For some reason, this did not bother me as much as with some other books. For one thing, I think Noah has seen that Dylan needs to get his head on straight and his heart in order before he can be as effective an operative, not to mention that Dylan needs to get his feelings for Jamie out in the open. It was a long trip to that, though, wasn't it?Noah knew that Dylan would do the training with care, but they both wanted to keep Jamie out of the main action -- can't forget this!
It didn't bug me at all, especially later when Dylan observed the changes in Noah after meeting and marrying Samara. Most of these operatives tend to come from dark places, as did Noah, and he seems determined to share the lifeline he was given through the love and affection of a committed partner. His method isn't obtrusive...he just creates the possibility and it's up to the couple to take it from there.
This didn't bother me, I thought it'd be great to see how they handle each other. How it developed wasn't as great/special as the other couples.
