I'm a male." He shook his head, knowing that showing any interest in a female currently would not be a good idea in front of Matthew.
Maria cleaned up the mess the moment it showed itself, wrapping up the towels and wiping Aria down, helping her get into fresh clothes and making sure everything looked normal and healthy. She handed her a glass of warm milk to help her relax and then smiled, a knowing sort of look. "Almost every day." She admitted. "Especially for the first while. Then I came to terms with my feelings, and we accepted each other as we were." She smiled gently, sitting by her.
Jeniffer nodded, not about to deny him that request. She wouldn't deny him anything, and besides, she rather liked that idea too. "Yes... I remember." she said softly as she climbed up beside him and curled into the crook of his arm, being careful to lie on the side that did not have stitching. "Are you sure you're alright? I'm not hurting you?" she asked.
Flint swallowed, his heart pounding. This was not good. How could he tell her? It would be best if she didn't know.... He tugged down his sleeve and shook his head slowly. "I have to go." he whispered softly, the colour drained from his face. How much time did he have after the first spots appeared? He backed away slowly. He needed to stay away from her, away from everyone. He needed to go.

Brooklyn was so relieved when he removed the tools and sat up feeling instantly dizzy and almost fell off the edge of the table if Matthew hadn't caught her "that's good...wonderful news..." She said rubbing her forehead where a headache was starting to brim "no, we'd love to have you and we can't pay much at all...but you'd be doing the community a great service and who knows you may have better cases then the hospital...which you'd be in line to ever do any procedures because of all the large egos and white coats...they forget medicine is actually about the patients." She wished this headache would disappear she could hardly focus.
Ariella smiled as she sat down grateful to be covered and clean "I love him...I know I do, but I want him to see me as me...not the girl he had to save from unfortunate circumstances. He sees me as glass and I do love how protective he is but...I want to start over, I want to fall in love with him and court...like everyone else, Mani and Jen for instance..."
Rachelle was broken as they had buried her father, she placed her hand on her swollen stomach and felt nothing but pain that she couldn't say goodbye that she wasn't there. She sipped her tea the same kind her father made and dried her tears "I knew he was sick...but I just thought...I thought he'd be alive to meet his grandchild...I just never thought he could actually die...he had lived so long..."
Camilla was shocked as he walked away from her, she was pouring out her heart a heart fairly well guarded and protected. She had tried so hard to be open with him and now he was walking away...she hugged her arms around herself and sank on the cot feeling her breath leave her as she softly cried. She was still healing and in pain but he had worked with her, every day never leaving her side...what happened?

A shopkeeper appeared then, a short little woman was dark skin and a million little black ringlets that framed her face. "I love the smell of growing things." she smiled, bowing slightly. "And how might I be of service to the lovely young couple?" she asked politely.
Michael nodded. He assumed as much. He knew they wouldn't be able to pay that much. Especially not as they were just starting out. But it was clearly a good cause, and a clinic was would need a surgeon. "Yeah, I'll help out." he promised, smiling lightly. "It would be my pleasure." he packed up his things again and glanced around the place before looking back to her. "But promise to take it easy until you have the child, alright? And call me if there are any problems." he insisted. "No matter the time of day or night. I'll be available."
Maria nodded, understanding where the girls as coming from, and also what she must be feeling through all of this. It was such a strange circumstance to be in. "Yes, I understand." She assured. "Why don't you suggest doing something normal together? Like having dinner, or weaving, or planting in the garden. Try to do things normal young adults do." she suggested. "It might make it feel more like regular courting, and less like circumstantial love."
Habi had been with Rachelle as much as he could spare, in between watching Mani and making sure he healed, and also taking care of some of the chaos in the camp. But currently he was just sitting there with her, trying to be of some comfort. He knew the loss of her father was hard. "I think that is why he passed on... he was ready to move to another life. He lived in this world for such a long time." he said gently, kissing her temple. "You know he's still here, right? In here?" He asked, pressing a hand over her heart.
Flint hated that look she gave him, of distrust and hurt, and it made him shrivel up inside, his whole being aching. He wanted to be there beside her, wanted to take care of her, but he couldn't. "I'm so sorry Camilla... it's not you. I have to get away... I can't be near anyone." he murmured, ducking his head. He absolutely hated that he had hurt her through this and he swallowed. "I'm sorry." he whispered, resisting the urge to scratch his wrist where the dark purplish bruise had appeared. Without saying anything more, he left the tent and ran, running into the forest, running away. When a clan member knew they were dying and there was nothing they could do to stop it, it was customary for them to leave the clan and die quietly alone so as not to disturb the peace. Kind of like how sick wolves in a pack did.

