A Quick Note

You tell your mother there's a lot of us sending positive thoughts and wishing her to get well soon!
Let us know how's she's doing.

So sorry to hear about your mom Hugh. Will definitely keep her in my prayers. Please keep us updated when you can, on how she is doing.
Thank you for all of the good wishes. I spoke to my mother on the phone. She's in good spirits, worried about her husband and in good hands.
@Dipanjan, I did get a chance to let her know of your prayers and she gives her thanks for the caring thoughts and feelings that are coming her way.
She has some trouble speaking and seeing out of her right eye. Mostly, when I spoke to her she was tired. Her mind is as sharp as ever (don't let the "little old lady" act fool you). We are worried. This is a serious thing, but, right now, everything appears to be okay.
I'll talk to her again tomorrow. Again, thanks to everyone for your thoughts and prayers.

I’m so sorry to hear about Patti. Now I know what you were doing up so late. Please give her my sincere wishes for a speedy recovery. And I’m sending you my camaraderie and support across the ether.
Very best,
Galen
For an update on my mother, Patricia Frances Rowell. My mother did suffer a stroke. She's getting moved to start physical therapy. She has some issues with getting around now and still has trouble seeing but the doctors are hopeful that she will recover some or all of her mobility and vision. She's getting her Kindle Fire set up with large font and the Audible.com App.
My brother is on his way to help take care of things for a while. Thank you all for your good wishes and prayers. They mean a lot to mother and I.

I'm glad to hear she is well enough to get into physical therapy. If she is able to read on the Kindle, she is doing good. I will keep praying for you all.

Glad your dad is recovered, Anthony.

Hi Hugh,
I'm so sorry to hear your mom is having a tough time right now. Best wishes to her for a full recovery.
Thanks to everyone again for all of the good wishes. My mother has been moved to physical therapy now and my brother has traveled up to be with her. She's in good spirits, if a little frustrated at getting things to move like they should and, until she gets tired her speech is almost back to normal.
She's doing well by all acounts and reports from Step-brother and Brother are generally consistant and report noticable progress towards recovery. Thanks again.

Thanks again for all of the well wishes. I've shared them with Mother and she really appreciates them. I spoke to her today and she's doing well. She's in Therapy now and they wan her to stay for another week or two. She's in good spirits and making progress. Her vision is starting to clear up some too, though her eye still gives her trouble. Of course life's tough for her since she's so used to taking care of herself and doesn't like everyone fretting over her. She is getting around better each day and rested she speaks as clearly as ever. Thank you all for the good will aimed her direction.
@Mark, I'm glad to hear your father's doing well. I know my mother is so used to being independent that, two or three days in the hospital and she's okay with the attention,a week and she's fed up and wants to go home.

Thanks Hugh - best wishes to your Mother, hope she gets as much independence back as possible. Dad was in for two weeks and was doing a pretty good impression of a caged tiger by the end.
Thank you all for the kind thoughts and well wishes. I report that Patti has arrived home and even posted on facebook. I know that she's been reading and she's getting stronger daily. Still some difficulty here and there, but still in gear and ready for action!

Woohoo!

Well, she was down for a bit once, "but dat alagatah she was sittin' on dint appriciate it much." (that's from the "Mamma-Mudgeon was a Cajun" album.)
I'll pass the good thoughts and well wishes along, thank you.

My mother is currently in the Hospital. We are not sure what has happened with her, but the symptoms are "stroke" like. She's going in for an MRI right now and we're waiting by the phone.
I spoke to her and she's coherent, feeling a little woozy and having trouble with her right side, but she is lucid.
Please wish her the best of luck. I'll post again when we have something definitive.
