Thanks for the recs! Just love Robin Hood tales :)
Just finished reading Daughter of the Empire and loved every second of it! Intrigue in a very layered society full of traditions and laws.
I've already started with Servant of the Empire and the stage is widening, totally eager to keep reading. Coming from Janny Wurts' solo works I can see her hand very well! I've never read Feist before, but I will read the Riftwar Saga, absolutely!
The main character, Mara, is very engaging, not a whimpering wallflower nor a violent chick in chainmail. So refreshing!

Bill (kernos) | 334 comments It's either raining bathtubs here or too hot to be outside, so I am indulging in escapist lit. I am on book 7 of the Star Trek: New Frontier Series and intend to read all 18 published so far.

What fun! No thinking required ;-)

Tani | 132 comments Just finished up Gemini Cell by Myke Cole. Most certainly his best book yet, but profoundly disturbing in the sheer distrust in the government that it inspires in me.

Next up is Midnight Tides, and I'm almost on time starting this time!

I finished Faithful Place and it was just as good as the first two in the series - I'm not a mystery reader, really, but any book with well-drawn characters will captivate me and Tana French excels at that.

Trying to decide what to read next and my library loan came through for My Life with Stephen (I requested it after seeing the film "Theory of Everything", which was based on it, over the winter), so I guess that's up next. Then probably back to something SF/F.

Ken (ogi8745) | 1430 comments Finished Scalzi's The Ghost Brigades. Not bad, light reading.

Just watched the season 4 finale of B5. Put me into the mind of an older book. So I am reading A Canticle For Leibowitz

I'm doing a re-watch of B5, too! I'm midway thru season 5, but I've stopped for a while. Honesty, I think I'm reluctant to continue because then it will be, well, finished. And I don't want it to end..

Canticle for Leibowitz is one of my all-time favorites. I have an old paperback copy that I stole, yes STOLE from my high school many years ago. I promise that I am generally scrupulously honest about returning books, but I just couldn't bear to part with this one.

Mike (mikespencer) | 48 comments I'm currently reading The Magician's Land by Lev Grossman and Abaddon's Gate by James S.A. Corey. Enjoying them both immensely so far.

Lulu (robotwitch) | 65 comments I've been having an off month, having only finished one book in the first three weeks! But yesterday, I finally got around to absolutely devouring the last 70% of The Goblin Emperor. I'm not going to go as far as label it 'favourite', but it was excellent. Straight-forward, upbeat and generally one of the most optimistic fantasies I've ever read. I think someone was right when they called it a "fantasy of manners". Also, the cultures and world was fascinating, plus Addison has a talent for making even the most minor of characters vivid and memorable.

Going to start Memory of Water at last today, and will be reading Uprooted alongside it :)

message 60: by Clélie (new)

Clélie Rich I have just started Uprooted, which so far is excellent. After that, I plan to read Station Eleven, and then The Three-Body Problem.

Ken (ogi8745) | 1430 comments Well some bad news. I had to put Canticle back on the shelf. I left my reading glasses at the baseball diamond Wednesday night. Not a happy camper. Can't read the small print. Luckly a friend of mine found them and she left them on my desk at work.

Started reading something on my ereader, thank god for font size adjustments.
Reading The Long Run: A Tale of the Continuing Time

Chris, B5 is my all time favorite show. I spent the whole winter watching it with my son. He seems to like it. He isnt a gregarous guy but he hasnt complained.

I really loved The Three-Body Problem! I hope you find it equally enjoyable :)

Oh, I loved that book!

Justine (justine_ao) | 636 comments I just finished Midnight Tides, which I thought was excellent. I enjoyed this book the most so far in the Malazan series. I'm now reading The Tyrant's Law before I start on the BOTM picks for July.
