Simmon's Hyperion getting a TV min-series

US cable network Syfy announced that it is going to develop an "event series" based on Dan Simmons’ Hugo Award-winning bestselling novel “Hyperion.”

"event series" means limited run mini-series, a la last year's "Ascension", with a possibility of extended it to a full series if it does well.

Actor Bradley Cooper (The Hangover movies) & producer Todd Philips (also The Hangover movies) are attached. (Because I was just saying how much Hyperion was like a lost weekend in Vegas.)

Haha, maybe the pilgrims all wake up in the treeship and then go in wacky adventures to get the memories of their respective tales back.
I was discussing the book litteraly just yesterday and we wondered why it had never been adapted as a movie or series.
I'm a little wary that Syfy is working on this (you just know that FX or HBO would do a fantastic job, or at least give a decent budget); I don't need this book to be butchered into a Defiance clone. I'll still check it out it because they did do a great job recently with 12 monkeys.

One of my favorite series. Considering that the antagonists are a religious entity I wonder how controversial they will make it.
