IShita | 186 comments Christine, I would like to hold on to that thought unless I've finished the book. Sorry it's taking me so long- I've got college in the morning and I'm preparing for MBA.
Anyway I have this weird thing with titles of the book where I need(?) it to make sense or it just overshadows the entire experience of the book for me. I might be thinking too much but now that I've noticed the name I have some ideas about it and I'd like to see where it takes me. I have the weekends off so here's hoping (and intending!) to finishing it by the end of it!
But I'll tell you what- the idea makes me really curious and I can't wait to see what's coming my way!

message 252: by Christine (new)

Christine (clt04) | 4838 comments Taking so long? It's been 2 days, Ishita, lol!!!! No worries. I was just curious to see if you were thinking what I was thinking. And I agree about wanting to know exactly how the title fits into the story. I will happily wait till you're done. (-:

message 253: by IShita (new)

IShita | 186 comments Just 2, really? Wow. I must really be having longer days on my side, lol.

Christine (clt04) | 4838 comments 2 1/2?

message 255: by E. (new)

E. | 653 comments Dang Aaron. Seriously...? In a book I don't care but I'd rather not read it in the threads, thanks.

message 256: by John (new)

John Nicholl | 132 comments I think this may be a good time to change the subject and remind everyone that if they require the updated version of the ebook, they should contact me at nicholl06@hotmail.com. The revised version went live on Amazon on 12, June. Just let me know, and I'll send it straight away. No charge, of course.

message 257: by Christine (new)

Christine (clt04) | 4838 comments We need to decide a time when we can open up the thread and chat about the whole book. What would be reasonable you guys? Can folks who haven't finished give an estimate to when you might be done?

message 258: by Jean (new)

Jean | 2382 comments Great idea, Chris! I'm done and have started my review.

message 259: by Stefanie (new)

Stefanie | 120 comments Sure, I should be done no later than 7/12 , meaning I could begin discussions on that day.
Thanks for thinking of those of us still chugging through!!

message 260: by IShita (new)

IShita | 186 comments I'll be done around the 12th as well. But I won't be able to discuss until Monday, if that's okay with everyone?

John, I don't know if this question is being repeated (I quite forgot the questions above), but did you always know you wanted your antagonist to be a doctor? Or did the idea come later on?

message 261: by Perri (new)

Perri | -43 comments Could you start a new thread for those who have finished?

message 262: by John (last edited Jul 09, 2015 09:23AM) (new)

John Nicholl | 132 comments Hi Ishita, While the book is fictional, factual past events lead me to make him a doctor.

message 263: by Jan (new)

Jan | 258 comments Perri wrote: "Could you start a new thread for those who have finished?"

Not a bad idea if we kept it amongst the readers as I wouldn't want to take advantage of John's time anymore than necessary. I'm completely fine with waiting though and giving John some time off to recharge until after the 12th if he's still with us for discussion :)

message 264: by John (new)

John Nicholl | 132 comments Thank you, Mallory, for your wonderful review, it's truly appreciated!

John Nicholl | 132 comments All night, really? I hope it was worth it!

message 267: by E. (new)

E. | 653 comments I'll be finished in a day or so. New thread or not, looking forward to getting specific regarding the story itself.

message 268: by John (new)

John Nicholl | 132 comments Everyones nearing completion, do we really need a new thread?

message 269: by Jan (new)

Jan | 258 comments John wrote: "Everyones nearing completion, do we really need a new thread?"

No, I think this one is fine! As mentioned above, we can plan on getting into the heart of the book starting on Monday. If anyone needs longer than that to complete just holler, no rush!!

message 270: by Christine (new)

Christine (clt04) | 4838 comments Sounds good to us.

message 271: by Perri (new)

Perri | -43 comments Whatever the group thinks is fine, I've just started ch 31

message 272: by E. (new)

E. | 653 comments John, I just now saw in the front of the book where you had already explained the reason for the '90s setting. Sorry to have you explain again.
I just started chap 30. Should be finished tomorrow.

message 273: by John (new)

John Nicholl | 132 comments Hi E, No problem at all. It's great that you were interested enough to ask.

ReadAlongWithSue recovering from a stroke★⋆. ࿐࿔ John said.....lol

I hope my next book will be published in about nine months time, all being well

Its like waiting for a baby to be born John, oh so worth it.
I felt very honored reading White is the coldest color and dived into it right away.

Yep I cringed at the video he was watching, but it needed to be written. I'm a great believer in facing life 'head on' and things like this happen [I am saddened to say]. You've not glorified it, its not a 'messy' book to horrify people, its a story that could happen. I looked upon it as a warning too. That without us realizing we put our children in the hands of lots of 'professionals' out there and never think it might all go wrong.......

