I need some help. I left blogger and came over to wordpress. I have spent all morning searching and reading about how to add plug-ins to my blog. All I want to do is increases the options in the word editor. This is apparently done through a plug-in. When I go to my dashboard it seems that I am supposed to see a button that says "plug-ins" just below the "appearance" button . . . no such button on my dashboard! Am I missing something?

Yep, that is what I thought I had to see - sending a pic of mine . . . no plug-in button. Do you have a paid-for version of wordpress? Maybe the free version does not have it?
Ah yes I do have a self hosted one. I pay R9-R36 a month, that is why my layout and theme is different.
Mmm check with Lauren S? I don't think she pays for hers.
Brb going to the gym.

If you're using the free version from Wordpress.com, it won't have the plugins tab.
If you have your own hosting, then you should have it available.

Thank you, Mohammed. I only have the free version for now. Still trying to figure things out. The only sad thing is that word editor has so few options!
