Andrew (ajb65) | 73 comments In our read of this book on the Mystery and Suspense Plus Group on Shelfari we have found there are different versions of the book in both countries with 18 more pages in the UK version according to P J Tracy on the website.
In the UK Version there is a section in Chapters 33 and 34 where Iris gets shot when she confronts Kenny abusing Roberta. Does Iris get shot in your version and are there characters called Roberta and Kenny in your version?

Nope. No Kenny or Roberta in my version, nor did Iris get shot.

So this fits with the two versions!

Andrew (ajb65) | 73 comments This is the explanation found by Eadie and Carol on P J Tracy's website.

I've heard that the British version of SNOW BLIND has some extra pages that aren't included in the U.S. version. Is this true? If so, why?
It's true -- we did add some material for the British version, about 18 manuscript pages. The Penguin U.K. publishing schedule afforded us a little more time to windbag, and this was an opportunity we just couldn't pass up! But rest assured, the outcome of SNOW BLIND remains the same in both versions.

Andrew (ajb65) | 73 comments Did you have this section in your book Tracey?

Tracey (trakka) | 407 comments Yes I did.

Tracey (trakka) | 407 comments They should have written more about the Monkeewrench crew ;-)

Andrew (ajb65) | 73 comments Quite bizarre that there are such different versions out there, especially where one of the lead characters in this book gets shot and almost killed, yet in the American version she doesn't even get shot.

Andrew (ajb65) | 73 comments I concur totally Tracey. It wasn't a long book they could easily have written more about Monkeewrench and especially about Grace's developing relationship which is such a central feature of the series from my perspective.

I haven't a clue as to why they omitted this section. It would have explained a lot about the old sheriff.

Andrew (ajb65) | 73 comments It was a very good, pacy and tense section as well.

Yes it was! Wow without it I think I would have thought less of the book. I didn't want Iris killed but at least it added some oomph.

Jealous! It would have made the ending more exciting!

You'd have thought with them being American authors that if anyone had the extra materials it would be the American audience.

I would like to see a series about Iris and Sampson.

I have a feeling this series sells better in the UK, which seems to be the case for quite a few mystery writers.

I'd love a series with Iris and Sampson. Was he at her side when she got shot?

Was Roberta Sampson's sister?