Brooklyn nodded still trying to fight the headache, she gave a smile and hugged him "thank you for all your help Michael, you know you are one of my dearest friends..." She pecked his cheek and went back into Marthew's arms knowing he was being very brave and controlled around her friend. He was so territorial and at times it bothered her but mostly she felt protected and loved. She tried to walk him out the door but lost her footing and collasped so dizzy. She wasn't unconscious so she slowly sat up not wanting them to fuss over her.
Ariella smiled and nodded "I think that's a wonderful idea...in fact I'll go start making dinner right now. It's a rarity to have a moment with him...An Elder is always needed but...he always makes time for me...I just love him. I would do anything for that man...have you heard much about Mani? I haven't been able to talk to Jennifer."
Rachelle smiled and nodded as she leaned into him closely caressing his cheek "so tired...you need to rest, so many people are in need of your service...but now just rest...know that everything is alright and that your child will be coming..." She played with his hair as he rested on her stomach just wanting to pamper him as he did her everyday.
Camilla caught size of the mark and gasped running after him, well attempting to as she was still weak and hurt but she was not letting him go. "Flint." She wrapped her arms around him refusing to let go "I won't let you...if you die then I die along beside you...you can't leave me..." She said seriously cupping his face and kissing him softly.

The woman nodded, her dark curls bouncing as her eyes lit up. "But of course. I think I have just the thing." She promised, scurrying away among the leave branches and potted plants, returning then with a small bundle of flowers in her hands. They were soft yellow, with the tips of their petals tinged just the slightest pink. Some of them were straight yellow, and others were all pink. And all together it made a beautiful collection. "Do these work?"
Michael was glad that she thought of him just as dearly as he thought of her. "I'm glad to be of service." he said simply, bowing. However, he startled when she collapsed, and Matthew immediately had his arms around her, lifting her up gently again. "Love... are you alright?" he asked, clearly worried.
Michael frowned. "Has she been taking her prenatal vitamins?"
Matthew frowned, stressing further. "What vitamins? Love?"
Maria smiled, happy to see a youth so clearly alive and happy and in love with a man she was pleased to be with. "Yes, that is a good idea." She agreed, standing and cleaning up her tent again. "Apparently Mani is doing well. Healing slowly." She said honestly. "Jennifer has been staying with him." She looked to the fire. "Those two will probably be married soon. I wouldn't be surprised." She said honestly, a small smile lighting up her features. She was happy for those two.
Habi shook his head. He wanted to stay up and care for her. He wanted to be there for her and comfort her. "But you need me. I want to be there for you. I want to hold you and protect you and kiss away this pain." he whispered, not resisting as she let him rest on her stomach. He kissed it and kissed her hand, closing his eyes. "I can't rest... not now..."
Flint spun around, wide eyed when she caught up to him and he shook his head in refusal. "No... Camilla... you have to go!" He shook his head, pulling her arms off him and stepping away. "Please." He begged. "I can't die knowing I killed you too..." he whispered, his voice cracking. "Please... please don't do that to me..." His eyes were misty with tears and he swallowed a hard lump in his throat. This was torture as it was.

