This book was very interesting, it made me feel excited, sad, confused, and happy! I loved "The Giver", and I believe that there is a second book, third book, and a fourth book. Lois Lowry also wrote "Number the Stars" which I also thought was a very good book. I recommend everybody to read all of her books! What a fantastic author Lois is. Please share your opinion about "The Giver" and all of her other books.

it was a eye opener of the world around us! that humans can be cruel but still be beautiful. we have music and love but we have war and hatred. as humans should we have the power to chose things for own selfs. " when people have the power to chose, they always chose wrong every time". look at war for an example. wars can be chosen to start over simple lies between men.
For me, I didn't get really into the book but... Don't hate me because this happens RARELY... I kinda liked the movie better. I've only read the first book in the quartet and I don't really feel like reading the rest. But, do Jonah and Fiona happen or is that just in the movie?

This book was a seriously seriously good read, but the whole thing had this grey, SAD feel to it... it was kind of depressing, really. Seeing someone like Jonah isolated in their knowledge of reality.

The thing that I enjoyed most about the book was the sense of balance it evokes. Jonah has to learn that there are good things and there are bad things. He learns that there is happy and sad and there is a whole lot of in between, but he has to learn to weigh his decisions and think about his actions and what consequences they could bring. Which brings me to the fact that no matter how a world that distances itself from emotions, there is still a sense of humanity and that sheds a light of hope for the future which is another strong message I took from the book.

The book made me feel like things are always bigger and more complex than they seem. That when everything is uniformly done that everyone is missing out on something.

this book made me feel lost and uncomplete i feel that there are a lot of things to see and to learn that im missing right now
