Please be warned, this is extreme horror and not for the faint of heart, enter the buddy read at your own risk... Oh and be a pal and please hide all spoilers. We are starting this on June 15th 2015, so grab your drink of choice and a good salty snack, sit in your favourite chair and share your thoughts. All are welcome....

Too many simultaneous reads going on right now but I have to lurk your thread. My love for this book is great. Wholesome reading for the kids too :P
They even made a kids short film out of it. Not exactly Pixar fare.
I saw this last year at Twisted Terror Con in Sacramento and got to meet the director and cast. It was very cool. The film was amazingly true to the book and as you can imagine...brutal.
I saw a trailer for the short a couple years ago but never saw the full piece. It has so much potential. I love your signed art.
Thanks, Eleven. I think they are still trying to pull together funds to make it into a full length movie. I just got the hardcover too, so may have to lurk a bit on this thread.
I debated over buying the hardcover (over $50) but frugality prevailed and I ordered the $25 trade paperback. From what I understand the HC is the edition that Edward Lee prefers. What do you think, Bill, is it worth the extra coin?
I'm partial to HC's, Marc-Antoine. I bought the one directly from Edward's website and it was $39.95 not including shipping. For whatever reason, I had to have it. Evidently it is his preferred edition and signed limited to 500 copies. I believe only the last 20 pages were re-written, so I'm going to see if I can tell the difference.
I bought a HC copy too. Quite expensive but it was my first exposure to LEE and splatterpunk so I said what the hell. I also want to get a Edward Lee shirt from his website.
You guys had talked me into it, but when I placed the order on line, they wanted to charge me $60 for shipping to Canada... I'm out. Sticking with my copy.
I may be able to buddy read this, I've had it forever, but also a lot of others reads going on. If I finish some of them up in time, I'll be back!
I've read a couple Ed Lee books and enjoyed them, so might as well see how far he goes down the rabbit hole. I'm in.
Nice, welcome to the group all, I'm gonna try and plot through Fevre Dream this weekend to start by Monday
Keep with it, I'm only 8% in but a lot of the intensity has been lost in the gratuitous over-the-top-ness.
I'm keeping at her till the end, just not sure I'll be leaving this buddy read as the same person I was coming in...
I was reading this on a flight coming back home this evening and I kept worrying that the person sitting next to me would glimpse at a page and would see what kind of filth I was reading... It made it that much more exciting...
Not at all, Marc-Antoine. So says the guy who just read Toilet Baby. Sometimes horror fiction is messy. The Bighead, just so happens to be messier than most.
thanks Bill, i threw that out there for shits and giggles. But I got to say, my wife is wondering what is wrong with me...
My wife is already wondering what is wrong with me for reading horror in the first place. If she knew what The Bighead was about she would try and force me into therapy. After reading it...that may not be such a bad idea...
As I'm getting through this I feel myself getting desensitized to it more and more and that just may be the scariest thing about this horror novel...
I have to admit I gave up on it. Nothing had any impact anymore. I'll keep following along with this in case there's some kind of fantastic ending I'll have to come back for but at the present I can't see myself wanting to finish.

In fact, there are different version of "The Bighead" out there. I read the author's preferred version last year and yes, that ending was fantastic, for sure...

I'm 45% in and there is definitely a story shaping up with (view spoiler) but the interludes with Bighead and the two rednecks feels like a distraction. I'm certain it will end up all coming together, but for now those parts feel senseless and gratuitous. To be read on an empty stomach for sure.