You know I just can't rave about this book enough. Your experience and your life dealings has made you into an author, not a writer. Anyone can write, but authors make a reader 'feel' YOU definitely did that for me

ReadAlongWithSue recovering from a stroke★⋆. ࿐࿔ ps, the title fits in well with the story, wait and see *wink*

Brenda | 2434 comments I'm fine waiting. I check this thread daily to see what's new.

message 277: by John (new)

John Nicholl | 132 comments Thank you so much, Sue, your comments are really appreciated. I didn't know how the book would be received; I knew it was a side of life many understandably choose to ignore, and your review really helped. I've had some great reviews since, and several not so great, of course, but yours will always stick in my mind.

message 278: by John (new)

John Nicholl | 132 comments A massive thank you to Christine and Jean for your fabulous reviews. Both sum up the book and my intentions in writing it perfectly. I truly appreciate your observations and kind comments.

message 279: by Christine (last edited Jul 09, 2015 06:06PM) (new)

Christine (clt04) | 4838 comments It was a real pleasure, John. Your book needs to be out there.

message 280: by Jean (new)

Jean | 2382 comments Thank you, John. That means a lot. I also have to say that it has been great having you so present and accommodating to us members these past days. I think that speaks volumes about your commitment to your writing, to your audience, and most importantly, to your message.

Lol! Yes they are Cameron and their reviews are up.

message 286: by Cameron (new)

Cameron Wiggins | 369 comments I guess I better star busting'.

John I have a question/situation to pose for you that I am curious about. Some people write gore and violence and other things that make us uncomfortable clearly for shock value. This is obviously not the case with "White." However, I am wondering, did you have to ponder on whether to write in some of these scenes considerably? Moreover, once this decision was made, and you had decided to make a credible effort to write these scenes in a delicate enough way that would not be perceived wrongly, grotesque or trashy, but worthy of good literature, did you find yourself writing and re-writing the same scenes over and over? And, furthermore, after making your decision to proceed for the good of the book to bring to the forefront to the readers what these innocent victims actually experience, did you question your decision or were you sure all along that you were moving in the right direction? And, finally, am I just making assumptions that I have no idea what I am going on about? (always a possibility)

message 287: by John (new)

John Nicholl | 132 comments Hi Cameron,

I wrote and rewrote many times. The book now bears little resemblance to the original version, which didn't include the video interviews. I came close to deleting the entire manuscript several times for fear of readers not getting the message I was intending to convey. The rather obvious statement on the cover sums up the book. I opted for who you trust rather than whom you trust, as it is a more common form of speech.

message 288: by David (new)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 1127 comments I haven't been able to get on board with this, as I'm currently working hard on edits for my next book. Comment from friends here have definitely put this book high on my to read list, however, and I will be reading it soon.

Not looking in again, as you'll all no doubt be slapping spoilers all over the place :~)

message 289: by John (new)

John Nicholl | 132 comments Hi Aaron,

Thanks for the group invites, it's appreciated. Sadly, I haven't got time for any other groups at the moment. The next book isn't going to write itself.

message 290: by John (new)

John Nicholl | 132 comments We're discussing my first novel at the moment. I'll probably go with the same publisher for the second book, but I've kept my options open.

message 291: by Stefanie (new)

Stefanie | 120 comments Hi John, I'm still pretty early in the book (sadly life has been interrupting my reading time) but I have a quick question. What is going on with the Dr. when he gets the pounding and pain in his head? Is it because of his overwhelming sexual desire that he can't put to bed or is it due to the "mask slipping" or something else?

message 292: by John (new)

John Nicholl | 132 comments You've got it spot on. He's increasingly losing control. His horrendous criminal behaviour is the only thing he values. It's an addiction he can't satisfy. He feels driven to commit further crimes, and finds the waiting excruciating.

message 293: by Stefanie (new)

Stefanie | 120 comments Thanks John! I'm one of those readers that likes to understand EVERYTHING that is going on so I find myself oftentimes reading and then rereading certain passages ect. It is so great having you participate in this discussion I can't thank you enough

John Nicholl | 132 comments Hi Christine,

That's great, I'm really keen to reach American readers.

Thanks, Aaron, it's appreciated.

message 298: by John (new)

John Nicholl | 132 comments Hi again Christine, I know it's off the point, but I thought I'd mention that I visited the USA with my family a few years back. We drove from San Francisco to Los Angeles, and loved it. We hope to travel to the Sates again some day.
