Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments April looked around at the cute little place, not missing that it wasn't high class or anything. But something about it was charming in it's own way. She sat down at the barrel with him, folding her hands in her lap politely and looking around at the small but interesting place. "I look forward to the sunset then." She said kindly. "Though it is a rather cute place in its own right." She added, taking in the little candle on the table. She was shy, and not quite sure what to say. Usually men just made advances on her, and she smiled and went along with it. She wasn't used to actually having a good conversation with the male species.

Maria could see the anger in his face, and she was sad that he had been targeted like that, and that her family wasn't accepting him. But she was more sad that he thought he had to leave for her sake. "And what of Jenn?" She asked, her voice cracking. She knew better than to question him, but that didn't mean that she liked that he was leaving. For months! Months at a time? That was horrible news to her.
Jenn's smile was huge as she danced around on her toes, clearly excited. "Oh why can't my birthday be here right this minute?" She asked. His question made her grow more serious and she hugged her arms. "They still say mean things." she said honestly. "But I ignore them. Or kick them." She promised. She didn't run and cry anymore.

Reece's smile was genuine as he nodded. "I'd enjoy that." he told her, squeezing her hand and leaning his head back as she talked about herself. He felt himself cringe when she talked about her accident and he shook his head slowly. "Must be hard… living a life away from the world like that." he commented softly. "If that flower in your room ever withers, I'll bring you another, I promise." He vowed. "And another, and another, so long as you always have a little bit of sunshine with you."

Joyella went searching for her mother, flopping into her arms, the tears coming. "Ren hates me!" She cried, clearly being over dramatic. "I hate that we're betrothed!" Only hours before hand, she had expressed how happy she was to be betrothed to him. "What were you and Dad ever thinking? He kissed me and I was surprised and asked to come back here because I needed time to think, and that must have hurt him because he called me 'your majesty' and left! And he's just gone, just like that! No explanations or apologies!" She sobbed all in one breath.

Ella nodded, some of her a little sad that she was losing her sister to someone else. But mostly she was just thrilled for her, and glad she would have a friend to talk to. "The thing is…" She said wistfully. "Is that my parents won't mind at all, so long as he can provide for her, for now that I'm married to you, their expectations for their family are fulfilled. Abby has no responsibilities what so ever…"

McKensie (that-one-girl) | 5564 comments Topher was a nervous wreck worrying about how'd she react and whether she would appreciate the simple beauty. She was rich afterall and this was a big step down. He cleared his throat giving a nervous smile "so um when did you start your career of dance?" He had to try and make conversation obviously they were both shy and nervous around eachother. He smiled as the sun went down and drenched the skies in reds and pinks. He loved this spot, it was a piece of heaven in his opinion and every night was something new.

Thomas held her close and kissed her softly "I don't want to leave Maria...I dont...I love you and I want to get married and grow old together here...but I will never be accepted here...and I don't want something like this to happen again. I worry everyday and hearing you were poisoned instead of me...kills me..."
Mani smiled "it's tomorrow yes? I heard that your aunt and uncle are coming! It'll be wonderful to meet actual pirates! Ive never met anyone outside of the clan." He tickled her and smiled "tough little Jenn, I wouldn't mess with you!" He said giggling and pinned her down "I missed you!"

Abby smiled feeling her cheeks flush "I love that...thank you, I will be with you everyday whether in this tower or the garden I appreciate being with you so much...what is your sister's name? My doctor just got married to a pretty new girl he saved her life by a risky surgery! And then they fell in love and got married!"

Lydia blinked surprised and pet her hair "Joyella angel...im sure he doesn't hate you! Im sure he was just as confused and scared about your kiss...this is normal. New love is awkward and timid at first it's not always love at first sight...he was trying to be respectful thinking that he offended you." The maid came in with the Rose "from Prince Renold princess."

Donavon smiled "I do worry...what if he can't afford the best doctors for her condition, and what about children? She'll be too weak to bear children..." He worried about her like his own sister.

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments April smiled lightly, glad to have something to talk about, when he asked about dance. "My mother was actually a dancer as well." She said softly. "The best in France… she moved here with father when…" soft pink colours on the floor boards caught her attention and she followed the stream of light to the window, where the sunset was shining in all its glory. She knew right then, that she would never ever see something more beautiful. "Oh…" she breathed, clearly in awe. "I've never… I've never seen something so wonderful…" She could feel hot tears prickling at her eyes and she shook her head, flushing.

Maria nodded slowly, but she couldn't meet his gaze. she knew if she did she'd start crying, and Maria hated tears. She hated appearing weak. So she lay her head on his chest instead, curling up in his arms. "They'll come around… they'll accept you, I know it. Already with Habi and Jenn and Mani, everyone is opening up to the idea more…" she whispered. "The poisoning was a while ago. I think we are ok now…." She said, desperately hoping.
Jenn nodded eagerly. "It is tomorrow! And I can't wait to see my aunt uncle and cousin!" She said honestly. "They'll love you guys… they knew my birth mother, and they were good friends with her." She said honestly, giggling as he tickled her and pinned her back. "Good thing too!" She insisted, trying to look tough, but she dissolved into giggling again. "Missed you to, Mani. I missed you a lot… you're my only friend." She whispered.

Reece smiled, closing his eyes as he leaned his head back. "How very poetic, duchess." he commented, his smile growing across his lips. "Sounds like your doctor and his girl found true love… how very sweet." he said, his tone sincere. "My sister's name is Belle. Cliche, I know, but my mother was in love with the name Belle, so father went along with it." he explained. "As far as I know, she's happy with her husband. I don't see her much anymore though, what with me and her both working different places."

Joyella sniffled, trying to convince herself of what her mother said. She wanted to believe, deep down, that Ren didn't hate her. In fact, she wanted very much for him to like her, and she was only just starting to realize that now. Parts of her still didn't like that this had all been planned out. But Ren was a good boy, and not that bad to look at either. He was charming, and witty, and he knew how to make her laugh until she was crying. She saw the rose and gasped, clutching it and sniffing the petals. "Oh… I must go speak with him." She said, hopping up. "Thank you mother, for listening." she called, quickly running down to the stables and mounting a horse. She hoped she could catch him, and that maybe he might be on foot, or in a slow moving carriage.

Ella nodded her expression tight. She was clearly worried about her sister as well. "I worry for her health every day, Donavon. Every day, constantly. I'm afraid that one day… one day I'll just wake up and she'll be gone… because I didn't have her get enough exercise, or rest, or her proper medicines…" Her voice drifted off into a soft whisper and her face scrunched up. "It's my fault… for what happened…. If I hadn't forbidden her to come along, she would have been out in the party enjoying herself, not hiding out alone on a barely frozen over pond in the dark.

McKensie (that-one-girl) | 5564 comments Topher smiled as she cried tears of joy looking at the beautiful sunset. He took her hand and slowly kissed it "I have to tell you April...I...I was the one that left that letter for you...I see that sunset and it doesn't compare to your beauty...your heart. I love you and I know that...I don't have much of a chance...but I'm grateful I have this night to remember..." he said bashfully his face red as he looked away their food placed in front of them steaming and delicious. He cracked the lobster open and scraped the meat onto her plate glad to have a distraction.

Thomas got on one knee at that point, he pulled the beautiful opal ring he had bought from the side fairs and presented it to her "Make me an honest man dear Maria...marry me, let us show that nothing will dismay our love...I love you...even more then Sada at times...I don't want to leave, I want to protect and keep you safe. I'll do anything to have the clan accept me..."
Mani smiled softly "Your my only friend too...but, I want you to make friends with the other kids too...the girls want to know you. When we go to school we can be more social. It's better to have your clan have your back...maybe you can invite them to your birthday celebration?"

Abby giggled and smiled "I love that name...I named my kitten Tinker bell." she sighed leaning her head down so that she could see him "Climb up the balcony...so I can hold you..." she said seriously feeling tingles up her heart and body that she couldn't control she was falling hard for this handsome gardener.

Ren was walking to the guest house he was staying at for the summer, he was from France where his family was. He was only here for the short time but now he just wanted to go home. Joyella obviously wasn't interested and he missed his friends and siblings. He blinked hearing a horse gallop behind him, turning he was shocked to see Joyella "Joy?..." he said helping her off the horse "What is it?..."

Donavon shook his head and held her close "We wouldn't be together then...you'd be with that oaf of a man. That night was awful but it's miraculous she survived and maybe one day there will be a doctor that can cure her and she can live a fairly normal life...looks like she still will find love." he kissed her hair "I love how much you care..."

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments April looked up as he took her hand and kissed it sweetly, and she felt the flush rising up to her cheeks. This sweet boy actually loved her? She wasn't sure how she had ended up deserving the love of anyone. But she knew it was genuine, for he was turning as red as she knew she looked. She watched him pull apart the lobster for a moment, before she looked up at him. "I must be honest, Topher, I don't think I even know what love means anymore… but you are certainly the nicest man I have ever met." She said softly, hoping she hadn't been to brash about what she thought. She needed him to know where she stood.

Maria gasped, staring at him down on one knee and asking to make her the happiest woman alive. She nodded, throwing her arms around him. "Oh of course! I love you Thomas… I love you…. and I'm so happy you're trying to please my family, even if they can…" she lowered her voice. "Well… be stubborn and oafish sometimes." She smiled and kissed him then, "Funny, I suddenly feel much better."
Jenn nodded nervously. She wanted to have more friends, but being raised by pirates on the deck of a ship meant that she wasn't used to interacting with girls her age, and had only been able to converse with Mani because he had been a boy and friendly. "Alright…" She said softly. "I'll invite them then… but would they come?" she asked, clearly nervous.

Reece chuckled then. "Well seems as if you're more like my ma then anyone else. She'd love to meet you." He said, opening his eyes then. Climb up? He could do that fairly easily… but he'd get such a bad whipping if he was caught up there with her. He struggled with his options for a moment, and then smiled. It was worth the risk. She was such a sweet girl, and he didn't like the thought of her being alone. So he nodded and stood, swinging himself easily up to the railing which he climbed over and settled down beside her. "Good day, duchess. You wanted a hug?" He asked, gently guiding her into his arms and resting his chin on top of her head. "You tell me if I'm doing this right. I don't hug very many people." he smiled.

Joyella was out of breath from tacking up a horse so quickly, and from balancing on top for the gallop after him, so when he helped her slide off again, she took a moment to smooth her skirt so she was decent and catch her breath again, deciding that even trying to smooth her hair was pointless, before she smiled shyly at Ren and swallowed. "I… I had to come back and apologize for sending you away… I don't want you to think I was upset with you or anything… I just…" She scrunched up her face. "Man it's difficult to talk to boys." She muttered. "I… I was surprised… when you… uh…. when you kissed me… and I just wanted a bit of time to think about it, which is why I asked you to take me back again." She said honestly, blushing really hard by then, and trying to find out how to state to him what she was feeling, and how she thought.

Ella sighed, nodding as she leaned into him. He was right of course, and she knew she was stressing too much, but still, it was hard not to worry about her little sister. "You're the voice of reason that keeps me grounded, as always." she said, closing her eyes and tucking her face against his chest. After a momentary silence, she spoke again. "Donavon… when will we be expected to produce a heir?" She asked softly. It had been a topic on her mind for a while now.

McKensie (that-one-girl) | 5564 comments Topher was waiting for a hasty escape or an apology...even to be slapped upside the head. But this he did not expect, she was considering it? He looked up at her at that point "love doesn't need to be understood it just needs to be felt...if you feel like I can care for you and make you feel loved and appreciated...then that's all I need. Im not good at relationships I've never been in one. The only love I have experianced is in stories that I read to my brother...but you...you give me hope, you give me light and make me strive to be a better person..."

Thomas held her close and smiled slipping the ring on her finger and swaying her to unseen music as he kissed her neck. He heard a throat clear and looked up to see Sampson and Jackie "Sampson old boy haven't you heard of knocking?" He hugged his brother and grinned seeing Calder "Jenn is playing in the woods you can go find her if you'd like." He shook his head at Jackie's swollen stomach "another child? Don't you have any self control?"

Abby hugged him tightly and smiled "this is marvelous, and please just Abby..." She nuzzled stonach being dwarfed by him. She never felt so comforted and the night air was getting chilly she was so grateful to have him thete "Mmm your a master hugger in my opinion..," she whispered and sighed contently "don't worry no one comes in my room...they are too afraid..."

Ren smiled and put his fingers on her lips "princess...I know, I understand...I wasn't going away, I was trying to give you space...didn't you get the Rose I sent? It was to show that there were no hard feelings...I care deeply for you but I'm willing to take it slow...im willing to let things be as they are.."

Donavon frowmed looking down at her "well yes...either you or Joyella will produce a son...to become hsir, does that make you worried?"

message 1707: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments April thought about that for a moment. Feeling love? She'd love to feel loved. What he was offering her sounded beyond her wildest dreams, regardless of his status. She had never been in a good relationship, one where she felt appreciated. "You are also probably the most poetic person I've ever met…" She added, smiling softly at him as she split one of the warm buns and bit into it. It wasn't frilly or fancy, but it was soft and fresh and she found herself loving every bite. "I suppose… I suppose I'd be willing to try…" She said softly, glancing at him in almost a nervous manner.

