I drive a school bus for a very large school district, so for 10 months out of the year I am driving children back and forth to school, on field trips, and to sporting events. When summer vacation comes around, I have to admit I am just as exited as the kids.

One of my favorite things to do to relax is to sit on my back deck in the morning with a hot cup of coffee and read for awhile.

Pick 1 of the 2 options below and put your feet up in your favorite reading spot with a beverage of your choice and a good book and just relax.

Option1: If your to-be-read list looks anything like mine, there are not enough days in the summer to make a dent in it. Sort your to-be-read list or pile from oldest to newest. Choose one of the ten oldest ones to read and spend some time relaxing.

Option 2: At the moment I am enjoying the days of summer but all the seasons represent something special for me. Read a book that has Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall in the title. Possessives and plurals are allowed, but no other variations. The word does not necessarily have to be referring to a season.

Pia Hi! I have a question for Option 1: I have a huge TBR pile, but I haven't updated it in GR.
Does the book have to come from my "want to read" list here in GR? Or can it be one of the books I already have, even if it isn't on my GR list?

message 6: by Bea (new)

Bea Mary, I am in another reading group on GR that challenges us to read our 10 oldest books on our TBR. My point is that those books have been moved to a different list called LOST, which is an accumulation of those books (unread still) for the past 5 years. May I use one of the 10 oldest from that sub-list?

Lagullande | 387 comments Just checking....by "oldest", do you mean books that have been on our TBR for the longest time, or books that were published the longest time ago?

Dee (austhokie) | 8947 comments i was going to ask similar to Bea - I have multiple TBR lists - my overly massive one and then several that I try to cull down to a more reasonable size - can I use one of those

The books can be chosen from your want-to-read list, your own personal list or chose from your pile of actual books you own.

Books that have been on your list the longest.

I want to have confirmed that "Love in the Time of Global Warming" is currently at #7 on my TBR list when sorted for date added (and therfore eligible for option #1)

Hana C's TBR

Yes. That would work for the task.

Nicola | 1360 comments Does it need to be 'Fall'? In my part of the world we don't use that term, we say 'Autumn'.

Meg (megscl) | 2466 comments Hi Mary, the day I joined goodreads (Dec 13 2012) I added about 200 books to my tbr. Since they all have the same date added (Dec 13 2012) can I read any of them, or do I have to read the ten that get sorted at the top?

I would stick with the 10 sorted at the top to keep it simple. Most likely they were the first ones added that day time wise.

Melissa Harris | 81 comments I want to confirm my #9 book on my TBR list as of today is Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children (eligible for Option 1).

You need to provide a link to your list.

Book Concierge (tessabookconcierge) | 4447 comments Mary ... re Option 1 ... I don't keep my tbr on goodreads.

But I've had this book on my tbr since it came out in 1999 ... Plainsong by Kent Haruf

Would that suffice?

You can use any TBR list you have. It does not have to be on Goodreads. So if that is one of your 10 oldest your good to go.

Yes the link worked, and it does confirm Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children is #9 on the list.
