McKensie and Lara III

Jacqueline started to cry leaning into the girl and just sobbing "I don't know what is wrong with me, I get so angry when he saves me...I just want him to treat me like a lady...no not even that I don't know! It's obvious I hurt and anger him but I don't mean to I just don't know how to express my feelings...I love him, and everytime I see him I get scared and try to push him away...I don't want to get hurt..."

Sada held her gently against her, hating to see anyone cry, it tore her sensitive heart, and she just tried to be of some comfort. She nodded along to her story, as it was quite familiar. "I know… we are very similar, you and I." She said softly. "You just want him to treat you as a friend…" She offered, brushing her fingers through Jacqueline's hair. "Maybe he just wants the same?" She offered, starting to braid her hair, a she knew how much she liked her own hair played with. "I know from experience that men have very big, and very fragile egos." She said honestly. "Even the slightest comment or circumstance can crush them much harder than many of us women realize. Maybe he's more affected by your anger than you realize?" She suggested.

Sada smiled, calling good luck after her friend, and then just sitting there, smiling to herself. She liked hearing other people's stories, and helping them on their paths, offering comfort and advice. It was then, when she was lost in her thoughts, that she became aware of the fact that she was no longer alone in the brig. A rough hand clamped over her mouth, but it wouldn't have mattered. No one heard her screams.
When the sailor got what he wanted from her, he left her down there, shutting and locking the gate down into the brig in hopes that no one would find her. He returned to his post, feeling very smart, and very smug.

Thomas saw the guy come out and instantly knew by the stain on his pants what happened. He growled and quickly took him by the throat squeezing hard "you like quickies,..well I'll make this quick..." He slit his throat throwing him to the Sharks. He wiped off the blood and went to get his love "Sad'a?...I'm here darling..."

Sada didn't know what had happened to the man, or if he was still roaming around, so she just sat wide eyed and shaking in the darkness, clutching her torn dress to herself and just hoping no one else would discover her here. She couldn't walk up there looking like this… everyone would know… when she heard Thomas, she nearly sobbed in relief, wiping at the tears on her face. "Here. I'm here!" She called, hoping he would hear her and come take her out of the cold dark place.

Thomas quickly went to her and held her close "he's shark bait now Sada I've got you...I've got you." He promised picking her up and taking her to his quarters cleaning her carefiully and dressing her in trousers. He stormed out to his crew "there are two lasses on board you treat with respect or you become shark bait."

Sada nodded, keeping her face tucked in his shirt as he carried her back to his cabin and cleaned her up and dressed her. She slowly stopped trembling, and just sat wide eyed and quiet on his bed as he went to go make the announcement. She couldn't help but feel sick. That stranger had taken her first, and now she could never give that to Thomas. She curled up on his bed, not crying, just watching the water through the window.
The men on the ship raised eyebrows at each other, wondering why the captain was so strict on this all of a sudden. "But cap'n." One called out. "if they aint married… ain't they up for grabs?"

Thomas nodded "one man already died for touching my Sad'a, test me I dare you, the Sharks are anxious for a meal..." He growled and sliced off the man that asked the question's member and walked away casually.

After the shock of the first incident died down, the crew slowly dissolved into terse nods and frightened whispers. They never knew the captain to be so harsh. Sampson, seeing that the men understood, took charge. "Well you heard the cap'n! No need to be standing about now! Get back to work!" He stood, waiting for the men to scatter, which they did promptly.

Thomas felt pleased with the fear and went back to his quarters and lay by his Sada "they got the message no one will be touching you again my darling..." He sighed and kissed her neck nuzzling her "I'm so sorry it happened..."

Sada tensed, her eyes wide when the door creaked open, but she relaxed when she saw who it was. She tucked herself against him, trying hard to keep back the tears that were finally surfacing. "I wanted it to be you…" She whispered, her voice cracking. "Years of waiting and I wanted it to be you…" She dissolved into tears then, hiding her face against his shirt, ashamed.

Thomas shook his head holding her close and stroking back her long shiny hair and kissing her forehead "it's alright lass...he didn't cause any harm he wasn't man enough..." He explained "no chance of you being with child." He kissed her lovingly "I will still be your first..."

Sada was both comforted and shocked by this knowledge. She still hadn't had her first, she wasn't going to get pregnant… but there was a good chance that Thomas would hurt her the first time, if a small man had been painful. She hugged him, blushing furiously. "You mean that… that people could be… could be bigger?

Thomas cleared his throat and nodded "very...he was not, and I am very sorry he hurt you...I Wish I could have stopped it. But I feel like they wouldn't dare hurt either of you."

Sada nodded slowly, blushing even harder, and kept her face tucked against him. "I don't blame you. It's not your fault. I was the one foolish enough to stay alone in a dark place." She said softly, closing her eyes. "I'm sorry. If I had been more careful… I wouldn't be used."