Maria jumped in surprise when a male voice chuckled, disrupting her one peaceful moment with Thomas. She stepped back, smiling politely as a long haired weathered looking man strolled into their tent. "Knocking on what, old man?" He looked around the tent. "Your walls are made of canvas!" he grinned and hugged his brother, clapping his back and stepping away, watching as his son whooped and went to explore the woods. "Self control? I never heard of such a thing…" he laughed, looking to Jackie. "Dear… do you know the meaning of such a word?" he joked, glancing back at Thomas. "Enough about us. I haven't met your new wife yet. Maria, right?"
Maria nodded respectfully. "Yes, that is correct. Pleasure to meet you."
Sampson shook her hand. "And you too lass! Just as beautiful as Sada was. Poor soul." He shook his head, lumbering around the tent. "So, got any food?"

Reece smiled, relaxing his arms around her. She was such a petite girl, he almost felt like he had to hold her gently and protect her from even the slightest wind that would break her. Such a delicate beauty. "Why thank you. I've always wanted to be a master hugger." He said softly, laughing. His laugh died then, and he looked down at the mop of hair under his chin. "Why are they afraid?" He asked, not sure why anyone would be afraid of coming in here. It was a nice room, with such nice company.

Joyella's smile was glad as she nodded and relaxed slowly, the tension leaving her. "I did get the rose." She said softly. "It was the sweetest thing… even if I still don't think I have thorns." she said indignantly, her old spark back again. She huffed out slowly. "Never thought I'd actually be happy about this whole betrothal thing… remember when we used to plot how to kill each other?" She asked, a smile tugging at her lips. "I suppose a lot has changed since then…"

Ella shook her head, not having meant to upset him. She just wished to talk about the topic, and have an understanding with him about how she felt about it, and how this would all play out. "I just don't want to have a child just because the public wants a child. I want our family to be just that, a family." She explained. "And if we do have a boy, I don't want him treated differently from the others… and… well. What if we can't have a boy?" She asked softly, worried.

McKensie (that-one-girl) | 5564 comments Topher beamed, his eyes shining with joy as he pulled her up from the seat. Tony was getting the band playing, an accordian a guitar and a trumpet. It played a romantic italian song soft and flowing aged with years of couples falling in love. Topher slowly started to dance with her close enough that he could smell her hair. It was warm and comfortable, like a nice dream he never wanted to end. "I'm afraid I cannot dance." he said softly by her ear as they were just holding eachother and swaying nothing fancy.

Jackie laughed and shook her head "be respectful for once in your life, this isn't the sea anymore." she teased her husband and smiled at Maria "I'm sure we've met before I used to work in Tortuga every season that the gypsies were there. But it's nice of you to join our crazy family." she hugged the girl wanting her to feel love and appreciated, and not in memory of Sada. She put a hand on her belly the baby very restless.
Thomas shook his head "Still as loud and obnoxious as the day I left brother!" he teased and hugged him again as he grabbed plates for them serving his scones and hot stew with elk meat "how long are you staying on land?"

Abby paused just taking in his scent and the peace he brought "They...they don't know how to talk to me. I don't know...only my sister visits and...well she doesn't treat me the same anymore. My mother just cries when she sees me and my father is gone so often I fear he forgets he even has children...that's why I stay at the palace, they don't know how to handle me at home..." she said quietly her sweet voice cracking as she started to cry. She buried her face in his chest so he wouldn't see her be so vulnerable.

Ren chuckled "Oh but you do, they are prickly and very hard to get past...but once you do...just a beautiful rose is left. Enchanting and perfect...a timeless beauty that will never get old." he said caressing her cheek and smiling "Oh do I...I remember playing with Eric and you would always have to tag along...I couldn't stand it...every summer with you...then I started to pine for you in the cold winter months...long to see your smile and hear you laugh till you snort." he leaned in close enough to feel her lips but not yet kissing "I'm going to kiss you now...with tongue and you are not going to pull away..."

Donavon held her close "We will just be a family, but he will have to be groomed as I was and if we can't have a boy then Joyella and Renold will give the heir. There is no pressure my love..." he assured and kissed her "one thing at a time...first we must learn to create a child." he smiled wolfishly.

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments The music started on cue, and the smile on Topher's face could have melted her heart. Actually… it did. She stood, following him a little ways away from their table before he took her in his arms and they started to sway. It was a dance in its own right, and she smiled lightly. "This is dancing, Topher." she said, her smile growing. She lay her head against his chest and drew comfort from him. She had never felt this safe in a man's arms before, and suddenly she realized that this… this right here, was what her heart had been yearning for.

Maria smiled a little wider when Jackie spoke with her, and she nodded, hugging her back. "I think we must have met a few times." She agreed, recognizing the female pirate. Sampson and Jackie had been rather notorious after all. "It's nice to finally speak with you though. How is your child?" She asked, not missing that the baby seemed pretty far along, and that must be bothering her some.
Sampson chuckled, helping him get the stew out. "I never change." he agreed, sitting down and wasting no time on getting started on the stew. "Wow… this is really good! What is it?" he asked, as he scarfed more down. "We'll hang out with you guys for a few days… then we'll be staying until the birth of the baby back at Dad's place. Then it's back to the sea." he said honestly.

Reece's expression grew sober and his arms tightened around her a little in a comforting manner. He let the silence sit, as she cried into his shirt. He didn't mind. The poor girl needed a good cry. And he didn't pretend to know how to fix her problems either. He just sat there, running one hand through her hair, and letting her cry. He was doing the one thing he knew how to do… just be there for her.

Joyella gave him a look, but it was a playful one. For deep down, she knew she had thorns, and she was secretly glad that he wasn't deterred by them. She laughed then, remembering those days. "You know I thought I liked Eric. In fact, I thought of kissing him, just to make you mad." She admitted, giggling softly. She looked up then, noticing suddenly how close he had gotten. She could clearly see his dark eyes and lashes and her heart sped up tremendously at his words. "I uh… I … ok…" She murmured, not really thinking straight. So this was what all those other girls felt like when he worked his charms on them. She secretly wondered how many of them he had actually kissed, as she closed her eyes, anticipation growing.

Ella nodded, understanding that any son they had would have to be trained to be a proper king in the future. She expected that. After all, she had been around for much of Donavon's childhood, and had watched him learn. What she had wanted to hear, however, was that they could still just be a family, and there was no pressure. And of course, he knew what to say. His last comment, however, made her laugh softly. "Mhm. And I bet you want to get started on that right away, hm mister?" She asked, looking up at him coyly.

McKensie (that-one-girl) | 5564 comments Topher smiled pressing his face in her golden locks, he just held her as the music changed song after song. The sun was dipping out of sight and he leaned in and kissed her lips ever so softly nuzzling his nose against hers. He loved her soft flushed cheeks and that tender smile that made his whole spirit leap from his body. He checked the time and sighed "I have to go make sure my brother is alright...do you mind darling? I promise I'll take you home right after. It's just his first day of school and I worry about how it went, he's never been around kids his own age before..." he tried to explain as he paid for the dinner and helped her back into the buggy.

Jackie smiled rubbing her belly "I think she's ready to come now but I'm hoping that I have another week before..." she admitted and slowly lowered herself to the ground "Getting back up may be a challenge!" she teased and pecked her husband's cheek as he fed her some stew "Oh my word that is amazing!" she praised nibbling on the scone "Love why can't we eat food this good?!" she nudged Sampson playfully and winced as the baby kicked back. "She's going to be tough like her daddy..."
Thomas smiled taking Maria's hand wondering if she was thinking about kids or whether or not that was even priority. They just were engaged afterall no rush. He grinned as Jenn came running in with Mani and Calder "Manners young lady! Why don't you say hello to your aunt and uncle? I believe they have a present for the birthday girl!"

Abby looked up at him gratefully "Thank you...for just being here..." she said softly, but her gratitude was overwhelming. Usually people try to fix everything to make it better she was never allowed to be sad about her situation. Ella always made sure she was smiling and grateful to be alive this was the first time she had cried in front of someone. She kissed his jaw and nuzzled him "It's getting dark...I don't want you to be in trouble...as long as I see you tomorrow right?" she asked hopefully looking into his dark green eyes that caused shivers down her spine.

Ren slowly kissed her, sucking on her lip and waiting till she allowed him to explore her mouth. It was deep but tender and graceful knowing she was inexperianced so he didn't take it to the next level. Yes he had kissed many times but this...this felt more real, more personal he was more concerned about how she was feeling then his own pleasure. He pulled back and cupped her face "are you alright?"

Donavon laughed "Not now, perhaps this weekend..right now you rest while I tell my parents of the engagement. Tomorrow we will tell the public and celebrate." he kissed her lovingly and nuzzled her neck "I'll come back later tonight once the servants go to bed..."

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments April had experienced kisses before, obviously, but nothing like this. This wasn't demanding, it was sweet, and gentle, and almost persuasive. And she felt herself melt against him, her heart fluttering. She was genuinely sad when he said they needed to go. Obviously she understood. Time never stopped, after all, but she wished the moment could have slowed and lasted a little bit longer. "No problem." She assured, walking out with him and back into the carriage. "How old is your brother?" She asked in interest as they started to roll away. She hadn't ever met his brother, after all.

Maria nodded her understanding. "Well that will be exciting once they do come." She said kindly, sitting with the family. She was glad to have someone new to meet who was so friendly.
Sampson shook his head. "We can't have food like this because I can't cook this good!" He explained, pecking her lips. "You still doing alright, love?" he asked, as always, worried about her and the child. This wasn't their first baby, but it was still his job to take care of her.
Maria squeezed his hand, enjoying watching his brother and wife interact.
Jenn stopped, her eyes going wide as she saw Sampson and aunt Jackie. "Uncle Sampson! Aunt Jackie!" She giggled running to go hug them. Remembering her manners, she paused to stumble into a curtsy before falling into their arms. "Hows the ship? How is Jack? And Mark? And Antony? And old Beck?" She asked, wondering how her former pirate friends were. "Did you really get me a gift?"

Reece lifted his head and nodded, the expression in his eyes saying he understood. She was right, however. It was getting dark, and he needed to get back to his mother. She'd be setting supper out now, and wondering where he was. "I'll be back tomorrow night." He promised, loosening his arms from around her. He risked a peck to her cheek, and then grinned, saluting and swinging himself back over the balcony. He scaled a bit of the way down, and then jumped the rest, taking off at a jog back towards his garden to put away the tools before heading home.

Joyella found herself completely lost him in a span of a few seconds, only aware of how his mouth felt on hers, and where his hands where supporting her against him, and how their heart beats sounded against each other. She was so lost in the kiss that it took her a second to come back again and open her eyes slowly. She blinked. "Dizzy and a little out of breath…" She said honestly. "Is that normal?" She asked, completely naive when it came to boys. Sure, she had thought about kissing one, but that had been strictly off limits, because she was betrothed.

Ella smiled, pulling away from him and tucking herself back into bed. "Alright mother." She teased, but she knew she needed the rest. She closed her eyes, getting comfy. "Don't be gone too long." She insisted, "I'll miss you." She said, opening one eye at him and blowing him a kiss. "And good luck with your parents." She added, knowing that his mother still didn't really trust her. She understood why, but it still hurt sometimes.

McKensie (that-one-girl) | 5564 comments Topher smiled as he drove them to their new place, he held her hand the entire way playing with her long delicate fingers as they drove. He helped her out and smiled sneaking a peck to the cheek. The way her hair looked in the moonlight was magical and she looked so happy and alive not fearful like when she was around Sam. "Joshua is nine going on ten I believe...im not so good at keeping up with birthdays and years but he's a good kid. It's just been me and him. Saun arranged for us to have this place it's like a mansion compared to what we dwelled in before." He opened the door for her and led her in "Josh? Where are you kid we have company!"

Jackie held her little niece close so glad to see the little bundle of joy "my word Jen you look like actually female! Good thing your daddy found Maria to turn a wild rough pirate into a beautiful little girl." She teased kissing her cheek "of course we got you a present baby! Turning seven is a very big deal! But you are going to have to persuade your Uncle Sam to give it to you." She teased letting her go so her and Sampson could talk. She was starting to feel tight pains and breathed through them closing her eyes trying to be present to keep the baby in.

Beth was cooking as her son came rushing in, buttercup jumped in fright and leapt on the shelf "Reece boy you are going to kill that poor cat one of these times! Now come in here and give your mother a proper hello!" She scolded but smiled, she was still young looking her greying locks looked elegant in the bun tucked low at her neck she had the same sparkling eyes as her son and adored her children more then anything on earth.

