Hi, fellow Biblios! Well the results of the poll are in, and the vast majority of members would like to do away with the in-progress book discussions on RAOA and implement discussion threads here on Goodreads instead.
After each "official monthly book" is selected, the mods will place two discussion threads in a new section, titled with the month and name of the relevant book: one for the first half of the book and one for the second half/full book.
Club members can go to these threads and post comments, questions, etc. about anything in the book leading up to the cut-off point (1st half; full book). Just remember, there will be spoilers in these threads, so enter at your own risk if you're not caught up to that point. We are not going to require that spoiler tags be used in these threads, as it kind of defeats the whole purpose of discussing the book.
We will continue to host two real-time discussions on RAOA at the end of the book. These discussions will take place on designated Saturdays and Sundays at 3PM US EST. Please make yourself a copy of the revised 2013 key dates calendar http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/1..., which indicates the dates on which the book club discussions will be held.
Also, please know that every RAOA member has the right to post a [Discussion] thread on RAOA at any time. We are not trying to limit/regulate discussions on Reddit. These discussions do not have to be limited to the Goodreads Bibliophiles group, and may help to bring us new members. So, for instance, have a question about something that happened in Chapter 4? Don't hesitate to place it both in the "First Half" discussion thread here on GRB, and also as a [Discussion] topic on RAOA. For example: "[Discussion] Has anyone here read John Dies at the End? I have a question about something that occurs in Chapter 4. Care to discuss?". Or "[Discussion] I just finished reading John Dies at the End. Anybody else here who's read the book and feels like talking about it?" If you could give a shout-out to Biblio's in the discussion thread, we'd love you for it. Woohoo for more book-loving members.
We hope everyone is comfortable with this compromise. Questions? Complaints? Let us hear from you and we'll do our best to keep this a happy place for one and all.