Thomas sighed "you have no part of the accountability Sada, it was him who forcefully used you...and I took care of him. I believe Sampson will protect the other girl...I'm afraid I only know the name of which he calls her which isn't approppriate for ladylike ears."

Sada nodded slowly, understanding that. She knew she shouldn't blame herself. Then she smiled a little softly. "Her name is Jacqueline." She whispered, looking up at him. "She's a sweet girl." She tucked her head against the pillow. "Though you will find that I know things most ladylike do not." She kissed his cheek. "Don't coddle me too much." She pecked his lips then, scooting closer. "Though I am happy you saved me today."

Thomas shook his head and kissed her gently "I like to protect and coddle you though angel,..your my Sada and your innocence is what charmed me." He brushed his nose against her "when your ready..,I'll ease you into a less innocent relationship."

Sada smiled then, curling against him as she pulled the blanket around them and just rested, trying to relax after the events of the day. "I'll permit some coddling." She decided, smiling up at him. Then she blushed, and tucked her face into his shirt again. "Alright. Not yet. But soon."

Thomas smiled and nipped her lips "alright I'll wait as long as you need love..." He hugged her closer and massaged her waist and thigh "so did you enjoy conversing with Jacqueline? I feel like she's hard to get to know."

Sada smiled then, again, pleasantly surprised at how much he loved her and catered to her needs. "Thank you love." She nodded then, thinking back to the girl. "I did. It's nice having some one to talk to, even though I still don't speak English very well. Pirate speak is even harder..." She shook her head, wrinkling up her nose. "Like......" She struggled to form the word. "Idjit." She said, frowning at how harsh the English word was. "What does that mean?"

Thomas listened to her sound it out "oh idiot...um it's a term meaning someone isn't smart or makes wrong decisions...it isn't a kind word but most pirate slang isn't proper English either." He took her hand and slowly removed the glove holding her bare hand.

Sada frowned, thinking that over. "Idiout…" She said with a little smoother accent. "Idiot…" She shook her head. "Such a strange word." she said in her own language again. She watched as he pulled off one of her gloves and held her hand. It was so strange to feel skin against her own, and she couldn't help but blush, watching him.

Thomas smiled loving her gorgeous carmel skin against his rough tan one. He laced them together and kissed the back of her hand carefully "you don't know how lost I was without you Sada...I felt as if I had no purpose."

Sada's face only blushed brighter, and she smiled, liking the feel of his rough hands, and his warm lips on the back of her hand. Her smile dwindled when he spoke and she looked at him, her dark eyes wide. "You always had a purpose, and it far encompasses any man I have ever met. You mean the world to me, but I am not your only purpose. Please don't just feel like I'm your only reason to be great. I want so much for you." She whispered, reaching up her other hand to run it down the side of his cheek.

Thomas closed his eyes as she spoke and swallowed "I feel no reason to be great if you are not by my side...a captain is nothing without his first mate and that is you...yes I have done incredibke things but they made no sense when all I longed was to see you at one of the ports."

Sada bit her lip, feeling both very special, and very worried. "Ok. Alright, thank you." She whispered, kissing his cheek. "But please don't lose sight of you vision because of me. I like that you're passionate." She kissed his other cheek. "And just so you know, losing you killed me too." She said, peering into his eyes seriously.

Thomas nodded and pushed her hair back "I'm not going to...we are leaving towards the island. Edmund is already practicing the crow neat techniques and Sampson...well he is too focused on the girl. They are fascinating together."

Sada smiled, relieved. The last thing she wanted to be was something that held him back from his dreams. She wanted to help him pursue them. She lay back, laughing softly. "Ah yes. The two spiteful love birds. How long do you think it will take before they are tangled up in each other?" she mused.

Thomas chuckled "minutes, from the way they were looking at eachother...it's not hate it's love...and fear that they are just like eachother and just as lonely..." He kissed her softly "I just prefer non complicated simple love..."

Sada smiled softly and shook her head. "I just hope she's smart and I don't have to be an emergency midwife here…" She kissed his nose and smiled shyly. "I love a nice simple love story too." She agreed. "They were the kind I read about in legends as a child…" Her smile turned wistful.

Thomas shook his head "babies on board...what else could go wrong? I don't think there is any birth control available and they are expensive..." He watched get and smiled "tell me a legend love..."

Sada smiled softly, shaking her head. "I'm not talking about birth control. I speak of every women's natural understanding of her body, and the best times to conceive, and how to avoid it." She explained. Then she smiled, nodding eagerly. "Alright. I'll tell you about the goddess of light and her golden hair." she offered.

Thomas blinked "I didn't know there was a way...I suppose I'm pretty naive when it comes to woman..." He leaned back smiling "I'm ready..."

Sada smiled, starting her tale. She spoke in her language, and in the practiced rhythmic way of one who has heard and told the story many times. It was of a lovely golden maiden who loved the pale boy of the shadows. Though they both were from completely different kingdoms, light and darkness, they were completely in love. And every day, the sun would protect the shadow, and every night, he would do the same for her. Sada stopped the story then, ending it with them being completely in love. "That story has both the happy ending I told, and the tragic ending that some poets prefer, but I like the happy ending most of all."