Abby watched him go with a sad smile but she knew he'd be back, he'd always be there for her and she was starting to fall head over heels for this handsone, charming gardener. She blew him a kiss and headed to her sisters room jumping on the bed as Donavon left "Ella! I have such news!"

Ren chuckled and brushed her dark curls away from her face "very normal my princess...I think it is unsafe for you to ride alone in your dazed condition." He lifted her into the horse behind him and headed back to the palace hoping she wouldn't get in trouble for how late it was getting "do you still want to plot my death?.." He asked teasingly looking back at her.

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments April looked up at their house. It was a nice little town house, but if he had been staying in something smaller… well then she truly pitied him. "I'm glad someone was kind enough to get you a proper house." She said honestly. "I would have tried to help if I had known…" she said honestly, as a young boy with a head full of dark curls ran up grinning. "You're finally home!" he exclaimed, hugging his brother. He beamed shyly at April. "So you're the angel!" He said, clearly excited. "Toph, you were really right, she really is beautiful!"
April blushed, glancing down. "You're too kind, young Joshua."

Jennifer giggled, nodding. "Maria sews me dresses!" She said, bounding over to Sampson. He grinned and pulled out a small packaged, presenting it to her. "This is a piece of chocolate, all the way from the lush rain forests we visited." He said, pecking her cheek. "Don't eat it all at once, and remember to share with your friends!" He cautioned as Jenn squealed and hugged him tight, running out of the tent with the boys to go open up her treat.
Maria glanced over at Jackie, her smile diminishing when she noticed her pained look. "Jacqueline, are you sure you're alright?" She asked softly, putting a hand on her arm. "Do you need anything?"

Reece grinned sheepishly. "Sorry Buttercup." He said, to witch the poor frightened cat merely hissed at him. "that thing doesn't like me anyway." He said, hugging his mother. "How have you been today, Mama? Whatever you're cooking smells delicious." he went to the sink and scrubbed his hands, wiping his face as well, knowing his mother liked him to wash up all the dirt before dinner.

Ella watched rather forlornly as he walked away, and then her sister bounded into the room, jumping on the bed with more energy than she'd had in years. She could guess why she was smiling so bright, but she didn't steal her thunder. "What?" She asked, sitting up a bit and raising her eyebrows. "What happened?" She wanted to hear it from her perspective after all, and she had also missed a bit when she was talking with Donavon.

Joyella's blush only increased, but she nodded, not resisting as he helped her back onto her horse. She held onto him, laying her cheek on his back, not minding hugging him at all. "Hmmm… yes, sometimes." She admitted. "But not right now…" she added a little softer, watching as the sun's last light started to disappear. It was so strange to be so comfortable hugging her childhood nemesis. How things could change… and yet she was perfectly content… a little nervous, yes, but content.

McKensie (that-one-girl) | 5564 comments Topher flushed obviously embarrased "I uh talk in my sleep sometimes, he overheard me speaking about an angel...which was you." He rubbed the back of his neck and smiled "we didn't have desert, come I'll make you some hot Cocoa." He said thrilled that he had something worthwhile to give. He set her down at the new table and pulled out mugs getting the chocolate melted on the stove. "How was school Josh?" He asked as he stirred the mixture, Rags placed his paws on April's leg and looked up at her with the sweetest eyes sniffing her hand trying to get to know her.

Jackie looked at Sampson, she knew the signs and well Sad'a delivered Calder so she trusted the gypsies to help her through this delivery "I believe that the baby is coming..." She said as calm as she could but pained since the contractions were most definately starting.
Thomas paled he didn't trust childbirth it's how he lost his Sada, he looked at Maria knowing eye would start giving him commands taking charge as she did everything else.
Mani was looking at the chocolate piece amazed "what's it like?" He asked as she took the first nibble. The three of them were fast friends as they gathered giving her their small presents. Calder gave her a starfish that wrapped around her hand playfully and Mani had the lute wrapped up in pink gauze waiting patiently to give it to her.

Beth smiled and set the table "just balsamic chicken nothing special, next week though is your birthday. What would you like your old mum to make you? It's only one day a year I use the good sugar." She flicked his nose lovingly and eyed him seeing something very new in his facial features "what on earth happened today? Find a bit of treasure?"

Abby smiled softly "it's Reece...the gardener that stole my heart Ella...he took me inside when I was feeling weak. To cheer me up he sent a beautiful little flower planted in a pot to have at my bedside." She lay on her pillow watching her sister "I sent him Piertro feathers and he wrote me a note saying he'd send me something beautiful but I was the loveliest thing he ever set eyes on...we met at the balcony and he quoted Shakespear to me...he was so eloquent and romantic...then we just talked all afternoon and he treats me like me...not like an old invalid. I think I love him Ella...is this love?"

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments April laughed merrily, clearly enjoying that. "That's so sweet! And hot cocoa sounds perfect right around now." She said honestly, sitting at their table. She watched in interest as Topher started melting the chocolate. And then something scratched at her leg and she was greeted by the most adorable little puppy she had ever seen. "Hello… and what's you're name?" She asked, scratching his ears. Joshua came up to sit beside her and he beamed. "Thats our dog Rags! He loves you…" He said. "School was different, and interesting… but a lot of fun." he admitted. "I met lots of new people and learned how to read better! The teacher gave me this new book called Treasure Planet!" He said, grinning. "I get hot cocoa too, right?" he asked hopefully.

Sampson's eyes widened at her announcement, and he would have started panicking if Maria had not gotten up and immediately told him to go fetch a pan of warm coals from the main fire, which he did numbly. Maria arranged the tent, putting down blankets and thick cloths that could get messy and be washed later, moving the furs underneath, helping Jackie to get comfortable on them. "Good thing this happened here and not on the road…" She mused. "Thomas, please fetch warm water, and go check on that brother of yours."
Jenn had closed her eyes so she could experience the chocolate properly, and when she opened them again, she was grinning. "That is just about the most amazing thing I have ever tasted in my entire life!" She exclaimed, snapping off small pieces for Mani and Calder, which she passed around. "You two are too sweet, you didn't have to get me gifts." She said, petting the starfish fondly, clearly thinking it was wonderful to receive them just the same. "And Mani… what on earth is that pink thing?" She asked, her eyes lit up with excitement.

Reece shook his head, placing the small potted flower he had brought home on their windowsill. "Anything you cook is amazing, Ma." He argued, fixing the flower so it would face the sun, before coming to sit at the table. "Oh mum, you don't have to use up all our good sugar. Bake a nice brownie, and then I insist you eat it all." he said firmly, knowing how rare it was for them to get sugar. He blushed lightly, shaking his head, "Aw ma… you're too perceptive. It was merely a short conversation I enjoyed." He said, trying to skirt around the topic.

Ella leaned back against her pillow again, grinning at her sister as they lay there and told stories. She had to admit, the boy was quite the gentleman and knew his way around the ladies, to be doing that much for her sister. "I'm glad you've found a man that's actually somewhat deserving of your wonderfulness, Abs." She said, pecking her forehead. "It's not for me to say whether or not it is love. That is for you to determine on your own." She smiled a little more playfully. "But if he turns out bad, or you two get up to something, I'll come in and scare him away." She promised, winking. "Just be careful, ok? I'm sure he could never be as bad as Edward, but there isn't a day I don't wish I could've ended it sooner." She admitted. If only ma and pa had seen…

McKensie (that-one-girl) | 5564 comments Topher chuckled as she fawned over Rags who still looked pretty pathetic but much healthier. He poured three cups of hot cocoa and sat on the other side of April "of course you get a cup Josh! And I told you that you would love school, I've never heard of that book though you are going to have to tell me all about it!" He ruffled his hair and smiled at April glad that she was getting along so well with his family.

Jackie nodded weakly as she laid back feeling the softness of the furs and starting to relax. Thomas quickly pumped the water and heated it up on the fire as he directed Sampson to where to leave the coals "gypsies are highly superstitious we aren't allowed inside during the birthing ceremony. Come meet my good friend Habi it'll take your mind off of it." He offered taking him to the neighboring wagon.
Mani beamed and presented the lure to her, it was livibgly carved and polished with floral designs and birds along the side "papa already tuned it so it's ready to play, happy birthday Jenn!"

Beth whipped him lightly with the wooden spoon "don't be telling me what I can and cannot do Reece. Im your mama and its your 20th birthday we will be celebrating and there is nothing that charmed tongue of yours can say to make me change my mind...now who is she?" She beamed seeing him look up surprised "I know love when I see it."

Abby shook her head "he isn't bad at all, he's the kindest most perfect man I have ever met...and I cannot wait a whole day to see him again! But he has his duties and I don't want him to get into trouble...he's such an artist...oh! I want to pick out books for him to read to me! Have any suggestions?"

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Joshua's grin was the size of the crescent moon as he bounced over and scooped up a mug, carefully cradling it in his hands and carting it over near their fire, already sipping it even though it burnt his tongue. "Thanks!" He said, keeping quiet then and beaming. He was enjoying listening to his brother and his girlfriend talk. "I'll tell you later." He promised.
April took her own mug and risked a sip and then smiled brightly. It was heavenly and thick and warmed her right to the core. "This is really good." She murmured, taking another sip. "Thank you. And thank you for the dinner tonight. I really enjoyed it." She insisted.

Maria made sure Jackie was well supported and comfortable, nodding to the boys as they left the water and coals and then left again. "Breathe, Jackie, that's the most important part right now. You're doing great." She promised, just trying to get her comfortable.
Sampson was just pale as he nodded slowly, walking with Thomas to this other gypsy tent where a smiley man looked up and waved. "Thomas! Who is this?" He asked, holding out his hand to shake.
Sampson managed a smile. "Sampson, and I'm his brother. Nice to meet you."
Habi nodded, worried a little about how pale this man was. "Nice to meet you as well!"
Jenn beamed, hugging the lyre. It was so smooth and perfectly carved. "Thankyou!" She said, hugging both Calder and Mani at the same time in a bear hug. "Now sit… both of you. I want to play for you." She stuck the starfish in her hair like a flower, and then set up the lyre and started to pluck a woeful tune that the sailors sometimes sang, except it was modified in a gypsy style, and with a bit of her own flare.

Reece rubbed his arm, looking indignant. "Mama! I only wish for you to have some joy in life! I will not deprive an old woman of her chocolate!" He teased, picking up his utensils. "If you really must know, she's a duchess who only took notice of me because there's no one else there for her. She has heart problems after falling through the ice a year ago." he explained, cutting through his food and taking a bite. He raised and eyebrow at her. "You know, mum, that we are not a possibility. But I am amused that you are still up to your matchmaking shenanigans. You know I'll choose my own wife by now, right?" he asked, taking another bite.

Ella nodded, brushing a hand through her sister's hair. "I know Abby, Donavon has told me about him, and I approve, don't worry." She said, her smile gentle. "You must be careful about it, however, as the magistrate will be inclined to beat the poor boy if he's caught with you." She cautioned. "As for books… Well. I know the ones that I've enjoyed. Like Moby Dick, and the Austen Novels, and even the ones by Verne, but I have no idea what your man might like."

McKensie (that-one-girl) | 5564 comments Topher chuckled watching his brother pretend not to eavesdrop though obviously he was. He sipped his own mug watching her with that soft smile "Of course...thank you for agreeing to it." he kissed her softly and nudged his nose against hers "Just let me know when you are ready to go home...I don't want to keep you out later then you want...You have a sister right? What's she like? Is she a dancer as well?"

Jackie gasped out in pain as she arched swearing and instinctively trying to get up or move away from the pain.
Thomas smiled teasingly at his brother "Don't mind the pale one...his wife is giving birth in our tent...he's never been one to handle stress and pain well." he squeezed his brother's shoulder "Jenn and Habi's son are the best of friends I can't have one without the other these days. Habi is an incredible wood carver...really he should sell his pieces, I'm going to commission him to make something for Maria for our wedding."
Mani listened to her enchanting song in awe, anything that involved Jenn he was passionate about. Calder on the other hand tried not to be bored but it was difficult.

Beth raised a brow and smiled softly "Ah yes I know of that girl...they call her the tattered angel in the village. Son you do know that she can marry who she chooses? Her sister will be queen she has no commitment. Don't sell yourself short, she obviously doesn't trust everyone...she chose you. Tell me, did she react physically? Want to be held or kissed?"

Abby smiled softly and sighed "The magistrate doesn't even check my room anymore...only you and him ever visit...and we will be careful he's never in my room so therefore we aren't breaking any rules." she nodded at the familiar titles and yawned tiredly "Do I have to have my meds? they hurt so badly Ella..."

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments April smiled lightly, leaning her elbows on the table and listening to him as he asked about her sister, and taking her home. "I should probably go home again before ten, so that she doesn't panic or anything." She said honestly, even though she hated to leave. She closed her eyes, enjoying being close to a male, and not frightened, or persuaded. "My sister is studying to be a doctor… even though we're twins, sometimes I feel we have nothing in common." She admitted, shrugging. "It's nice having a best friend that's also a sister."