Brooklyn nodded at the question "started taking them last week...I'm fine, just have a bloody headache..." She stood trying to steady herself and ran her hand over the small bump. "Just hope that didn't effect the baby...I'm fine nothing but a bruised ego." She assured both of the men close in her life. She knew Michael was going to be the godfather as well as deliver the child, whether Matthew was ok with it or not.
Ariella beamed "now wouldn't that be wonderful? A perfect ending for a traumatic journey...poor man refuses to show his face in public since Nym screamed...don't blame the poor girl it is rather startling." She stood glad to be in clean clothes and hugged this woman the closest thing to her mother "I enjoy our talks...can we have them more often? I want to be more open with everyone...there's no reason to hide anymore.
Rachelle smiled "hush hush...you are protecting me just fine right here...plus this way I can care for you for once...you haven't slept in days worried about Mani and Flint...I read your research...there must be a cure...everything has a counter an antidote..." She said determined and caught her breath as she felt a wave of pain slowly pass by and then was gone as soon as it came.
Camilla was so weak that tossing her arms off of him stumbled her to the ground. She looked away so he didn't see the tears flow down her cheeks "I love you...you'll kill me whether we are near or far...please, you were and are the only thing worth living for...how can you be so cruel to work hours to save me life when you won't fight for your own?" She whispered her body shaking from the shock.
Donavon smiled placing his hand on the fake stomach of his wife's "sleeping again? I swear I can never feel movement..." He kissed her lips tenderly "you still doing alright? I heard you sick last night I thought morning sickness would be over by now? But then again I know nothing of pregnancy..."
Abby whimpered as the corset was tightened more so to hide her now very large stomach. It was painful and she was terrified that it would hurt her son...Ella's son...she sat and embroidered waiting for her sister.

The florist beamed, wrapping a ribbon around the current flowers, and then handing them back to her. "I can have hundreds ready for you in the next week. When do you need them for?" she asked, smiling as April stared down at the roses in her hands. "And keep those as a gift." She said kindly. She found the couple so very sweet.
Matthew wasn't calmed at all by that admission. Headache? From what? Was she alright? Michael looked worried too, and that didn't help his nerves at all. If the doctor was worried... but then again it could just be his very annoying affection for her. "A headache isn't anything to be concerned about, right?" he asked softly, helping Brooklyn up and to a chair where she could sit. "No, I'm afraid it's quite normal. Pregnancy is not the most fun of adventures." he sighed softly. "I hope you feel better soon Brook. Call me again if you need anything."
Maria nodded, happy for Jennifer and Mani. "Yes. It would be wonderful. They certainly deserve it." She shook her head, knowing how hard of a time Mani was having with his recent disfiguring. The poor boy. "It is rather unfortunate though, about his injury." She agreed as she saw Aria to the door of her tent. "And know that you are always welcome here." She promised. "Come by any time you wish, my doors are always open." she smiled then. "Take care, Aria. And good luck with Ven."
Habi sighed, not about to argue. He wanted to, to tell her how much she needed to rest, how he needed to be there for her, but he gave in, relaxing by her and letting out a tired huff. "There is a cure. I know there has to be... and I must find it, before it is too late." he mumbled, rubbing his thumb in little circles over her stomach. "Everyone is counting on me..." he whispered, his face scrunching up in worry. What if he couldn't find a cure? No. He would not accept that. He would find it.
Flint gasped when she stumbled and fell and the tears in his eyes flooded and rolled down his cheek. "Camilla... I'm so sorry. Already I am hurting you..." he helped lift her up, even though already his muscles were losing strength, and he had a hard time doing even that. "It will hurt, Milla, losing me... but you'll go on living, I promise." he whispered, his voice choked as he planted a kiss on her cheek and gently guided her back to camp. "You must. For me. I am dying, and can do nothing about that." A brief flash of fear crossed his features and then it was gone, along with everything else as he lost consciousness and collapsed to the ground.
Ella was so nervous she was sure he would hear her heart thudding against her ribcage as he rubbed her large pillow and asked about her being sick. This was bad, this was very bad. She never thought that something she wanted so badly could turn out so poorly... She swallowed, nodding as she stood. "Yes... I'm alright. I'm late to go visit my sister. Stay here, alright? I have something important to tell you when I get back." She insisted, biting her lip and leaving the bedroom quickly, running to her sister's. "Abby... oh Abby..." She lay on the bed beside her, hiding her face in the bunched up sheets. "I am in such a horrible place right now... I'm pregnant, Abby. Actually pregnant... and I don't know what to say to Donavon, or the country... everyone will know I lied... everyone...." She swallowed down a sob.

