Team 1:
Amanda - 2 books pots 15
Susan - 3 books pots-2015
Charity - 1 book POTS Session 3
Lahni - 1 book challenge-maybes

Remember: When picking books for team members, you pick the number they signed up for plus one. For example, I signed up for three books, so each person will pick four books for me to choose from.

Wow! Choosing was easy this time around. I was able to choose only books that I've given 5 stars.

The Hunger Games

Charity:
Ender's Game
The Thirteenth Tale

Lahni:
Xenocide
A Thousand Splendid Suns

Thanks, Amanda.

I decided to try something new for this session. I added all the books from my "considering" shelf to my POTS list. Before, I'd been putting only my LOST and Moving Mountains books there, so people were picking from books I'd be reading anyway. This way, you're helping me pick among ones I hadn't decided for sure whether to read. It makes the game a bit more fun.

So now I have to go read about the ones you chose, and see where to start.

I've read both Rumble Fish ( my favourite S.E. Hinton ) and Station Eleven, and enjoyed both, so hopefully you like them if you choose. Ice Cream Star is interesting, I'm reading it as it was chosen last round, but I got to it late.

I like Ian McEwan, but haven't gotten around to Solar yet.

And now my kiddo is sick, so no car time and audio book for me!

Charity | 577 comments Here are my picks for everyone. I've read all these books and enjoyed them...some better than others but all worthy reads.

Amanda:
The Big Sleep
The Woman in White
Prince Caspian

Susan:
The Secret History - one of my recent favorites
City of Lost Souls
Life After Life
The Stolen Crown: The Secret Marriage that Forever Changed the Fate of England

Lahni:
The Night Circus-another recent favorite
The Lovely Bones

Enjoy!

Now that everyone has proposed books, I've made some tentative choices for myself. I'll try to read:

Solar or Station Eleven
The Secret History
The Girl on the Train (if I can get it in time -- I'm 22 of 59 on the waiting list).

Charity | 577 comments I think I will try for Looking for Alaska. Hoepfully I can squeeze it in. I feel like this month is already filling up but I guess I have next month too?

I finished The Secret History. I guess I liked it ok overall, but there are a lot of things about it I wasn't thrilled with -- the characters didn't seem that sympathetic to me, and there was way too much drugs and drinking (those two facts are probably not unconnected). And in general, I'm not a huge fan of boarding school stories; this wasn't one, really, but it certainly seemed a lot like it.

Amanda | 380 comments I finished The Blind Assassin, took longer than I had hoped due to lots of time off work, and I listen in the car.

I enjoyed it, not quite sure I still know which character featured in a certain part of it, I am a little confused by it. I am still very undecided when it comes to Atwood. I enjoy her short stories, loved her Maddaddam trilogy, but the rest of it hasn't bitten me yet.

Lahni | 660 comments I have Son on hold at the library so hopefully I'll get it in time! Haven't decided what my plan B is yet.

I finished Station Eleven. I liked it, probably would give it 3.5 if I could. But it wasn't at all what I expected. The best thing about it was the characters. I didn't exactly like the way the story jumped around among people, places, and times.

I have The Girl on the Train out of the library for my last one.

I finished The Girl on the Train. Like the Secret History, I didn't find the characters very sympathetic, but the plot was a good one. I gave it 3 stars.

Amanda | 380 comments Read The Hunger Games and really liked it. Wondering if I can squeeze in a third book by the end of the month, which would probably be The Kite Runner. Depends how much time I spend in bed over the weekend, since I have a procedure on Saturday, and am not sure how I'll feel after.

Charity | 577 comments I'm still working on my 1 - I get too distracted by other challenges. But I'm hoping to finish Ender's Game or Looking for Alaska as they are currently on my Reader's Pursuit shelves as well. Here's hoping!

message 19: by Lahni (new)

Lahni | 660 comments I'm STILL waiting for Son from the library! And since it fits into my Reader's pursuit I'm sticking with it. I have A Thousand Splendid Suns worked in to RP as well but won't be getting to it this month I don't think since I have a couple of other big books I've started that I need to finish. This round has turned out to be a flop for me as far a reading goes but I'm happy I got a couple of my choices worked into RP!

Charity | 577 comments I managed to finish reading Looking for Alaska for this session! I'm so excited I completed one when it wasn't looking so good initially! :-) I thought it was ok, but get frustrated with some of John Green's novels of wild teenagers with angst and entitlement. Although it was better than Paper Towns.