Maria squeezed her hand gently, encouraging her to lay back down and grit her teeth through it. She helped massage her stomach and thighs gently, trying to soothe her and coax the child out.
Habi smiled at Sampson, his expression sympathetic. "Ah. I see. Congratulations to you then!" He said, patting his shoulder, to which Sampson merely managed a small smile and a nod. "It's good to hear of our Jenn making friends."
Habi chuckled. "Oh don't you worry. My boy stuck a bone into some of the older boys who were picking on her. She's well taken care of." he promised.
Sampson truly smiled then. "Is that so. Sounds like quite the boy you've got. He'd make a good pirate."
Habi chuckled. "Oh I'm sure he would. Don't tell him that."
Jenn, as always, got lost in her music, and she closed her eyes, playing through it just by feel. When the song drifted away, she beamed, standing up and taking a huge bow. "thank you, thank you very much!" She said, leaning the lyre against her tent. "Now… who wants to climb trees? I saw a honey comb up in one yesterday!"

Reece's eyes widened a little at that comment. He hadn't known, after all, he hadn't known who she was in relation to, and he hadn't known that her sister would be queen. "My… I suppose she couldn't really marry any higher than that." he commented, sipping at the milk on the table. "I think you're just too optimistic mother." he insisted, finding it crazy that the girl could like him, or love him. "Well… she did ask to be held…" he admitted, shrugging. "But that doesn't mean anything. The poor girl was lonely!"

Ella nodded, braiding her bangs back slowly. "As long as you're careful." She promised, knowing that the magistrate never went in her room. But someone could always tattle, and she didn't want her sister to have to watch her love get whipped. Ella chewed at her lip, her heart aching. "Abby… trust me, I hate that you have to take them at all… you know I just worry about your health, right? I want you to get better." She said honestly, "I don't want you to hurt…" her expression was a pained one.

McKensie (that-one-girl) | 5564 comments Topher blinked not realizing she had a twin "sounds like quite the opposite of you love, but yet still just as lovely im sure. A female doctor...wow, she must be very dedicated and passionate to accomplish such a title. He played with her hair softly "im glad you have support and friendship when I can't be there...sounds like you two are not ones to reckon with." He teased leaning against her forehead "are you warm enough? I don't want to go back in the cold and get you sick..."

Jackie felt eased and comforted, she closed her eyes and moaned feeling the baby shift "oh...Mmm" she laid back widening her legs knowing the easy part of labor was ending quickly.
Thomas smiled "I think Jenn would die if something happened to Mani, they are inseparable. I can imagine the boy asking for her hand. He shook his head of the frightening image "far too young and innocent for such thoughts..." He said knowing Habi probably didn't like the thought as well "I saw that Rachelle watching you from the stream, what is happening there?"
Mani bit his lip knowing better "Jenn we shouldn't, wait till one of the men can safetly get it...the trees are weak from the drought they couldn't hold our weight.

Beth smiled knowingly "trust me my boy, she is not thinking of loneliness when near you. You are a good boy, I raised a good son...a handsome charming boy who always treats everyone with love and respect...do you not think she is risking getting in trouble to be held by you? Love can make you forget all that."

Abby sighed handing her the steel syringe from the dresser and uncovered her chest so the medicine could be inserted "I know Ella...distract me please..." She didn't want to cry it made both of them feel worse about if. She knew in order to stay fairly well she must do this. Freddie was very clear he came every week to check her progress him and his new wife Amalie.

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments April smiled lightly, nodding. "We are quite different. But we get along because of that." She grinned. "You're right, though. You don't want to cross either of us." She insisted. She stood, taking his hand and pulling him to the little sofa that was by the fire. Joshua had already curled up and was pretending to sleep there, but she didn't mind. "Keep me warm then." she said softly, climbing onto the couch, and waiting for him to join her. She wanted to snuggle in her new man's arms.

Maria set up the basin of warm water nearby, using the coals to keep it a good temperature, heating the blanket it rested on as well. "You're doing so well, Jacqueline." she praised, watching the progress of the baby. "Push whenever you feel the urge too." She insisted. "And remember to keep breathing."
Habi kept a straight face, merely glancing at Thomas. "Rachel is an old friend of mine, and she and my wife were quite close. Nothing more is happening." he insisted, setting mugs of ale on the table for them, should they want a drink.
Jenn was a good climber, and she was confident in her abilities to get the honey. "No one can get it if I can't! I'm the lightest climber, so I should be the one to go get it." she smiled and kissed his cheek. "I'll be careful, I promise." taking a small tin of coals, she scaled up the first few branches easily, waving down at them from the height. "See? No problem. I'm almost to the nest!" She called down.

Reece actually felt the blush rising in his neck and he shook his head. "Mama!" he protested, a little shocked to hear his mother insinuating such things. "She's not risking anything by being near me… I'd be the one in trouble if I was found in her rooms. Besides the fact that her parents may be mad at her, but as you said, she can choose her own spouse, no? That doesn't mean I can choose mine." He said solemnly.

Ella hating doing this, she honestly did, and if she didn't have a good strong stomach she would probably faint from the process. She filled the needle with her medicine, and swabbed the spot it would go in. "That boy likes you, you know." She said gently, looking up at her sister as she aimed the needle and pushed. "We only looked for a moment, but Donavon and I saw how he was holding you on that balcony. You couldn't see the smile on the kid's face, but we did…" She smiled, kissing her hair. "All done." she put the needle and medicine away, lifting her and carrying her back to her room. "Get some rest now, ok?" She said, tucking her under the covers. "And don't dream too much about boys…" She teased.

He said lovingly but obviously his brother would know to leave. He curled her up in his arms and nuzzled her "in my wildest dreams I never thought you would actually choose me..." He said softly and kissed her neck taking in her scent and soft skin.

Jackie groaned and pushed feeling the pain start to increase "distract me!" She yelled wishing that Sada was there last time it was better because they could talk and Sada kept her calm. She felt ripping and arched off the furs "no...no...no..."
Thomas shook his head "she doesn't think so...she was watching you closely a soft smile on her lips as her blouse was falling off of her shoulders. She was flirting Habi, she could have easily covered up and she did not. Sampson not knowing either parties what do you think was going on?"
Mani watched nervously his heart racing "just grab a small cone and get down Jenn please!" He insisted wishing she wasn't so stubborn and would listen to him.

Beth played with his hair "don't give up my boy...that's all I ask. She only has you at the moment take that as a great blessing...she's a good girl and your a good man." She flicked his ear sitting down and eating enjoying the moist meat and delicious potatoes. "Good season for the harvest this year...tastes delicious."

Abby whinpered her chest shaking as it was inserted, she let out a sharp cry and then it was done. She curled up in her sister's arns the medicine a sedative and always put her to sleep "just one boy...im going to marry him..." She said drowsily and dosed off her head hitting the pillow as she dreamed peavefully.

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Joshua groaned softly about not being sleepy as he pulled himself up and scooped up Rags, cradling him as he walked back to his bedroom and disappeared down the hall.
April closed her eyes, shifting a little and getting comfortable in Topher's arms. Then she relaxed and let out a contented sigh. Her smile was somewhat sad at his comment. "And never in a thousand years, did I think I'd ever find a man who appreciated me." She whispered, leaning back into him, his kisses sending shivers across her skin.

Maria did not know how to help her beyond the obvious practical ways. After all, she was a work and no talk sort of woman, and not nearly as friendly as Sada had been. "I can see your baby," she encouraged. "Think of them, they'll be here soon." she said, helping maneuver the child as it slid out rather forcefully. She immediately bathed it, cleaning it up and cutting the cord, wrapping the little thing up in blankets and setting it in her arms. "You have a daughter." She smiled. "I need to give you a few stitches, so just be prepared for that." she said, sanitizing the tools.
Habi looked indignant and thrilled and embarrassed all at once.
Sampson chuckled, halfway through downing his mug of ale. "Good stuff this. And if you really want my opinion, I think the girl loves you, and that you fancy her as well."
Habi shook his head, flustered. "I swear… we're just friends… we couldn't… that's not…." He shook his head again.
Jenn nodded back at Mani, not wanting to make him worry too much. "All right." She promised. "Just one then I'll be down." She shimmied up the rest of the way and grabbed out her tin of coals, dumping some pine needles in to make good smoke. Then she stuck the can near the entrance of the hive and waited.
Unfortunately, Jenn wasn't very practiced at smoking out bees, and most of the smoke was just going out of the hive, and not into it. A low rumbling buzz woke in the hive, as one bee zipped out, stinging her wrist. Jen winced, but stayed on her perch. And then tens of hundreds of bees swarmed out, all angry. Jenn shrieked, swatting at bees and dropping the coals, and also her grip on the branch. It could have held her up, if she had kept her hold on it, but with nothing below her and the ground, Jenn crashed back through the tree, hitting branches, and then the forest floor, a few of the bees still hanging around her, looking for places to sting.

Reece nodded, spooning another potato into his mouth. He shrugged lightly as he swallowed. "Alright, Ma, I won't give up, for you. But don't get your hopes up either." He insisted, smiling then. "It's been a lovely season over all. The flowers are doing well and I'm being praised for how well they look." He said honestly. "Come winter, though, my job will get mighty boring."

Ella smiled as she brushed back her sister's bangs and flicked out the light. "Sweet dreams." She whispered, closing the door and going back to her own room. She changed into her nightgown and climbed beneath the covers, wondering when Donavon would be finished and would come in to join her. She decided to nap until he arrived.

Or should we stay like this a bit longer?" He offered tracing her waist and back "How's your ankle doing?" He gently traced the bandages and up her leg but still felt respectful.

Jackie gasped happiky holding the little girl to her chest to feed "hi pretty girl...oh you are so lovely..." She said overwhelmed brushing her little curls back. She felt the stitches but she was so filled with love she didn't even whimper. She shook her head smiling at Maria "thank you...for getting my little girl here...and being so good for my brother in law. I've never seen him so happy or comfortable...and Jenn...thank you, you saved this family."
Thomas heard the scream and quickly dropped his mug as he shattered to the ground he rushed to his girl sobbing and shooing away the bees. Mani had gotten violently stung and was cradling her sobbing "Jenn...my perfect little Jenn..." He cried scared "Papa!"

Beth smiled squeezing his arm "winter is a beautiful season as well...and then the flowers will pop up again all healthy and beautiful come spring." She smiled eating the chicken "so what will you do tomorrow with dear Abigail?"

Donavon smiled as he approached his parents and cleared his throat "mother, father I have some glorious news and I think you will be pleased...i proposed to Lady Ella and she said yes I believe a summer wedding will be beautiful don't upu?"

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments April smiled, clearly enjoying this. "Mmm… both…" She whispered, definitely warmer, but not wanting it to end either. The shivers were only intensifying as he ran his hand down her waist and leg. "My ankle is feeling a lot better since that first day." she said honestly. "Thanks to you." she smiled up at him and risked pecking his jaw. "I don't know what I would have done without your help.

Maria finished cleaning up and putting everything away, just watching the woman hold her child. It was all worth it. And when she complimented her, Maria found herself actually blushing and looking down at her hands. "No one has ever said something so kind to me before." She said, "thank you. It means a lot." She was rather insecure of how good a wife she was being, as she felt like she could never live up to her sister's legacy.
Habi rushed out after Thomas, gasping when he saw the broken little girl in his son's arms. Some parts of her were very clearly broken, like her left arm, and her right knee. But her neck seemed intact, and that was the most important thing. "Mani, carry her into our tent, quick, and get her on the table." He ordered, knowing there was no time for sentiments right now if they wished to save her life. Both her injuries and the amount of bee stings she had gotten could kill her. "Thomas," he held up a few dried leaves. "We need fresh leaves of this plant, fetch as many as you can. They will draw out the poison from the stings if we are quick enough." He ordered, fetching his tools, including sharp knives, needle and thread, hardening cast materials, and fabric for bandages and splints.
Jenn moaned softly, a pained sound, but it wasn't wheezing. If a rib had gone into her lung, no one would have been able to fix it. She was lucky in that regard.

Reece nodded, helping her carve off pieces of their chicken and dishing them out equally for them both. "I suppose so. It's just that winter draws ever nearer… and I think about it more often now." He shrugged, finishing his helping of chicken and then getting up to help with the dishes. "I will go see her again, and sit with her on her balcony. Maybe I'll tell her some of the stories you told me as a child, mama, or maybe I'll make something up."

James and Lydia both looked up, surprised when their son appeared, and with such big news. James clearly looked thrilled, and Lydia looked rather stunned. "A summer wedding will be absolutely wonderful." James stated, coming over to clap his boy on the back. "Congratulations son, we're proud of you." he encouraged. Lydia seemed to come to her senses and she nodded, standing as well to come over and hug Donavon. "My goodness… such a big boy already."

She asked seriously looking over her angel "oh she's beautiful...what is a gypsy name that represents beauty and grace?" She felt exhausted and closed her eyes resting.
Mani was starting to get an allergic reaction from the bee stings but he refused to leave her side. He was crying resting his head near hers "If should have been me...Jenn please don't die...please..." He begged and started to feel his organs shutting down.
Thomas quickly gathered all of the leaves and made the pollus and gave it to Habi immediately "please...please you have to make sure shes ok...she's my soul...my heart..."