Brooklyn nodded and gave a smile "both of you relax...I'm fine, I'm with child this is common. I will get some rest but it's not going to slow me down. I'll call you if things get worse but I'm fine...and I really need you two to get along through this or stress is going to hurt me and the baby...and I don't want that...I love you both for different reasons and in different ways, please be ok with that."
Aria winked and nodded as she went to find her love, she found him in his new tent meditating and smiled "hey handsome...do you have time for some dinner?...ill make it, I just want to celebrate...our first date." She smiled running her hand down his jaw "can you let me?" She whispered so wanting to kiss him but like Maria said she needed to take this slowly.
Rachelle heard the screams of Camilla and pulled him up running to the boy. She got him into the tent and undressing him "oh hell...no..." She whispered seeing the bruises, but this is what they had been testing and trying to find the cure. She would make the cute and Habi would administer it, now she was alone as she injected him with the most recent cure. "Come on Flint..." She wrapped him up in heated sheets trying to get his temperature up.
Mani heard about Flint and was debating leaving the tent so he could see his friend, help him. He swallowed touching his scar and quickly cloaked himself covering his face so Nym and the other children and people wouldnt be afraid. He went into the tent staying in the shadows "come on flint..."
Abby watched her sister in shock "how far along...if it's just a few months then you keep the stomach for awhile until your own grows and you have the child...you say you misdiagnosed how old the child was...the kingdom will believe anything...but Donavon...he needs to know the truth. He needs to be your support...does that mean...I can keep my son?..."

Mathew felt a huge amount of pride in his girl when she said this wasn't going to bring her down, and he finally managed a smile. However, both men turned and stared at her when she insisted that they get along, and accept how she felt for them. Michael was the first to nod, a shy smile lighting his features. "I'm alright with that." He agreed, glancing at Matthew. "Truce?"
Matthew managed a smile then, not being able to hold it back. "Yeah." he shook his hand. "For my gutsy girlfriend." He shook his head. "Truce."
Ven kept his eyes closed, but when he heard his love, a smile cracked across his features and he stood, opening his eyes and looking at her then. "Hey lovely." he whispered, kissing her cheek and slipping his hand around hers. "Dinner would be lovely." he agreed, and his smile grew wider. "And I do like the sound of 'date'." he grinned, walking into the living area of his tent. "Is this a real official date? Our first?"
Flint was unconscious, and his skin was feverish and beaded in sweat. He twitched when he was injected, and a a few moments of nothing passed. And then a frown creased his features and he started trembling. His body was pale except in the dark areas where the bruises were, and already acid had damaged much of his muscles. But his chest was pulling in jerky breaths, his heart was beating. He was alive. Alive and fighting. And then he worked up some strength and moaned.
Ella lifted her head, swallowing. Her makeup was smudged from crying, but she couldn't care less, not around her sister, her family, who she trusted. "I can't be more than two months. I thought I might just be pretending too well... but then I saw a doctor... and I knew it was real... and I was so happy... and so frightened... Donavon... he's going to be so mad... I... I can't do this..." She shook her head, tears falling again. "You can keep your baby... but I... I don't know what to do."

Brooklyn sighed in relief and rubbed her stomach "baby relaxed...thank you, that makes me feel so much better. We'll walk you out because I think it's time for us to head home...we'll do more cleaning tomorrow. Maybe get some paint and paint the patient's rooms. We'll need you to grab as much equipment and beds as you can...from the storage room."
Aria smiled and nodded "our first official date" she was baking the bread and was cooking the elk meet from the elk he brought in and smiled "good thing Mani's elk isn't here...he is such a funny creature almost like a dog!" She kissed him softly and served then some fresh fruit and cheese. "Feast good enough for us?" She smiled and cuddled next to him.
Camilla sighed in relief and went to him cupping his face "you are healing Flint....you aren't going to die..." She promised and kissed him "I was so scared, please come back to me...please..." Mani watched from the shadows and swallowed looking at Jen and taking her hand "I want to go to the waterfalls..."
Donavon stepped from the room swallowing "I...I don't understand Ella...you lied to me?...but how, why?" He was in shock and it hurt his heart that she dismayed him and was going to continue to do so.