Edmund could finally wrote back to his love, the pigeon carriers would send his letter to Tortuga and then back to him.
My dearest,
It has been weeks since I last saw your beautiful smile, I miss you terribly my heart breaks thinking that it will be longer then a month till Im home. The storms have taken us off course to our goal and some of the crew is ill. I feel find my love so do not worry...I hope you are doing as well. Inside is a sea bird made of drift wood, they call me sea bird on the ship may it protect and comfort you.'
Thomas listened intrigued and smilrd "I love the happy ending as well...that was beautiful Sada we may need you tell stories on the ship to keep the crew entertained as we forge these seas...it may be months before we get back to the island."

When Emma got the letter, she cherished it like her most prized possession, reading over it many times until the paper was soft from being folded and unfolded so many times. She sat in her rocker, knitting and fingering the bird, letting it rest on her swelling stomach as the occasional tear would run down her face. The letter she wrote back, was this.
Edmund,
I miss you dearly with each day that goes by. I only hope that you are having the best time adventuring, wherever you are. Make memories, so you can come back and tell them to me, I thank you for the bird, sea bird is quite the fitting name for you. Do not worry yourself over me, as I have found good work in the palace to keep my hands busy while I wait for your return. Stay safe my love,
Emma
She stood, wandering to the window. What would happen if Edmund was gone so long that he missed the child's birth? What would happen if he never came back? The thought made her pale with fear.
Sada smiled softly, taking a little bow. "It was nothing a child couldn't do. My people is very passionate about tales and theatre." She said honestly. "I will be more than happy to speak with your crew, but unfortunately, much of the charm is lost in the language barrier." She reminded. "I have not practiced that tale half as much in English."

Edmund felt like there was something off about her letter, he wrote her another one.
My love,
I have fears that need to be voiced are you truly alright?...after the island im coming home. The pirate life is not for me, I'll find other ways to be an adventurers. Please tell me what is going on, even in your hand I can read sadness and pain...it scares me."
Thomas nodded "my men should know your lamguage better, it's the second most common language at the sea..."

Emma read his letter, knowing that she would have to tell him sooner or later. She had just hoped it wouldn't be through a letter. Biting her lip, she started to carefully write again.
Edmund,
How can I not write with sadness and pain when it is all I feel when I think of you not returning for another couple months? I miss you dearly Edmund. And, I suppose I can't keep a secret from you forever. I am with child, Edmund, your child. And I wish to the depths of my being that you would be able to make it home before the baby emerges. I love you dearest, forgive me for not telling you sooner, I wished to tell you in person.
your dearest,
Emma
Sada smiled softly then. "I would love it if others understood my native language." She said honestly. "Then we could converse more easily." She smiled at him, kissing his cheek. "But for now, I should rest, and you should get back to your crew."

Edmund coukdnt believe it, it made his heart sick, his darling Emma was with child and he could not get home to be with her and care for her. It was a child out of wedlock and she must be getting judged fiercely for that...he knew the crew needed him but he had to get home before the nine months.
Thomas nodded and tucked her in kissing her head and locking the door behind him as he went out to give the orders and get hold of his ship again.

Jackie frowned "I can be crows nest I did it on my own ship, you need to get home and by with your lady...she needs you far more then this crew."

At home, Emma spent much of her time working to busy herself, and she tried to ignore the snide comments the other staff gave her for getting pregnant. They called her the unfortunate widow.

'Baby girl I'm coming home to see you and meet our little one, it'll take about a week but I'll be there pretty girl, I love you more then you or anyone could understand.'
Javkie smiled and hugged him "show me what to do sir, I have a new position and all." She saluted him and shimmied up the pole and into the crowd nest "the view is incredible!"

Emma got the letter and nearly sobbed with joy. He was on his way home to see her! He would be able to see the child! He would be able to help her while she was pregnant. It was a dream come true, and she treasured the letter, waiting for the day Edmund would return.

Edmund knocked on the door and smiled at James "your highness I am here to see my wife and the mother of my child." He said giving a weak smile he certaintly had changed in the months, stronger with long hair and facial hair.

James answered the door and his eyes widened. "Ed!" he cried, hugging him tight and ushering him in. "My gosh you've changed in only a couple months!" He said, shaking his head. "How was your time at sea? Emma is down in the kitchens right now, she'll be thrilled to see you."

Edmund hugged his friend and chuckled "it was marvelous, quite an adventure but once I heard of Emma I had to come home. He say politely taking off his bandana and sitting stiffly he felt uncomfortable in such wealth.
Sada's expression immediately softened at her admission, and she scooted closer, laying one delicate arm around the shoulders of the sailor, holding her in a gentle embrace. "You… you can tell me… I promise… promise I won't talk." She assured, meaning that she wouldn't tell anyone else about it. She just wanted to help the poor girl, who was obviously emotional about something.