Donavon hugged his mom softly and smiled "im really happy mom...please I love her and she will make an incredible queen. A better Royal then I hope to be...please love and accept her..."

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments April sighed softly, enjoying hearing nice things about her. However when he spoke about being smitten, she blushed, curling up tighter against him. "I didn't know I could make people pass out… I shouldn't have smiled. That's dangerous…" She teased. "I never knew I was so admired by anybody… it's almost… too sweet to even imagine." She said honestly, wrapping a strand of her hair around her finger and then unwinding it again. "That was a good play though… I enjoyed dancing in it."

Maria nodded, coming back to sit by her on the blankets. "I love him. I do, I really do, and Jenn is such a sweet girl I doubt anyone could help but love her." she admitted. "As for gypsy names, well there are many that embody beauty and grace. Lyra is a popular one, for example." she offered. "It is akin to the name of our favourite instrument, the lyre."
Habi took the mush, thanking Thomas. "I will try my best." he said, his voice tense. he grabbed his son's hand and flipped it over, smearing some of the concoction on the sting there, and then lifted his chin, smearing some more on his neck. "Breathe Mani, I'll need you to help if she wakes up." he insisted, setting down the bowl of green medicine and getting right to work on undressing Jenn so he could assess her injuries and start dressing all the stings. "Both of you, help me smear this on any sting you can find. We can not leave one. Even one sting is enough to kill a child." he insisted, already working. Jenn was still unconscious, but she was starting to stir, her forehead wrinkling in apparent pain.

Lydia nodded, hugging her son back. "I am happy for you both, Donavon. And I'm sure she and I will grow closer too. I promise I will be open." She vowed, looking up at him. "Did you speak to her about a vacation?" She inquired, knowing that she and James would have to take the throne again during their break, and she wanted to know when she would have to be working.

McKensie (that-one-girl) | 5564 comments Topher kissed her head and took her hand kissibg it "oh look it is starting to snow...look how lovely it is darling." He mused and stroke her hair "I should get you home your doctor sister is probably worried sick...plus if she finds out it was me keeping you out if be afraid if what she could do." He teased and helped her up carefully kissing her hand as he led her back out to the automobile.

Jackie pondered this and bit her thumbnail thinking about it "how about Myra...but instead of the L it's an M, to represent the incredibke woman that delivered her into the world." She squeezed Maria's hand really wanting to make friends with her and show her that she was welcome with the family "Mmm I like it..." She said kissibg the littke head "where is my husband? I thought he'd run in the minute he heard her first cry."
Mani nodded trying to focus but one of the stings was tricky, hardly visible and he just felt drowsy. He helped cover her in what he considered green gloop and swallowed "she's waking up dad..." He steoke her hair trying to keep her calm "I've got you...I won't let you die..."

Donavon shrugged "a short vacation this weekend and of course our honeymoon but she'll have to decide the latter." He explained and straightened his shoulders "Joyella was kissing Prince Renold...in public eyes." He felt very unconfortabke seeing that, she was his baby sister!

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments April looked up and out the window. So winter was finally on their doorstep. "It's beautiful." She whispered, standing with him and regretting that the evening had to be over so soon. She had actually been enjoying herself, but she knew he was right. There was no way her sister would be happy if she was out too long, and that was the only reason she didn't protest. "Thank you for putting up with me this long." She said, smiling as they got in the automobile and she strapped herself in. "And for taking me to that lovely restaurant, and back to your house. Your brother really is sweet." She commented.

Maria's smile was emotional, as she was clearly touched. "That would be a lovely name." She said softly, smiling. "I'm honoured to be her name inspiration." She looked around the tent, noticing too that Sampson wasn't there yet. "I'll go fetch that man of yours." She promised. "Will be back in a second." She left the tent and found Sampson bustling around outside. "Your wife has given birth, and wishes to see you." She said. Sampson looked up, shocked and thrilled all at once and he immediately headed back for the tent. "Oh wonderful! Finally some good news." He shook his head, going to Jackie and beaming when he saw the child. "Oh… aren't they just perfect!"
Habi's frown of concentration grew deeper and his jaw clenched. "Try to keep her still and calm." He said, putting away the medicine once all the stings had been found. "She'll need two bones reset, and four or five stitches in her shoulder." He said, pulling over the needle and thread and cast material. Holding her leg, he quickly snapped the ankle back in place, and sufficient to say, that was enough to wake Jenn up and she jolted, crying out.

Lydia nodded slowly, clearly marking down those dates in her mind. "Alright. Your father and I will hold up the fort here." She promised, sitting down again in her chair by the fire. She didn't seem all that surprised by the news of Joyella, and really, she wasn't. After all, Joyella had already told her. "She is betrothed to him, Donavon, this is to be expected, it's better that she likes him, is it not?"

McKensie (that-one-girl) | 5564 comments Topher smiled softly and caught a snowflake on his tongue as he helped her buckle up "im glad you enjoyed it as much as I did...the food was superb but the company even better...thank you for dancing with me and loving Rags...it's just those little things about why I love you so much...you have a heart of pure gold and a smile that could rival the sun..." He kissed her softly and drive to her apartment. Brooklyn and Matthew were making out on the front porch "well...looks like she wasn't ip all night fretting..." He teased and honked the horn to get their attention. Brook jumped around nervously and then saw April and waved helping her out of the car "I thought you were hone! If I'd have come home and you weren't there is have a heart attack April!"

Jackie smiled up at her husband "hey there handsone one..," she tugged him down to the furs with her "this is Myra...Myra this is your daddy..." She passed the bundle to him and lay back her whole body aching and she was starting to feel those stitches now "where's Calder?..." She asked worried about her son. Now she had two sailors to fret over...she tucked the blanket more securely around her daughter "it's gotten cold..."
Thomas gripped her hand and kept her still "honey it's ok...Jen it's daddy ok? Just hold on baby girl I promise you it'll stop hurting..." He whispered trying to keep her distracted, Mani felt like he was going to be sick he quickly left the tent and ran to the stream to wash his face. Getting there though the effects of the sting started to take place and he collasped.

Abby woke up bright and early ready to start the day, she rushed to get ready never having so much energy. Knocking on Joyella's door she frowned as she saw Renold's boots opening the door more she gasped seeing them in bed together "Joy!" She said shocked not even knowing that their relationship was that...intense! Ren quickly stumbled out of bed "it's...uh...not what it looks like...I mean it is...oh please pleae don't give me away!"

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments April flushed, dipping her head a little. "I'm glad you love me for me, for that's who I am. I like the little things." She admitted, glancing out the window as they drove up to her apartment. She gasped in shock, not expecting that at all, her twin, very clearly making out with that man… Matthew it must be. She hand't gone near to as far with Topher yet, and it was mildly shocking. April climbed out of the car, and smiled lightly. "I doubt you would have noticed my absence, what with you and Matthew here enjoying yourselves." She said, smiling courteously to Matthew who nodded and smiled back at her, not ashamed to stand by Brooklyn's side.
April turned back and waved at Topher. "Thank you for the absolutely lovely evening, and hopefully we can see each other soon!" she smiled at him, and then ducked into the house, blushing as she retreated to her room.
Matthew rubbed the back of his neck. "I guess she was upset at finding us like that… I suppose… suppose I should go…"

Sampson sat beside her, cradling the small bundle in his arms. "Oh…." he breathed, stroking her cheek. "she's the sweetest little thing…" he shook his head. "Calder is in the next tent over, with Thomas." he assured, knowing that now was probably not the time to tell her about Jenn. "Are you alright, love?" he asked, looking over to her. "You did an absolutely amazing job." he reassured.
Habi gently wrapped the cast like bandages around her ankle to keep it from going out of place again. "I'm just giving you a big bandaid, Jenn, to help you get better." he reassured.
Jenn was somewhat panicking, because she was in so much pain. She gripped her father, not understanding why he was holding her down, nor why she was covered in green paste. "Where's Mani? Why does everything hurt?" she whimpered. When Habi gently took her elbow and prepared to put that back in place too and Jenn's eyes went wide. "No! No it hurts! No don't touch it! Please!" She begged, crying. "Daddy don't let him touch it!" She begged, trying to get away.
One of the elders had been washing clothes and saw Mani collapse. Rushing over, he scooped the boy up and carried him back to his tent, laying him down on the rugs. He noticed the stings, and noticed the swelling, and administered the dose gypsies use for allergies.

Joyella jerked awake to the sound of her name, torn out of blissful dreams, and she looked around sleepily, taking a moment to remember what had happened. There was Ren, denying something… typical. Then it hit her. They had… she had… last night…. She paled and pulled the sheets around her. "Ren go out the servant's entrance and ride around the west side, no one will see you leave." She advised, mowing that if she ever wanted to see him again, this couldn't be found out. It was highly forbidden. She didn't even really know how it had happened last night, she had been so dazed… "Abby…" She whispered, not quite sure what to say.

McKensie (that-one-girl) | 5564 comments Topher smiled and nodded "I'll see you tomorrow love, have a good night and it's good to meet you Brooklyn...and Brooklyn's suitor." he chuckled and kissed her cheek and nuzzled her neck. As he got back into the car and drove back to the home and knocked on Joshua's door "Hey kiddo...sorry about that, now tell me all about school and all of your new friends." he rubbed his back smiling "Don't pretend your asleep Josh..."

Brooklyn tugged his collar back to her and kissed him softly "I'll see you tomorrow alright...don't worry ok? April isn't as innocent as she seems...I love you Matthew Grey Parker..." she whispered and smiled squeezing his hand and heading inside with her sister "So who should go first? Which had the hottest date darling? I like your little stray dog, he's a smitten kitten over you." she got dressed and crawled into bed "Come on I'm not sleeping alone, and you won't let me stay with Matthew."

Jackie smiled "A few battle wounds to show for it but i'm fine...Maria was perfect, she did everything clinically and got me through it. I really like her Sampson she's so great for Thomas and little Jen, and he loves her...Sampson what's going on...you aren't here with me, you...are a million miles away.
Thomas held her tightly as Habi popped her elbow back in place, her screams and cries weakened him to the man that he was the night Sada died "It's all over honey...you'll get big bandages and get to rest ok?...It's ok..." he covered her up with the blankets and just stayed at her side stroking her hair "You'll be ok..."

Mani's heart was beating too fast for his body, his throat was swelled shut and he started to get black circles around his eyes from the swelling in his brain. His hands were trembling along with his legs.

Ren leaned in and kissed her quick "I'll see you later my rose..." he caressed her cheek and then quickly got dressed and bolted glad that most sane people were asleep at this hour as he rode to the mansion.
Abby was shocked and shook her head "I just..." she shook her head again feeling hurt that Joy didn't tell her that they were together. She missed everything and she was losing her best friend to a prince. She walked out of the room tears streaming down her face as she rushed to the garden gazebo and curled up in the swing.

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Joshua opened one eye when his brother came back and he smiled, sitting up a little. "It's ok. It was nice meeting her. She smells like vanilla." he said brightly, petting Rags who was asleep on his lap. "My teacher is really nice, and so are all the other kids. I met so many people I don't know how I'll remember all their names!" He said honestly. "And we're learning to write… with actual pencils and pens!" He said, thrilled.

Matthew chuckled, kissing her back and then taking his leave, waving goodbye and disappearing as well.
April looked up when her sister entered the room, and she smiled lightly, patting the spot beside her. "You can stay here tonight." she agreed, shrugging. "Topher is very sweet." She admitted, shrugging. "He took me to a restaurant after the performance today, and then we went to his house to check on his brother, and he made us both hot chocolate." she explained. "And I think he's cuter than Matthew, but do tell the events that lead up to that scene on the porch." she said, tucking under the covers.

Sampson smiled lightly, truly happy that she was alright. "I'm glad to see my brother happy again." He admitted. "He was in such a rut after…" He shook his head. "Anyways… I'm glad you're alright, and if you need anything, don't hesitate to ask for it." he insisted. Then he sighed, looking up at the top of the canvas tent. "Jenn fell out of a tree moments ago, and they're fixing her up now."
Jenn couldn't understand why they were hurting her, why her own father was restraining her, and she shrieked and cried as Habi fixed her arm, and then stitched up her shoulder. He was as gentle as he could, but well…. stitching and popping things into place isn't painless. Once everything was bandaged up and cared for, he smiled gently at Thomas and left to go find his son.
Jenn lay sobbing on the table, her face tucked into her father's shirt. She was shaking from the trauma like someone with the extreme chills might, and she had a death grip on a scrap of his shirt. Everything hurt, and she didn't know where Mani was. "Am I dying? What happened?" She asked softly. "Everything hurts, Daddy."