Michael and Matthew both smiled as all three walked out of the old mansion and Matthew locked it behind them. "New paint sounds like a very good idea." He agreed.
Michael nodded. "And I'll grab as many supplies as I can." He vowed. "I think I can probably get some beds for sure... maybe some stethoscopes, thermometers and the like as well. I'll let you know what I find in storage." He vowed as he headed to his buggy. "I'm serious though, call me if you need anything."
Ven beamed, liking that title a lot. Their first official date. And man was it already starting to smell good. His stomach rumbled as he watched in curiosity as she rolled and baked the bred, the elk meat sizzling and giving off a wonderful smell. "Yeah no kidding. It would be rather weird eating in front of that creature." he agreed, crossing his legs and sitting by the food as she served them both. It certainly looked like quite the feast. "Well I'm not going to be going hungry tonight." He grinned, kissing her cheek. "Thank you."
Flint wasn't very conscious. He was flitting in and out of awareness... each time only brief flashes of pain. It felt like death. He was weak and shaky all over though. Shouldn't death just be nothing? "Camilla..." he whispered, his brow scrunching up in pain. His hand searched for her.
Jen had wrapped her arms around him from behind, knowing how all this must be stressful for him... his friend, and lying there all bruised in the hot sheets. She tried not to look, as he wasn't very clothed, but it was hard not to stare at the dark bruises. And the sick thing was, was that she knew that was how others must stare at her love's face. "Sure." she agreed softly, leaving with him. It saddened her, to see how he always wore a hood now, hiding.
Ella sat up slowly and her face scrunched in pain. So he knew. He had heard. She stood, walking with him into the hallway, and then back into their room, so the servants would not overhear and spread gossip. She stood back, her eyes on her hands, nervously fidgeting. "I... I thought I couldn't... couldn't conceive.... I thought..." she shook her head, a million different excuses in her head, but none of them coming out of her mouth. "I'm sorry." She whispered, knowing that wasn't ever going to be enough, but she had to say sorry. The fake stomach seemed so stupid now, like it was burning her skin, and she wanted to wrench it off.

Brooklyn nodded and smiled waving as she hugged Matthew "love...I need you to carry me because I can hardly walk...I'm just so dizzy...and you know I don't ask for much." She held around his neck as he lifted her up "I'm glad you and Michael are ok now..."
Ariella smiled and nodded "eat up while it's still warm...Maria took care of...the fetus, that's where I was all day...it went fine and she said it wasn't large enough to be a baby yet...so that's a relief..." She took his hand smiling "I want to court, be normal and fall in love like we are supposed to...would you allow that?" She brushed his hair back loving how long it was. Her handsome man.
Camilla took his hand pressing it to her face "I'm here...I'm right here...focus on my voice you are going to be fine..." She watched the bruises slowly fade and tears filled her eyes in gratitude that he would live. "I love you so much..."
Mani flinched as people turned trying to see what was under the hood, morbid curiosity. He understood but it didn't make it any easier for him. He led his love to the waterfall and removed his hood being completely exposed "Jennifer...only the sweetest most caring heart can love a face like this...I knew that about you when we first met those many years ago. I also know you are the strongest, bravest and adorably stubborn woman...you are beautiful and graceful...everything I desire in a wife and as my best friend." He got on one knee showing her the ring "would you do me the honor...of becoming my wife for always and eternity?"
Donavon was in shock as he paced, he was hurt and angry and just in shock he removed his hearing aide and sank to the bed covering his face and sobbing as he let it all out being completely vulnerable "why...coukdnt you just tell me? I care not if you are barren or with child as long as you are happy and you confide in me...what child were you expecting to show me once your alloted time was up? Or would it have been a tragic miscarriage?"

Matthew nodded immediately and swooped her off her feet and into his arms. She was heavier when with child, but it wasn't a weight that he couldn't manage, as he carried her back to their buggy and got her situated, before driving home. "Whatever you need love." he promised, smiling sheepishly then. "Michael's not a bad man, and that is what bothers me. But I can accept that you think of us differently." he promised.
Ven didn't argue about that as he immediately started on his meal which she had set out for him. "This is delicious." he said immediately, the bread practically melting in his mouth, and his stomach growled in agreement. He nodded slowly when she told him about the baby, and he didn't say anything to that. He wasn't sure what to say. The whole situation had been horrible. But then she asked about courting like normal people and he thought for a moment. Wasn't that what people in love did anyways? "Of course I'm alright with that." he promised, squeezing her hand. "It's a good idea."
Flint stayed drifting in and out of nightmares for another few hours before he finally stirred and opened his eyes, staring at the ceiling of the tent. He was still alive. Albeit, weak and achey, but alive. And not wearing much though. "Hello?" he asked, nervous and feeling alone. What had happened? Why could he not lift his head? Why did it feel like he had just run a triathlon?
Jennifer followed him through the camp, shooting dirty looks at anyone who dared get close with too curious a gaze. When they reached the waterfall and he pulled off his hood, a smile broke across her features. His face was beautiful to her, and his eyes never ceased to be able to pierce through her soul. But when he bent and started saying such beautiful things, her breath hitched and her eyes widened. Her brain connected the dots and then she was nodding eagerly, dropping to wrap her arms around him. "Yes, yes of course!" she said, tucking her face against his neck. "I love you always."
Ella watched him take out his hearing aid, and knew he had done that to shut her out, so he could be alone with his thoughts, and she swallowed, looking down as her heart shrivelled over and over, listening to her husband in pain. She didn't think he had ever cried quite so much, and she knew she had been the cause of that pain... just because she couldn't confide in him in this one small thing. "It would have been Abby's child." She said meekly, even though she knew he couldn't hear her. She stood, risking looking at him then. She knew he could still lip read, and she begged silently that he would see this. "I'm sorry." She whispered again. "Please forgive me?" She asked, knowing she didn't deserve it. She wanted to hug him, but she knew she would probably be turned away, and goodness she didn't deserve any hugs right now.

