[Expedition Whydah]

This is a novel based on the concept of the famous Disneyland Haunted Mansion attraction, which in turn was a design concept based on a Baltimore house once owned by the author's own cousin - but in this ghost story the mansion is a "real" plantation house, not a Disney attraction, and a young couple stumbles upon its ruins. When they step inside for shelter from a lightning storm, they discover that the old house is far from deserted. The reader is given the idea that the park's Haunted Mansion attraction is actually a presentation of the true ghost story of the Baltimore house, and the book takes the reader far deeper into the mansion than the attraction. A clever story which would make a good movie.