Habi found Mani at last in the elder's tent, and he startled at the sight of his boy on the mats doing so poorly. He immediately got out the medicine for his allergy, hooking it up to the needle and inserting it. "Come on." he whispered, hoping it wasn't too late. "Come on, Mani, fight it. Jennifer needs you, I need you." he whispered, not understanding how all the bee venom hadn't been drawn out by the leaves.

Joyella smiled lightly as Ren kissed her and dashed out the door. She was still rather dazed, and actually quite frightened by how quickly everything had escalated. She certainly had never planned to do something like that… and she wasn't quite sure how she ever agreed to it. But watching her best friend run off was probably the most painful thing she had ever experienced. "Abby!" she called, but it was too late, and she was left in the bed with unshed tears in her eyes.

Reece was already up, and had been up for a few hours, trimming hedges and planting and watering flowers. He saw Abby run into the gazebo in the garden, and he put down his shovel, dusted his hands, and walked inside. She looked like she had been crying, and he wasn't sure if he should ask about it, or leave her alone, but he decided to at least say hi. "Abby." he called softly, his smile bright. "Hi again… is there anything I can help you with?" he asked politely, wondering if she needed anything.

McKensie (that-one-girl) | 5564 comments Topher chuckled and played with his curls curling up near his brother "I took her to that spot near the docks you spoke about kiddo...and we kissed. Not sure it was true love's kiss but it was rather special to me..." He admitted and grinned hearing about school "any boys you are getting close to? Pencils and pens?! Goodness you are growing up! We'll have to practice your penmanship. So are you glad you are going?"

Brooklyn gasped "oh how romantic and sweet! I love how careful he is with you, like your a tiny bird he is teaching how to fly...it's so romantic." She mused and giggled "matthew is far cuter, more educated and well off!" She argued higging the pillow "he helped me study for my final boards test and we had a picnic in the lab and the kissibg escalated to me having an unbuttoned shirt, I heard someone in the hall though so we stopped...imagine losing my virginity in the science lab!"

Jackie gasped worried "just a scraped knee or elbow right?..." She asked converned about her favorite neicr. They were so happy talking about Maria and the love they shared. If something happened to Jenn none of it would matter!
Thomas held her close his own heart shattered at how traumatized she was. He curled her up closr and pecked her forehead "all over...you aren't going to die honey you won't...just have very big owies...don't think about thrn. Do you want me to tell you some stories?"

Mani started coming to gasping and wheezing for a strong breath of air, he seized slightly and then just went to sleep peavefully. The elder showed him the bite he missed "those yellow jackets have enough venum to kill a grown man...we took care of the hive no one else will get stung.

Abby looked up as she heard his voice, she sniffed drying her eyes "it's stupid Reece you don't want to hear the small dramas..." She closed her eyes trying to erase the images "other people don't think they matter..."

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Joshua's face lit up and he grinned. "I knew it would work!" he said, clearly thrilled. He closed his eyes, daydreaming. "Then you can marry her and we'll live happily ever after in a castle." he said, as if that was clearly the most logical conclusion. "I met Jacob, Matt and Caleb today, all of them were very nice. I am happy I'm going. I'm just happy the first day wasn't so scary." he admitted.

April blushed, imagining herself as a bird. Topher had likened her to something of the sort. "He is sweet… and romantic." She agreed, propping her head up on her hand so she could listen intently as her sister told of her time. "Brook! What if someone had seen!?" She asked, shaking her head, one eyebrow raised. "Must you always test the limits of socially acceptable? You've only been on two dates!" She grinned at her sister and lay back down. "Do you think they love us?"

Sampson exhaled, shaking his head. "No… she broke her ankle and dislocated an elbow, and was stung nearly a bazillion times by yellow jackets." He said honestly. "But she'll live, and she'll walk and run and play again, it'll just take some time to recover. "
Jenn tried not to think about her injuries, she really did… but it was so hard when they hurt so badly. So she just curled up in her fathers arms and nodded slowly. "Tell me a story, Papa, please." She agreed, wanting to take her mind off the hurt she felt. She always loved her fathers stories.

Thomas breathed a sigh of relief, brushing back his son's hair and draping a blanket over his sleeping body. "Thank you for taking care of the hive." he said, turning to the elder. "and for finding my boy. You saved his life." he said, his gratitude clear. "I don't know what I would do without my son…" he cradled him closely.

Reece leaned against the wall near the swing, assessing her body language and tone. If he could read people well enough, and he was pretty confident, then he saw a hurt girl in desperate need of a friend. "Well I think that they do." he said, coming over to sit on the large swing beside her, carefully draping an arm about her shoulders. "You can tell me if you wish. I'm here to talk to." he promised, knowing he just wanted to be there for her.

McKensie (that-one-girl) | 5564 comments Topher chuckled "we won't live in a castle and marriage is far away...I have to court her first, get to know her and then maybe...MAYBE after that I will propose." He poked his brother's nose "you'll have to bring them by after school have a play date or something." He pulled the blankets around them both "im glad your happy kid...who knew our lives would turn out for the better?" He flicked his nose and grinned "love you Josh. Don't ever forget that, I'll have to keep reminding you!" He tickled him playfully.

Brooklyn smiled "no one goes in there and well when you get to that point it's very hard to keep your clothes on." She said honestly with a shrug of her shoulder and smiled "two grandiose dates, I see him everyday at lunch and he walks with me to class...I love him and im sure he feels the same...I just, I just feel good around him you know? He makes me feel beautiful and amazing...not just because I'm smart...ever felt like that? Does Topher do that for you? He better or I'll kick his arse..." She mumbled laying down on the pillow.

Jackie covered her mouth and shuddered a sob "oh my gosh...no...poor little Angel..." She whispered shocked and held onto Myra closer "how is Thomas handling it?...is he alright, did Maria go and see him? He can't be alone right now...you know thats when he starts to go depressed is when he feels like he's alone..."
Thomas held her close swallowing his shuddering tears as he told her, her favorite story of the little mermaid that list her voice and found a prince. But his version always ended up good with immense story telling detail. He steoke her long dark hair and sighed "I wish I could ease the pain princess..." He whispered once she was asleep.

The Elder nodded and left him alone to be with the resting boy, he didn't want to tell Habi that side effects might happen as the boy awakes. It would take a miracle for him to walk away from this without any defects. But he was a spiritual man and so he got the whole clan to pray for the two children.

Abby curked up against him and started to cry "im losing my best friend to a boy...I found them in bed this morning...I didn't even know she had her first kiss and then I saw that! I...she doesn't care for me like she used to, im just a burden...to everyone. Sometimes I wish I just stayed in the ice being petrified and frozen in time...just a lovely memory..."

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Joshua curled up near his brother, closing his eyes contentedly. "I always knew we'd get a happy ending, and now we get a new beginning too." He mumbled, starting to drift off. "I love you too Topher." he said, falling asleep then and there. Just as he always did, he dreamed, but this time, he didn't dream wishful thoughts about a nicer place, as he already had one, and he slept with a smile on his face.

April nodded, contemplating that. It sure sounded like love, and her sister definitely looked in love. So maybe she had finally found a man for herself that she could truly love. April shrugged lightly and then thought about it for a minute. "He makes me feel truly appreciated for the first time in my life." She admitted. "All the other men have only liked me for my body, and I feel that he can really see what I'm hiding inside… and I don't know… maybe you're right… maybe he is teaching me how to fly." She said, tucking herself under the covers and laying back.

Sampson nodded, wrapping his arms around her and their daughter. "He's staying with her currently. I'm pretty sure Maria headed in that direction, but I'm not entirely sure." He admitted, kissing her hair and then just resting his chin there. "I hope they're all right. That family has really had a rough time."
Maria had been waiting at the tent, not wanting to intrude on such a stress filled moment, and yet waiting for a good time to walk over. When Jenn fell asleep, she found that moment, and she walked up to Thomas, wrapping her arms around him and kissing his temple. "You saved her life, Thomas, getting her back here so quickly." She whispered.

Habi sat by his boy and stood guard over him, telling him stories even though he was unconscious, making sure he was kept warm and comfortable, and sometimes adding new paste to the stings. "Get better soon my gemstone. You are the most precious thing in my life." he murmured, not ever moving from his spot beside his son.

Reece was a little surprised by that, but not entirely. He knew of Princess Joyella's betrothal to Prince Renold, and therefore he, like most, expected there to be a little of that before their wedding, but certainly not that much, it was highly looked down upon, and as it was, Abby was risking a lot by even telling him. He hugged her, rubbing her shoulders comfortingly. "I'm sure that came as quite a shock." He whispered after a moment. "Do you know if this is a recent thing? It can't have been very long if you had heard nothing of it. Gossip does spread fast around the palace." His lips quirked up, trying to lighten the mood.

McKensie (that-one-girl) | 5564 comments Topher was amazed at his brother, through all of this he stayed so optimistic so hopeful. He never complained once and he always saw the bright side of thibgs. Kissing his head he rested comfortably in their warm bed dreaming of dancing with April, closely their heartbeats as one. He smiled softly wondering how he ever got so fortunate in a short time.

Brooklyn pecked her sister's cheek "get some sleep, you'll see your tarnished knight in shining armor in the morning. Me, I have a corpse to practice on and lunch plans with my beau...oh! I forgot to tell you, Matthew is designing the new theater, they are tearing down the old one isn't that marvelous? He has such great ideas for it!"

Jackie agreed and nuzzled her little girl before placing her in the bassinet and lay down near her husband "are we still planning on seeing your father? I don't wsnt to leave until I know that Jenn is ok,.." She insisted and bit the inside of her mouth "where's Calder?.,,where's my boy?" She asked starting to get panicked her deep brown eyes looking around anxiously.
Thomas leaned back into her arms and let the tears escape "I am so scared my love...she's so hurt and I couldn't ease any of it...just wanted Mani...why couldn't I save her from this?..."

Rachelle entered the tent timidly with hot tea and broth "thought you might be needing this...you should rest Habi. I will keep watch over the boy. Afterall it is my father's tent." She saw the look he gave her and shook her head "I am serious, I will alert you if there is any change...please eat and rest, gain your strength..."

Abby smiled softly and nuzzled him "I bet that we can stay out of the gossip...my sister and Donavon know but that is it. They are both pleased with it...because I'm happy again...you did that Reece you put me back in the sun...cultivating and caring for me like a withering shy violet..."

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments April's smile was somewhat amused as she lay back and pulled the blanket up. "Corpses sound mighty exciting." She teased, shaking her head and curling up, preparing to go to sleep. Then she nearly bolted right up again. "A new theatre?" She gasped. She wasn't sure how she felt. A nicer theatre would be amazing… but it would be sad to say goodbye to the old one… "That's wonderful that he's taken on such an extensive job. It certainly is a cultural one, and a fun one to pursue."

Sampson nodded, watching as she stood and put their little girl down to nap. He then cradled his wife in his arms and lay back beside her, enjoying a moment of peace and rest. "Yes, that is the plan." He assured, pointing to the tent where a head was poking through the flap. "Mama?" Calder asked, stepping inside. "Have you had the baby? What's happened? Jenn fell out of a tree…"
Maria stroked his hair gently, kissing his temple and then just holding him, breathing, hoping to help comfort him in some way. For she knew that this was just as much hurtful for him, as it had been for Jenn. Maybe more so. "She wouldn't have fallen asleep at all, poor thing, if it hadn't been for you." She whispered. "Your daughter adores you, and Mani wouldn't have been able to keep her quiet. Pain is a very scary thing to a child, and to grown ups as well."

Habi looked up, clearly not liking the idea of leaving his son. But he couldn't argue with her logic, nor did he have the physical or emotional ability to argue at that moment, so he silently took the broth and tea and moved back a little from his son, letting her sit by him. He ate silently, noting how good food suddenly was, since he hadn't had any in a while. Then he leaned back and closed his eyes, not sleeping, but resting.

Reece's smile was huge. He hadn't even known that he had had that sort of effect on her. He had hoped that he could help her, but he had never guessed that he would be that effective. "I'm glad to hear that," he whispered, kissing the top of her head. "I hate to see you sad… and i really do wish I could see that smile of yours more often…" he squeezed her hand. "Think you can do that for me?"

He did a brilliant job on the bay bridge and so many couples take their engagement photos there...but he has talent and so much vision I hate to see it wasted on bridges..." She admitted tugging the blanket up "alright miss chatterbox time for bed..." She mused yawning as she took off her glasses and pressed down into the pillow.

The next morning Topher got Joshua ready for school again placing his own hat on his brother's curls "there, you look mighty handsome now. A chipoff of the block." He slugged his arm softly and lovinly as he dropped him off to school. Stopping by the floral shop he bought a simple bouquet and knocked on April's door as Brokklyn rushed out "good morning miss Brooklyn." She turned her head confused obviously in a hurry "what? Yes! Goodbye!"