Ariella ate pleased he said nothing of the child and took his hand "how is it like being an Elder? You look so dashing and regal in your robes...are they working you hard? Do you need some rest? I'm sure Thomas would manage without you for a night..."
Camilla bent down and brushed his hair off of his face and caressed his cheek grateful to see some color in it again "I'm right here..." She promised and covered him up more with the sheet "how are you feeling? Can I get you some broth? Or some warm cider?" She had been at his side day after day, night after lonely night praying that Ira would heal and save him.
Mani sighed in relief and held her close running her long beautiful dark locks through his fingers "I've never stopped loving you..." He promised and pulled back to slip the raw diamond ring on her finger and kissing her palm "I don't want a large ceremony...just something private for us...people...are not going to ruin our happiness. My face will not be a distraction..."
Donavon watched her lips and swallowed as he took her hand shakily and pressed it to his lips. He didn't know if he could forget and forgive this but she was his wife and he vowed to always love and take care of her "we'll say you had a miscarriage...then by miracles you and I conceived another...no one will know of your lie..." He slipped his aide back in and pulled her to his arms and just held her "you can never lie to me again..."

Ven shrugged after a moment. "I don't know... it's been interesting so far. I enjoy the work, Thomas is fair, and I've been excelling at my duties so far. But it hasn't been very stressful yet either, and I haven't been given much reason to dislike it." he shrugged. "Thank you for worrying about me, but honestly I'm doing alright so far." He assured. "I'm sure if I asked for a night off, Thomas would give it to me."
Flint relaxed slightly when he saw Camilla. So she was alive, and alright. That was good. He closed his eyes, taking a deep breath and letting it out again. "What happened? Where am I? Why do I feel so weak?" he asked, a little panicked about his condition. What on earth had gone on since he last remembered being awake? "Some... some broth sounds good..." he said softly, coughing and then closing his eyes again.
Jennifer looked down at her finger as he slid that gorgeous band around her finger... a promise, and she nearly broke out crying just then and there from overwhelming emotions. "A small ceremony sounds lovely." She promised, pulling back so she could cup his face in both of her hands. She looked at him carefully and then shook her head. "Your face is the most beautiful distraction I know." She promised, kissing his forehead where the scar started, and then kissing his cheek where it ended. "I could get lost in your eyes, and God only knows what that does to me. Don't ever think down about yourself, ok?"
Ella nearly flinched when he reached out and took her hand, expecting him to yell at her, to be mad. She almost wanted him to be. She could deal with that. She deserved that. But the fact that he was being the stronger person, still being gentle with her and thinking logically almost killed her with guilt, and she sat stiffly in his arms, her tears close to falling. "I promise." she whispered, even though she knew those words had no meaning because now she was a liar. She nodded again, though, and stared at the wall, trying to keep away the tears.

