Sam walked up to the Map Room and waited outside leaning against the structure. He had hoped to surprise Elle by meeting up with her today and he had finished up everything today so that meant he had more time on his hands. No collecting. No planting. No working. It was surprising how fast he got his work done. Maybe it was because on his mind was how bad he wanted to see Elle.
So here he was, waiting outside the door to see if she wanted to go to their "hangout" again. He desperately hoped that she had time. Besides, it was time to admit something to her. Something that had been bugging him for a while. . .

Adelle nodded as the meeting came to an end, biting her lip. For once, she hadn't caused any arguments or yelled at anyone in the meeting. Maybe it was because she finally had a good influence on her... Speak of the devil, she was pleasantly surprised to see Sam outside the Map Room. She was the first out and she grinned at him widely, momentarily forgeting everyone else.
"Hey, Greenie," Adelle greeted him teasingly, though there was a warmness to her tone that wasn't normally in her voice. She heard some other people coming out of the meeting, so she straightened up and made her smile less wide, but apparently a lot of them knew about her and Sam's friendship already. There were a few wolf whistles, which made her blush. "Hey, shut your big mouthes, you klunks!" Adelle yelled at them, cheeks red with embarrassment and anger.

Sam smirked wildly as he saw her. He held back a chuckle as she called him Greenie. He was starting to get used to the nickname though and he didn't mind it so much. "Hey Elle," he said with a sweet tone. Sam laughed as he heard the wolf whistles. "Not polite to whistle at a lady!" He called after Adelle told them to shut their mouths. He gave Adelle a wink after he said that.
"So, are you available to hang out?" Sam asked her with hope in his tone. Even i she couldn't come, seeing her for a few minutes made his day a whole lot better. There was something about her that made him... comfortable.

Adelle crossed her arms and tried to look tough, but it was hard at the nickname. She liked Sam calling her that. She tucked a piece of hair behind her ear, unaware of the little bit of dirt on her cheek. She frowned when he laughed and looked down, but her eyes caught him winking. She couldn't help smiling and rolling her eyes playfully. He made her blush when he did that for some reason.
Adelle chuckled at his hopeful request for her to go hang out. It was a light, loud noise which rang through the air. Some people turned to look at her in surprise. Most people in the Glade had never heard her laugh. Adelle ignored them all and stepped a little closer to Sam. "Are we going to... the place?" Adelle asked in a low voice so she wouldn't be overheard.

Sam almost laughed at her attempt to look tough. However, he held himself back. Even tough she frowned, his smile was still on his face. But in the back of his mind, he couldn't help but wonder why she was doing that. He relaxed once he noticed her playful ways were back.
"Only if you want to," Sam said to her in a whisper. He looked around to see if anyone was watching. Thankfully, everyone had their eyes off of them. He placed his hand on her cheek and wiped away the dirt. "Had a little something there," he said sweetly as he pulled his hand back. "I didn't want anybody else whistling at us today."

Adelle smiled and nodded silently, biting her lip gently. "Are you gonna ditch me again tonight?" Adelle questioned playfully, eyes dancing with amusement.
However, her smile turned more bashful when he touched her cheek and she wondered why he was doing that. Someone might see! Plus, she was pretty sure friends didn't stroke other friends cheeks. Then, he explained what it was and she flushed, looking down. "Oh, t- thanks," Adelle stammered, subconsciously running the back of her hand across her cheek to make sure it was all gone.
Adelle shook her head and pulled nervously on her shirt sleeve. "I think they found out we are friends and they think that's weird because I don't really... um, like most people," Adelle explained, keeping looking at the ground.

Sam chuckled, "No, I am sure they know that I am hanging out with you," he told her. "Word gets around quickly I have noticed."
"No problem," he said to her. In a low voice, he said to her: "Sorry if I embarrassed you. I tried to make sure no one was watching." He looked down at the ground before looking back up at her.
Sam chuckled again at her. "Well, that's their problem if they think it is weird," he told her. He knew that most of the people at the Glade got into tussles with her and they thought she came off as kinda mean. But Sam didn't think of her that way. It was probably because he was the only one that had tried.

Adelle felt a happy, wide smile come onto her face when he said he wouldn't leave her on her own that night in the cave. They could hang out together and talk until late, have some fun. She wouldn't be alone. "Yes, it definitely gets around quick," Adelle agreed with a laugh, biting her lip lightly.
Adelle only blushed harder as he apologised for cleaning the dirt off of her cheek, since she really shouldn't have been as affected by it as she was. It had just felt really... Nice. Weirdly so. "It's fine," Adelle assured him, strangely wanting him to touch her cheek again.
Adelle let out a laugh at his words and then nodded with a grin. She was glad that Sam didn't seem bothered about what the others said about her, since he would have probably have ditched her by now if he did. "Alright then, tough guy," Adelle joked lightly, pushing his shoulder gently in a teasing way. She found it funny how he was acting more tough almost.

Sam laughed at her as she called him a tough guy. "Is that my new nickname besides Greenie?" As he asked this a large grin formed on his face. If you thought about it, he wasn't as tough as the rest of the boys. You could just say he was unfazed by what other people thought of him.
Sam looked around again. "Ready?" He asked, turning his head back towards her. He couldn't help but be excited. Sam just felt so comfortable around her and he had so much fun with her.

Adelle grinned at him and then nodded importantly. "Sure thing, Greenie tough guy," Adelle told him, licking her lips. To be honest, Sam wasn't a tough guy. He was kind and sweet, not like the other Gladers. Adelle liked that about him. He was different.
Adelle nodded and then ran a hand through her hair, messing it up slightly out of habit. She grinned at him, then got a bright idea. "Race you!" Adelle exclaimed, then she took off towards the woods, aiming for the hangout. She may not be a runner, but she could go pretty fast when she wanted.
