Charlie felt relieved that she wasn't mad at him for snapping and he grinned at her happily. He was very glad she seemed to buy his lie and he nudged her playfully. "Hey, I got you," Charlie teased softly, waggling his eyebrows at her in an attempt to make her laugh. He felt bad for confusing her, just because he had a big mouth and said things he didn't mean to. When she asked if there was anything else bothering him, he shook his head quickly, not wanting her to worry or anything. "Nope, everything is fine with me," Charlie assured her sweetly, biting his lip. "You alright?" Charlie remembered to ask kindly.

Emmy laughed and nodded. "Alright, you got me." She admitted, but she still couldn't shake the feeling that Charlie was hiding something. It was probably just her imagination. She nodded in response to his question, shrugging. "Yeah I'm fine. Just tired." Emmy hadn't really had time for much other than work that day. Some days she just wanted to sleep, but she would never say that. One of the rules of the glade was to always do your part, and Emmy was a keeper.

Charlie grinned, always glad to be able to make her laugh. It was one of the best things in life, to make people laugh. Especially his best friend. Charlie looked concerned at her words and then put an arm around Emmy, squeezing her gently. "Hey, you want to have a little nap?" Charlie asked sweetly, biting his lip in thought. Suddenly, his eyes brightened. "I could carry you back! You can have a little nap in my arms," Charlie told her, voice slightly teasing. To be honest, it did sound a bit more than friendly what he was saying, but he didn't mean it in that way.

Emmy let him put an arm around her, smiling a little. No matter how crazy Charlie could get, he was always super nice as well. She smiled at his suggestion, but shook her head. "No, I'm already awake. If I fall asleep, it will make it that much harder to deal with the dinner rush." She explained to Charlie. "But thanks for the offer." She leaned against him as they walked, since his arm was around her.

Charlie smiled back her, happy that she didn't seem too upset at him for being so crazy. He was about to try and convince her to have a little sleep, but he sighed and just nodded. "Okay, if that's what you would like better," Charlie said softly, not wanting her to find it difficult to work. He felt bad that she had to do so much work. Charlie tried not to react much as she leaned into him, even though it made him feel very happy. They weren't too far from the main part of the Glade now; he could just about hear faint voices.

Emmy nodded in response. She knew that if she fell asleep, she would hate having to wake up for dinner. She didn't really have enough time to get a good nap in. She was glad Charlie let her lean on him though. Up ahead, Emmy could see a few gladers milling about as the Honestead camw into view. "So... got any plans for the rest of the day?" Emmy asked, breaking the silence.

Charlie sighed as the homestead came into view, since it meant him and Emmy weren't alone and able to just hang out again. They had people watching. It wouldn't be cool. He stopped and leaned against a tree just outside of the homestead, hoping Emmy would stop too. He wanted to talk, just the two of them, for a little bit longer. He shrugged at her question, lips curling into a grin. "Oh, I'm just going to go hook up with some of the girls here, strut my stuff etc," Charlie commented teasingly, joking around obviously.

Emmy stopped when Charlie did, turning around to face her best friend. She grinned at his answer, laughing quietly. "Oh yeah, I figured." She nodded seriously, still smiling. She opened her mouth to say something else when the sound of the dinner bell cut her off. Emmy frowned. "That's my cue." She told Charlie, noticing a few gladers already heading for the kitchen.

Charlie laughed as she did, grinning widely. He chuckled again when she joked back, but managed to look serious as she did. She had more self control then him, clearly. Charlie let out involuntary groan as the dinner bell went off, since it meant he and Emmy really had to part ways. He grinned boyishly at her words and then opened his arms. "Come and give your favourite person hug then, before you go," Charlie demanded firmly, but he was smirking.

Emmy let a smile play on her lips, pulling Charlie into a hug. She meant for it to be a quick hug, but ended up pulling him tighter. She let out a sigh, chin on his shoulder. Emmy felt ridiculous still hugging him, like she hadn't seen him in ages. "I've missed talking to you." She said finally, frowning.

Charlie hugged her back, meaning it to just be friendly and quick, but Emmy held on. Because of this, he did too. His hands stroked her back gently without really noticing as her chin rested on his shoulder. They hugged silently like this until Emmy finally spoke. He nodded just a tad, squeezing her slightly. "Me too, Emmy," Charlie admitted, frowning too. He wanted to be happy, but it made him sad that he couldn't just talk to Emmy all of the time. He should let her go, but really? He never wanted to.

Emmy pulled herself away, realizing they had been hugging a little bit too long. She smiled at Charlie at his words, glad he felt the same. "Hey, I can get you some extra mashed potatoes though." She told him with a smirk, hoping to lighten the mood between them.

Charlie quickly let go as she pulled back, as if he was about to as well. It was not at all obvious that he wanted to just keep hugging her. Charlie grinned and mudged her with his elbow gently. "This is why you're my girl," Charlie told her teasingly, not a trace of flirt in his voice. He sometimes called her 'my girl' as a teasing nickname, but it was only in a friendly way. In fact, if they ever dated - which Charlie didn't think was ever going to happen - he wouldn't want to call her his girl, since it sounded incredibly possessive. Plus, it had been her friendly nickname for years.

Emmy grinned, nodding in agreement at his words. "See you at dinner then?" She asked to make sure. The dinner bell rang again, and Emmy knew she really needed to get to the kitchen. But, she didn't want to just leave Charlie. That would be rude.

Charlie grinned at her and nodded. He heard the bell ring again impatiently and his grin turned more wry. "Sounds like you're needed," Charlie quipped, raising his eyebrows. His smile turned more genuine and he patted her shoulder lightly. "Go on, Emmy," Charlie told her, turning and beginning to walk off. He turned and waved. "Remember my extra mash!" Charlie called with a chuckle, then he turned and properly left.

Emmy grinned and nodded. She waved back to him. "Okay!" She shouted back, the turned to head off, running for the kitchen.