Ariella played with his hair "can you ask now?...I want the night with you...no interruptions." She whispered in his ear and smiled almost deviously as she took his hand and kissed him before getting the desert for them "I stole some cocoa beans...so enjoy!" She teased and cleaned up the dinner makings.
Camilla got the pot from the fire and filled up the clay bowl as she fed him some broth "you got sick...the plague...Rachelle came up with a cure it saved your life...you still need to rest and heal but you'll be ok..." She dried the tears coming down her cheeks "I've never been so scared Flint...I thought I was going to lose you..." She kissed his head smoothing his hair "Mani and Ven have been worried too...but I've been a little territorial..."
Mani swallowed and nodded "I try not to...but I frighten people Jen and nothing you say can change that...I still see you flinching sometimes when you think I can't see it...I'm grateful for my father...but I don't appreciate being the freak of camp...but I'll try to be more forgiving and open..." He handed her the hood and took deep breaths looping her arm with his and walking to the camp to the center platform "I have asked this incredible woman to be my wife...and she said yes..." He told the camp trying to be strong.
Donavon rubbed her arm and removed the pillow and smiled as he actually felt the baby "I feel it...our child..." He said in awe and kissed her cheek. "I'll let the public know about the miscarriage and you can have some privacy and rest..." He kissed her again and let the public know, they mourned for the child and hoped an heir would come.
Abby was uncomfortable turning to her side and losing breath every few minutes. She felt dizzy and exhausted her body hardly handling the pregnancy "I need...I need...Ella..." She told the maid quietly.

Ven chuckled, shaking his head at her bold speak. But it was allowed, and he was sorely tempted. "I just might." He glanced up at her over his drink and raised one eyebrow. "But are you sure? Cause even though I'm a dude and that sounds awesome... I also don't want to rush you in anything." He insisted, munching on the dessert. "And this is totally good too, by the way. I don't know how you made it..."
Flint listened to her in between trying to swallow the hot broth. It was awkward, to say the least, to need to be fed, but it was a necessity, what with his limbs currently so weak and out of commission. Still, it was a humbling experience to have to lay there like an invalid as she fed him broth. "Thank you." He said softly. "For... for staying with me... and..." He glanced up at her, his forehead wrinkled. "I'm sorry for scaring you. I didn't want... didn't want any of this..." He swallowed, wishing he hadn't gotten sick.
Jennifer swallowing, knowing it was true, but hating that it was. It was unfair that such a beautiful man could turn into something that was so feared just over an injury, an injury he got saving her skin. She flushed, so very proud of him as he strolled into camp and announced their engagement. It meant so much to her that he was doing something he feared and didn't like, for her sake. She leaned up and kissed her cheek as Maria started clapping, a huge smile on her face. More women joined in, and then the camp was clapping for them, calling out their congratulations. None of the children came close, but it was easy to see that everyone was happy for them. Jen smiled, tears in her eyes as she hugged him.
Ella watched as Donavon removed the pillow and felt her stomach. She smiled shyly, seeing his face light up again when he felt the baby, and part of her started to feel a little bit better. Maybe he could forgive her in time. Maybe it would be alright again. She nodded, watching Donavon go off to make the announcement, as the maid came in telling her that her sister needed her. She frowned, getting up and immediately going to her. She gasped, rushing to her side and took up her hand in her own. "Abby... what's wrong?" she asked, worried.

There was a little dance at the boarding school, Gracie bit her lip standing in the back near the cloak room she was shy and really didn't catch any guy's attention. She bumped into Joshua also hiding in the cloak room and gasped "I'm sorry I thought it was empty!" She bit her lip quickly backing out hiding her flush and fanning herself with her book that she was reading.
Ariella flushed bright red "Ven...I was insinuating at all...oh gosh." She hid her red face "I meant a night just for us...swimming, laying on the cliffs looking at the stars...I'm not ready at all for...that." She ran a hand through her hair and distracted herself around the tent so embarrased he thought that was what she was talking about.
Camilla had him sip the broth and kissed his head "hush my love...you are fine, just rest..." She whispered and nuzzled him "I'm fine...just need you to get better." She took his hand in hers "can you squeeze my hand?" She had to know how his strength was coming and if he could do normal functions ever again. It was a fear that Habi admitted coukd happen.
Mani had tears in his eyes as they were actually supporting him and rooting on their love. He smiled and kissed her lovingly "thank you..." He said honestly and helped her back down going to their tent. He smiled running a hand over his scar "I think it's time for the stitches to come out...they are healed by now."
Abby gasped in pain "the baby...please get Freddie..." She was so weak, she needed to see Reece before to let him know she loved him because she knew she wasn't going to make it through this. "Reece..." She said stroking his face as the maid brought him in "I love you...please take care of our son..."