Jackie sighrd in relief and smiled "you have a new littke sister, Calder meet Myra..." She said morioning to the sleeping bundle in the bassinet "try not to wake her ok?...she's very tired had a long journey to get here you know." She snuggked in her husband'a arns and sighed contently "don't move muscle..." She mumbled before drifting off her body drained from the long day.
Thomas kissed her softly and nuzzled her "thank you my darling..." He said sincerely and curled up in her arms just needing that support. "She's so hurt...what if she'll never be the same? She's anacrive girl, our little nature princess...how can she do all she loves laying in bed all day in pain?" He asked seriously looking up at her with helpless eyes.

Rachelle felt content as he filled his empty belly and rested, she watched over the boy as she promised always having a hand on him. She believed a loving touch would heal him.she loved this boy and his father...Habi Justin was a complicated situation she had been in love with him since they were Jenn's and Mani's age. But he chose Allura and that was that. She never found a man and she worked for her father the elder to keep her place in the tribe. Without a husband at her age she was seen by the men and women as a burden, useless almost. She was still young and yet they silently shun her from the circle. Her role was to marry,'make babies, sew and cook. Well she managed two of the four.

Abby smiled and leaned im close kissibg his lips caregully and hesistantly "with you around...there is more reason to smile...I'll try to never have a frown." She promised and nuzzled his chest "Mmm I love how you smell like nature...wish I could just carry it with me when I'm away from you..,"

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Matthew was already at University, and was heading to his last class. Architecture finished a semester into that year, so he would get off just before Christmas. He saw Brook run in and smiled at her, knowing she was in a rush so he didn't want to keep her waiting. "See you at lunch!" he said, putting his bag over his shoulder and starting towards his class.

April had gotten up a little after Brook, making breakfast and coffee, which she was in the middle of when someone knocked on the door. Getting up, she followed Brook to the door and found Topher standing there… with flowers. "Oh!" She beamed. "Let's get those in some water… come in, come in!" She ushered him inside and moved through the kitchen, getting out a vase and filling it with water. She set it on the table then, smiling at him. "To what do I owe this pleasant surprise?"

Calder smiled, reaching in to hold his new baby sister's hand as his mother fell asleep against his father. "She's so small…" he whispered. Sampson nodded, trying not to move too much so Jackie could rest. "She is, isn't she?" He asked, smiling gently. He was so proud of his family.
Maria hugged him, resting with him beside Jenn who was still sleeping. "She should heal." She said. "Habi said that she should get better. For the couple of weeks that she is bed ridden, yes… she'll probably be bored and lonely. But she has a wonderful family to take care of her." She reminded. "I'm sure we'll be able to make it as easy for her as possible, until she is better again."

Habi woke again a few hours later, starting upwards and looking around in shock. He glanced at Rachel and around the room, angry at himself for actually falling asleep. His boy needed him. "How long was I asleep for? And how is Mani doing?" he asked, clearly worried as he pulled himself to his knees.

Reece chuckled, kissing her back and then looking down into those deep eyes of hers. "I'm glad." He whispered, kissing the top of her head. "I did give you a flower. It smells like earth. Maybe it'll make your room smell nicer." He offered, smiling. Her words were so touching and sweet that he found himself unable not to smile.

McKensie (that-one-girl) | 5564 comments Brooklyn quickly rushed over and pecked his lips before sprinting to her anatomy class. She sat down as the last bell rang and let out a breath of air as the professor drawled on about anatomy and the dark ages when there were so many lies about it. Brooklyn tapped her pen impatiently thinking to herself, if things were wrong back then...what if they were wrong now. She started to sketch out ideas wishing she could share them with someone.

Topher smiled softly "does there have to be an occasion to treat the woman I love?" He offered and helped her fill up the case and placed the flowers in them "looks like you are using your crutch less and less." He mused and pecked her cheek as he helped her sit down "so I have an idea and you may say yes or no...as always but, I was watching those little girls watch the performance the other night and I thought about you...how would you like to become a dance teacher? Teach these little girls to become ballerinas until you are ready to dance professionally. What do you think? It keeps you away from Sam." He reminded with a sly smile.

Thomas nodded and held her closer stroking her arm and laced her fingers with his and nuzzled her cheek "thank you for being my anchor Maria...I wouldn't be able to handle this without you..." He watched his daughter and sighed "she seems to be out of pain when she rests..." He mused and squeezed her small good hand "im surprised Mani isn't by her side...they never are without each other."

Rachelle put a hand up to silence him as she gave a smile motioning to the restful boy "his fever is gone...he woke up and spoke...he is responsive, I feel like no damage went to mind or heart...you needed rest don't blame yourself," she said seriously and moved so he could sit by him "I bathed his wounds in warm oil and they are healing...I will leave you be." She said bowing and leaving the tent without hesitation.

Abby smiled and nodded "that's true..." She reached into his pocket and took his bandana and brought it to her face and slowly inhaled it "this is you...I believe I will keep this." She teased and rested her head on his shoulder "im going on holiday to Paris for a few months,
Mother thinks that the vacation will do me well...but how can I be without you?"

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Mike was a kid in the same class as Brooklyn, who was learning to become a physio therapist. He slid over to her, smiling at her. She was such a sweet student, and he felt bad that all the other students sent glares in her direction. "Hey…" He started, glancing at her notebook. "What are you sketching?" He asked, genuinely interested. He knew she had good ideas.

April flushed and glanced down, her smile huge. "thank you." She sat down where he guided her, nodding. "My ankle's gotten better and better." She looked at him, listening intently as he explained his idea and she nodded, thinking it was a good idea as well. "I think that's a brilliant idea, Topher." she took his hand and squeezed it. "And I think it's cute, you not wanting me around Sam." She teased, her eyes twinkling. After a moment of silence she sobered. "I… I was with him I suppose, for almost a year now Topher… he'll not want it to end so suddenly." She wasn't sure who to explain what her and Sam's relationship had been, if one could even call it that.

Maria blushed and she smiled, pecking his cheek. "Thank you love. I'm glad I can help you out a bit." She said honestly, squeezing his hand. "I love you, and you do so much for me, it's only fair I return the favour." She looked to little Jenn and her smile turned thoughtful. "Yes, those two do seem quite inseparable. I believe Mani is currently resting in the next tent over. He's allergic to bees and he got stung. He's fine now, don't worry, just resting."

Habi felt all the tension leave him in a rush and he breathed a sigh of relief. "Thank you." He said, meaning it very much. She had taken care of his boy, and now he was getting better. He moved over to Mani, looking down at his son. The poor kid. So much to go through in one day. "Sleep well, Mani." He whispered, wondering how Jenn was doing.

Reece chuckled, letting her fish in his pocket and pull out his bandana. "Alright, you can have it. I have another at home." he smiled, rocking the swing slightly and just looking out at the garden. "Paris?" he repeated. "I'm sure a vacation and some sun would be very good for you. But I will miss you, here in cold old London. Bring me back some sunshine, love, ok?"

Joyella had gotten dressed and fixed up her hair, and was trying very very hard to conceal what had happened last night. Of course there was a matter of bribing the maids who cleaned up the sheets, and then making sure the room was cleaned to perfection. Then her own makeup and clothes and hair. Now she had only to hope that her parents or Donavon would not notice.

McKensie (that-one-girl) | 5564 comments Brooklyn looked over at Mike and smiled, he was a really good guy and one of the best students "I was just thinking...what if we could somehow revive a corpses heart, and replace a live heart with this heart. People with heart failure could be off the medications and wouldn't need to be on heavy bedrest, they could restart their lives...I know it is very dr. Frankenstein but.. What if it could work?"

Topher bit his lip uncomfortably "I don't trust him April...he's not a good guy and he could really hurt you..." He said nervously "you only saw eachother at the theater anyways, if you left the theater he would find a new dancer to list after and leave you alone..." He said determinedly and sat by her "but whatever happens I'll protect you from him...I'll protect you from anything." He assured her and kissed her temple.

Thomas frowned worried for the boy "that's not good..." He then was thoughtful "he probably had known he was allergic and he still risked it...incredible...he loves her, he wanted to protect her not caring about his own safety..." He needed to do something for the boy to thank him "what could I bring him that he would enjoy? You know the boy better then I do..." He curled up in the furs watching the fire and his love "did Jackie have the baby? I mean obviously she did or you wouldn't be here...are they both ok?"

Rachelle sat by the fire just watching the enchanting flames, she had so much on her mind. The boy...Habi...he was a good kind man and she cared for him immensely. So much it hurt her heart to be around him. He chose his wife and that was that. They were still dear friends but..she wanted more, she wanted him to see her the way men look at their wonan. With protection and passion...she wanted to be loved.

Abby nodded and nuzzled him "I'll weite often, I'd say every night but you would get bored easily..." She played with his strong sun tanned hands "I would rather be with you in the cold...how could you have changed my life so drastically Reece? I...I can't go a day without thinking of you and we've known eachother three days...probably pathetic, the Rich spoiled invalid duchess falling for the strong handsone artistic gardener...some would say I've gone crazy..."

Donavon knocked on her door with a smile "you werent at breakfast I was concerned..." He blinkef looking at the empty bed "my word...what happened here?" The maids never cleaned the sheets like this. They had them replaced before they ever noticed "Sir Renold is waiting for you in the ballroom. He's very handsome, grew to be a good lad wouldn't you say?"

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Mike scratched his chin for a moment clearly thinking thoughtfully about her proposition. "A very morbid topic," He teased, "But I'll entertain it for a moment." he started scratching down sketches and equations, before thinking a moment more. "If the corpse is not long dead, you wouldn't have to revive the heart at all, you could simply transfer it from the corpse into the patient, and have them receive the new heart. Given, it would have to be a healthy strong heart, and it is rather risky. But it might be worth a shot." He agreed, nodding slowly.

April nodded, not disagreeing with that. She saw it now, what Sam really was below the charm and the good looks. "Sometimes I feel I am gullible to a charming smile." She said honestly, tucking herself against him and just relaxing. It was good to talk openly with someone about the things she had hidden for so long. Especially with someone whom she knew would protect her. "And I think Sam knew that, and took advantage of how horribly naive I am, and how I am a horrible judge of a man's character." She admitted.

Maria nodded, not denying that. "He's really set on defending that girl." She said softly, thinking it sweet, and ever so wonderful to see two young people so devoted to each other, and for no reason beyond that they valued each other's company. They were too young yet to even understand the meaning of lust. "Mani is a musical boy… but he carves his own lyres. He might enjoy a pipe, or a flute, or some other instrument to learn. Gypsies love music, but we only ever master the lyre." She explained. "He might also enjoy cranberry cakes, but if I were you, I'd ask Jenn to make those for you." She teased, leaning into him and relaxing. "Jackie had the baby." She confirmed. "And she named her Myra. A gypsy name with the m from my name. They're both doing wonderful. Jackie delivered easily with only some tearing. She's resting now."

Habi wouldn't leave his boy alone, but he was incredibly thankful to Rachelle for watching him while he rested, so he sent a young boy with a gift of wrapped cheese (a rarity among the gypsies) to her tent. The boy peeked inside and smiled brightly, walking up to Rachelle. "Hi Rachelle!" he handed her the cheese, beaming. "This is from Habi… he says thank you." he grinned, looking very proud of himself.

Reece laughed softly, looking down at his hands as she played with them. Her own were so delicate and pale, he wished he could just gather them up and warm them, bring some life back to her again. "Must be love." he whispered, kissing her cheek. "If you're crazy, then I'm afraid I am too." he bumped his nose against hers.
Someone cleared their throat from the entrance of the gazebo and Reece leapt to his feet, springing away from her, his face ashen.
The stern looking man's face darkened. "We took a chance, hiring you, boy." he looked between Reece's lowered face, and Abby. "I can see it was a mistake. You can choose the post or submit your letters of resignation."
Reece didn't look up. "The post, sir." It wasn't a choice. He couldn't leave his mother without an income.
The magistrate nodded, turning to go, "Five O'clock, Matthews." he said, disappearing again to complete his other duties.

Joyella nearly jumped when someone knocked on the door and came in. She told her nervous heart to calm and stop being so jittery as she smiled at Donavon and tried to act normal again. "I spilled some cosmetics." She said quickly, busying herself so he wouldn't see the tell tale signs of her lies. She blushed heavily at his mention of Renold, and grew even more nervous. "Yes… yes he has." she said softly, adding a strand of pearls around her neck. "Well… I should go then…" She tried to slip out the door.

McKensie (that-one-girl) | 5564 comments Brooklyn smiled as the bell rang and handed him all of her sketches and research "you take it to the professor, the minute he sees its from me he will throw it in the trash. Please Mike, I don't care that I don't get the credit I just want to save lives and you've already achieved a clinical trial..." She said biting her lip and looking at him hopefully. Everything she said was true, she knew she didn't have a voice even if she was creating ground breaking research.

Topher nuzzled her hating to see her upset over this, he took her hand and laced the fingers "I think you have a good judge of character...you just wanted to be loved and care for...there isn't one thing wrong with that my love...you deserve to be cared for and treaaured..." He brought her head up for a kiss "and until you tell me to go I'll always be here to remind you of how incredible you are..."

