The impression I have of Peter is someone who is more civilized and refined than Ethan. I could definitely see him giving in to the GP in order to remain diplomatic.
I thought this was a bit odd. It felt to me like an under supported plot point that was conveniently placed to move the story in the right direction. What I wonder though is if the other Houses all have the same types of agreements with the GP. If they do then I could buy that it was just SOP for dealing with the GP. It didn't bother me deeply or anything. I just wondered about it.
To give the GP all the profits since the date of membership was outrageous. It made no sense. That's a good question, Erin, re the other house's contracts.

I agree Lauren. All of the houses probably have the same contract with the GP for their protection. Kind of feels like a mafia tactic.