Joshua had been looking for an escape, as the whole school thing was wonderful, but it could get overwhelming, with so much new, and a lot more freedom. He didn't have his bother there to help give advice. He had been watching the dance from the cloak room when a pretty girl suddenly bumped into him and he blushed beet red, at being caught in his hiding spot. "No.. no it's alright... I... there's lot's of room..." He stammered, blushing harder. Then he caught sight of her book and his eyes brightened. "Is that Swiss Family Robinson?" He gasped, "I love that book!"
Ven felt his stomach plummet and he closed his eyes in a grimace, wishing to rewind everything that had just happened and take it all back. "Me and my stupid mouth." he groaned, rubbing a hand over his forehead. "I'm sorry, Aria, I'm really sorry... and I'm really glad I asked, at least... oh gosh." he shook his head, standing and helping clearing the dessert plates. "I... I'm sorry." he knew he had all but ruined the mood, and figured she might want a little time away from him. He sure hoped he hadn't scared her off though. "I guess I should... go back... to my tent..." He swallowed.
Flint couldn't help the admiration and thankfulness that flowed through him, and he didn't make another noise of protest as he drank the rest of the broth with her help and then just tried to relax, at least feeling a little better with some food in him. When she asked if he could squeeze her hand, he focused on his fingers which were wrapped up in her own soft ones, and then focused on those trembling muscles. After a moment, they seemed to remember what they were supposed to do, and his fingers twitched closed. Another second, and he managed to weakly squeeze her hand, but his brow was knitted in concentration with the effort.
April was beaming, all the way back to the tent. This tent would be theirs until they were married, where they would then take the tent they would occupy the rest of their lives. Her heart fluttered. She glanced over at Mani, her eyes running down his face. "You're right, I think it's probably time." She agreed. "Do you prefer your father or I to do it?" she asked, as Habi had shown her how, in case Mani wished for her to remove them.
Fear suddenly clouded Ella's features and she shook her head, not wanting to believe it. After nearly losing her little sister twice, she had to go through the pain of watching her get close to death again... God forbid it wouldn't be any closer. "No... Abby... stay strong...hang in there..." She pleaded as she raced to fetch Freddie and bring him back.
Reece looked just as stricken when he realized what was happening. She was his link to his memories, his sanity. She was his future, and it was slipping away before his very eyes. He clutched her hands in his. "We'll care for him together, I swear. You'll watch him grow up... just like you wanted." he choked, his eyes filling with tears.
Flint closed his eyes, letting her explore his face. As long as she would be resting... as long as she would go to sleep and get better, he would do anything for her. He blushed again, opening his eyes to look at her. Change her dressings? He glanced down at the bandages around her wounds, and noticed how some of them were already seeping through. Of course they needed to be changed. He could do that. He knew how. "If you would like me to, I am more than happy to assist." he promise, bowing slightly as he smiled at her. "I am yours to command, my lady."
Jennifer didn't resist as Mani pulled her onto his lap. She just lay back against him and shifted a bit so she was comfortable before closing her eyes. Just being held by him was nice enough, but then he started to sing and the world seemed to become a better place. she forgot about her pain, she felt better about her worries as they were washed away and she visibly relaxed, the tension releasing from her shoulders. A small smile formed on her features and she snugged closer to Mani, "Have I ever told you what a lovely voice you have?" She asked softly, curling her hand around a bit of his shirt.
Ven didn't know why, but a huge part of him felt relief when she asked if he'd come along, and he immediately nodded, clearly relieved that she had asked. He hadn't wanted her to go, even though he knew it was not his place to ask her to stay. Still. He knew it would have meant that he never would see her again. He smiled lightly, flustered by her words and touch. "Thank you for your confidence in me... and I'd love to come along..." he swallowed. "But our friends... and everyone else... will they be alright while we are gone?" he asked, nervous about leaving the only home he had ever known.
Reece waited in tension to hear what her response would be, but when she threw herself around him and said she never stopped loving him, he smiled and hugged her back, glad they could start again and move forward. At least... for the most part. They had a child. Or were having a child... and they were going to give it away. He stared at her for a moment, his eyes moving down her her stomach, and then back up to her face. "If this is the decision you have made, then I will respect it." he said softly, kissing her forehead. A smile appeared then. "Our son will be king."