Thomas smilef loving to heaf good things when he felt like his world was falling apart. "I shall make him a pan pipe, it's a very common instrument of the sea. Some believe it is how we communicate with the maiden's of the sea..." He smiled kissibg her hair "I love that you are part of the name...you are one of the family and always will be." He promised and kissed her softly "do you ever want kids?" He asked hoping that the question doesn't scare her off, but it was a real thing for him he wanted many children and that was taken away.

Rachelle looked up shocked and smiled taking the parcel, oh what a treasure! She inhaled the sharp smelling cheese and broke off a tiny piece for the boy "tell him thank you and to meet me by the waterfall...that's for you to eat." She assured the shocked little boy as he went running off. She quickly needed to shower thinking she had plenty of time before he met her at the falls. Only in her white slip and leather corset she bathed loving the feel of the rushing water of the waterfall crash down on her.

Abby was shocked and her heart started to palpitate violently she ran after the magistrate never having ran since the incident her breath was labored as she looked at him scared "you can't hurt him...the minute you touch him my heart will arrest and I'll make sure it is you that is blamed for my ill health...the Royal family will not like that one bit..." She knew she had the upper hand even now she looked like she was going to collaspe at his feet.

Donavon paused noticing the Rush and the nervous behavior of his sister, slowly the pieces came together and he stopped her at the door "you didn't...tell me anything but don't tell me you..." He shpok his head too overwhelmed to say it "you aren't even engaged what if you were with child did you think of that Joy? What will dather say?! He'll have Ren fixed! Joy!" He said frustrated but still trying not to yell.

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Mike looked down at her notes in his hands, his eyes wide. She would do that just for the sake of helping other people? He knew many of the men here would never do that, ever. He admired her for that. "Alright, I'll do it." he vowed, watching as she left at the bell. He took her notes and went to talk to the professor.
Matthew was waiting in restaurant that most uni students went to for lunch break, as he had agreed on meeting Brooklyn here. He was fine with waiting, and was reading to pass time.

April closed her eyes, her heart needing to hear those words. They were exactly what made the world suddenly a hundred times better and a smile lit up her face, wobbling a little as she was touched to the point of being close to tears. She kissed him, and then lay her head on his chest. "I don't deserve you." She whispered. "And don't you dare argue. You are the kindest man I have ever met." She whispered. "If you ever grow tired of me I'll probably still follow you." She smiled lightly. "I suppose that's rather creepy. I promise I'm not creepy." She vowed.

Maria's smile was soft as she closed her eyes, resting against him. She was tired from all the stress of the past few hours, and was enjoying resting here with him. "He'd probably love that." She agreed. "I have only once heard a pan pipe played, but it was a beautiful instrument. Woeful, like the lyre." She was quiet for a moment then, thinking about his question. "I have always wanted children." she admitted, being honest with him. "It was always a dream to be a mother one day. But with my sister passing during childbirth… I have to admit… I'm afraid…" she said softly, hoping he would not be angry with her for that.

Habi was surprised to see the little grinning boy come back, his mouth stuffed with cheese and saying that Rachelle would like to meet him at the waterfall. He shook his head, his smile soft. Rachelle's father was back again, and he vowed to watch Mani and notify him of any change. Habi thanked him and went to the waterfall, where he stopped in his tracks not expecting to see Rachelle, her slip clinging to her as she bathed in the water. Only just now did he how carefree and joyous her smile could be. It was almost something too beautiful to interrupt. But he didn't just want to stand there staring until she saw him, so he cleared his throat rather awkwardly, to alert her of his presence.

The magistrate turned, simply raising his eyebrows at the young girl who was clearly head over heals for this boy.
Reece's eyes widened and he ran up to Abby, his own heart thudding at the predicament of this situation. He could clearly see that Abby was exhausting herself. "Abby… please…" he begged, taking her arms and turning her to face him. "Please, please, you're exerting yourself. Don't hurt me like this… please…" he hated the tears that were gathering in his eyes. "You don't understand he has to do this. I can't be above the rules… I am still the staff… and I need this job… Abby I can't lose this job, this isn't anyone's fault, it's the way it is, it has to happen… please understand." he begged, his voice cracking. He hated that she saw him like this. He had hoped she never would. But she didn't understand. The magistrate couldn't change the rules for one boy, neither could the royals, or anyone. It was the way things were.

Joyella's paled drastically and she backed up, looking clearly shaken. She hated the tone in her brother's voice, the disapproval, the anger, the hurt. It hurt her, and her eyes were wide. "Oh please! Please don't tell Father!" she choked, knowing very well that their father would do just that, and maybe even break off the betrothal and find another man to betroth her too. Her face was the colour of a sheet of paper. "I… I didn't think about… about children…. I wasn't… I wasn't thinking much at all…" She admitted softly.

McKensie (that-one-girl) | 5564 comments Brooklyn smiled and ran to the restaurant, she smiled stopping just to admire how handsome he looked sitting there and reading. She snuck up behind him and kissed his cheek "hi handsome..." She sat on the chair and sipped the water glaf to have a break "how was your last day of school?...so I was thinking, we should go to Ireland for the holidays to be with your family...what do you think?" She took his hand under the table and ran her hand up his leg.

Topher chuckled and tapped her nose "you are adorable not at all creepy and it seems like we'll be stuck with eachother for a long time." He kissed her lips softly but a little more deeply then the soft innocent kisses they had been doing before "I love you April...I just want to be with you..." He admitted and sighed nuzzling her "want to go eat or get a drink?...anything away from a soft surface." He was getting way too tempted she was irrisistable in everyway and not just her body. Her smile and that look in her eyes that made every part of him melt.

Thomas caressed her cheek and smiled "it's ok angel...we can just have Jenn. I don't want you scared...I don't want you to hurt..." He kissed down her shoulder and sighed "do you want me to get you any food? It's getting late and I just want you to rest...it's been an eventful day and you've done a lot for people I want to take care of you now...I heard there's a big storm coming...are we prepared?"

Rachelle gasped and looked over at him "Habi I thought that you would be coming later..." She wrung out her long hair and smiled at him "well now that we are incredibly awkward...I just wanted to thank you for such a nice gift...I haven't had cheese in many seasons...usually I don't receive nice things because of my status..." She cleared her throat moving her hair behind her ear "Habi...if there is anything else I can do?...i...care for you and your son so much..."

Abby clung onto Reece and rested her head on his chest "please...please...I can't...he'll hurt you, and I...I love you and I don't want you hurt because of me...I will leave my status, just run away with me...we can go to Paris and start over no rules or statuses...Reece I can't breathe..." She whispered feeling her heart start to hurt "please there must be something...there must be..."

Donavon sighed and pulled her into his arms "I know Joy, I know you are sorry I love you.,.i won't tell anyone ok? Let's go to the doctor and make sure you are alright and then be safe ok?....Ren can wear protection and you can wait until you are actually engaged...Joyella I haven't even done it, just be careful...do you love him? Do you see the rest of your life with him?"

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Matthew didn't see her until she came up behind him and kissed his cheek and he grinned, putting the book down so he could catch her lips. "Well… it's wonderful to finally be done. I get to work on projects as a fully trained architect now." he smiled. "And what about you love?" he asked, placing his elbows on the table and leaning in to listen to her. "Anything new? You did corpse studies today, right?" he asked, interested in her work. His smile turned into something more of a grin as she suggested a holiday in such a coy manner. "I'm always up for a break, love. Now that I'm done school I'd absolutely love one."

April blushed beet red at his admission, and she knew she shouldn't be this naive, but somehow the idea of it felt different with him, more personal, and less detached, somehow. She stood from the couch, reluctant to leave his arms, but not going to ignore his plea for something to do. "We could make hot cocoa here…" She offered. "Or we could go out and grab a bite to eat. I'm up for either." She offered, glancing outside. It was still a grey day, but not raining, which was nice, especially for London.

Maria sighed softly, shaking her head. "But I don't want to leave you childless either." She whispered, looking up at him. "I'm alright, Thomas, thank you. I snacked before I came over here to see you. I'll be alright." She promised. "Just rest with me. We both deserve some sleep." She said quietly, curling up against him. "The men will go around in a half hour or so, securing the tents. We have strong pegs that we drive into the ground, and rocks to weight down the tents. We have outlasted hurricanes and blizzards. They are scary, yes, but we survive." She promised. "We have methods for staying safe and cozy dry inside our tents."

Habi was blushing, mostly from embarrassment for walking in on her at such a private moment. "I uh… I didn't know you meant to come later…" he mumbled, shifting. He smiled a little though, when she talked about the cheese, and he risked glancing at her, his heart speeding up the moment he did. "I… you're welcome." he slowly sat on the edge of the bank and glanced at her, only for a moment. "Rachelle… you might want to.. uh… to cover up…. or… something…" he stammered. "I don't want to …. look at you… in a manner you might not be happy with." He blushed harder, needing to be honest with her. It surprised him, her comment about caring for him and his son. After all, he was completely oblivious to her affections for him.

Reece shook his head, still holding her shoulders. He leaned his forehead against hers, closing his eyes as a tear escaped and ran down his cheek to splash on his collar. "I won't run, and I won't hide, Abby. You're worth it to me. I promise. He can't hurt me… not now that I have you." He picked her up in his arms, carrying her inside, regardless of what the magistrate said. He'd already be punished, but he needed to know she was safe first. It would be the only way he could bear it. "I can take it, Abby. I'll pay the price to be with you, and you get better so you can ask your parents to court me, ok? I'll talk to them too, but you need their permission first… ok? In a few days… when this is over, then we can announce that we are courting, alright? And it will be honourable, and allowed, and lawful, and everyone else can share in our joy." he lay her on the bed. "Please just rest, please, I need you to do this for me. I need you to get better." he whispered, kissing her forehead. "Please promise Abby. Promise me you'll try."

Joy crumpled in his arms, hugging him tight. She was so afraid, she hadn't thought about children, and she had been scared only moment's ago that her brother was furious with her. "Thank you… I know. I promise. It was dumb not to wait. We'll wait… I'm sorry." She mumbled. She hadn't been aware that her brother hadn't even done it. "He kissed me for the first time yesterday… and… I don't know… I guess it was so nice… and…" She shook her head. "I love him, Donavon, in the strange hate, but worry constantly about that person, kind of way. I can see myself spending every moment forever, with him." She said honestly, looking up at him. "And I'm telling the truth, too."

McKensie (that-one-girl) | 5564 comments Brooklyn beamed so excited for him to start his dreams and passions as a licensed fully trained architect. It gave her goosebumps and she squeezed his hand tightly "you haven't a clue of how proud I am of you love...you've worked so hard and even in the face of trial you still managed to graduate...do you think your brother will be happy?" She just wanted to talk about him, because she knew he'd be disappointed that she gave her clinical trial to Micheal. It would be considered fairly this way though and for some reason all that was on her mind was that story of the young duchess that nearly drowned...everyone mourned that week but, now? Now she was seen as a burden and it wasn't right.

Topher nodded "I have to work the stage at six but I'm free until then." He took her hand pulling her up off the tempting couch and wrapping her jacket securely around her "you want to try just leaning on me as a crutch? The doctor said you should slowly start weaning off...I'll carry you if it gets too bad." He promised and pecked her temple "let's go to that little tea shop you enjoy." Of course he'd go to a pub any minute over that but he wanted to make her happy and if turning into a gentleman accomplished that then he would do whatever it took.

Thomas smiled "I have Jenn and that can be enough for me." He assured and kissed her head snuggling close so that their body heat kept them warm and secure as the storm slowly crept up on them "incredible...the team work and perseverance of your family. Yes at times I think the rules are strict and a littke cruel but you still manage to protect and care for one in another in spite of them..." He was starting to get drowsy being up nearly 48 hours did that to a man especially with the stress he mentally and physically went through. He closed his eyes burying his face in her neck and fell asleep.

Rachelle flushed secretly loving the way he kept looking at her, and yet still being a gentleman and trying to make her comfortable. Their culture was always brutally honest and she slowly walked towards him out of the water like a sea goddess and cupped his face kissing him softly her fingers curling in his long hair "who said that I wasn't pleased?" She whispered and slowly let go so he could get his bearings. The shock on his face was evident and she didn't want to be seen as a concubine to him. It wasn't lust it was love, passionate unbridled love that left her weeping at times wishing she could be freed from it for even a moment of rest.

Abby felt the tears stream down her ashen cheeks as she nodded so touched and scared for the man she loved. She knew she needed help but she didn't want to be trapped in bed when her love would be tortured her grip on his shirt was weakening as she struggled to stay concious "I promise..." She whispered not even being able to revel in the joy that they would tell the world they were courting lawfully and happily. Without him ever paying for it again. Her hand slipped numbly and dropped as she went unconscious.

Donavon sighed running a hand through his hair as he tried to take this all in, it was obvious she was very sorry and he didn't want to punish her further. She was becoming a grown woman and temptation is great when you are with the one you love. He should know it takes every ounce of strength when being around Ella.
