April followed Crispin as they walked together through the woods,with a sweet smile on her face she whistled a sweet tone. April looked around the woods with wide eyes filled with curiously as she saw little yellow birds dance along the trees,to attentive on her surrounding she tripped over a loose tree limb."Good Lord!" April shouted quite loudly as she landed on the ground with a tad bit of dirt on her white pale face. Strands of wild sun kissed blonde hair covered her face,gently pushing them away from her face she attempted to get up only to fall once again.
Crispin walked with April. Although he had no relations to her at all, he felt pity on her young soul, for having to deal with this place at such a young age. He had treated her like his younger sister since day one and protected her from the insults that most people had to endure. Though that was the past, now they were in the present and Crispin had asked April to help him gather some aloe and other herbs. As she watched her surroundings he watched her. When she fell, he went to catch her, but was too late. Helping her up, he the grime off of her and gazed at her. "Are you ok?" He asked sincerely worried about her.
April smiled gently as she saw Crispin's worried gaze."I'm totally fine,it was just a small fall." She stated calmly as reached out for his hand and got up carefully. April smiled reassuringly and brushed off leaves and a bit of the dirt on her. April enjoyed the time spent with Crispin,since he was like a big brother to her always taking care of her and making sure nothing bad happen. Taking the lead to prove she was alright she walked along the path that had been made from all the years they had walked here.
"If you say so." Crispin replied in his thick British accent. He has his usually sleeked back hair, tussled a bit and his glass didn't seem to fit with the pieces of clothe they called clothing. As April got up and dusted herself off, Crispin became much more diligent when it came to making sure she was ok. He followed her easily, and was prepared to help her at a moments notice. He was practically bouncing up and down with anticipation of helping her.
April knowing how over protective Crispin was figured that he was probably making sure she didn't trip or fall again,which was fine by her to be honest. April followed the path and moved away some of the ferns discovering the herbs and aloe they had planted to make sure they didn't have to go to far away from camp to get he basic herbs to help the other gladers. April delicately pick off leaves on the thyme plant and placed them into a wool sack,just like Crispin had taught her.
Crispin was glad they made it to their secret garden quickly. He was worried about April and as he watched her pick the Thyme leaves, pride sparked in his core. He smiled gently and went over and picked some aloe from the stocks. He went and picked other leaves from various healing plants. Most of the leaves were for cuts and infection, however, there also was some for fever, but not much. Not many got sick around here, there were more injuries than anything.
April worked quickly due to the time limit they had. April knew that if they didn't make it back to camp in 10 minute surely everyone at camp would worry about two of their med-jacks being gone for long periods of time. April made sure to not injure any of the plants,these plants would help a lot when they creators decided that they had helped them enough. Bitting her lip gently she looked at her hands confused for a bit lost in worry until something clicked in her brain that she was needed and she couldn't lose hope even if it was unrealistic.
Crispin glanced at April and like always his eyes softened. It had almost been over ten minutes by now and Crispin noticed that he had collected more then enough leaves to last them awhile. "April let's start heading back, we need to leave some leaves for the next time we need to replenish our stocks." He explained and carefully walked over to her. "Ready?" He asked and then he noticed the look I her eyes. "Hey you ok?" He asked gently.
April nodded taking in Crispin's words. April pulled her dirty blonde locks into a high ponytail,grabbing her little pouch she carefully placed it in her hands making sure not to crush any of the leaves like she did the first couple times they had come here. April look up from the ground and shook her head." It's just pessimist me bothering my thoughts." She said carefully as they began to walk along the path back to the camp.
"Don't worry this won't be forever." Crispin tried to reassure her. Though as he began walking he wasn't so sure either. Things just seemed so hopeless, but he didn't want April to have to deal with that. He smiled gently. "Come on April, we can restock the storages, then you can have the rest of the day off as long as nothing comes up." Crispin was always like this when he was around her. He was kind and reasonable. He knew she was just a child still and so he didn't feel like she had to be in the center of all the bad in this world they were stuck in.
April smiled gently at the reassuring thought."Thanks,Crispin you always know what to say." She said softly as the slowly made their way to camp. Watching around her she saw some wild tomatoes growing around the edge of the path and pointed them out. "I'd like and than during dinner we can make animals out of our dinner." She said giggling as she remembered the first day at the glade how easily Crispin had made her understand everything without leaving her shaking in corner crying.
Crispin smiled and nodded. "Come on kid lets get going." He replied and as they passed the tomatoes he glanced at them and licked his lips. Then he went and picked some of them. He threw one to April. "Have one." He said as he realized that she too saw them. He chuckled what she said about their dinner and nodded. He smiled at April and he too remembered the first day she got here. He remembered how scared she was and how everyone just kept staring and pointing.
April smiled wide." I'm not a kid anymore,i'm fifteen now emphasize on teen." She said jokingly she really didn't mind being called kid from Crispin,it was like a sweet older brother thing. April spotted sweet juicy tomatoes and waited for Crispin to realize them too and once he did,she grinned."Mmm,thanks Crispy." She teasingly to Crispin,it was his nickname for her.
