Since our membership has exploded, I thought I'd make a topic for introductions/ice breakers.

Introduce yourself, and share your thoughts on any/all of the following book-related questions:

1.) What's the best book to read after a relationship break-up?

2.) What book to re-read again and again?

3.) You can only take one book with you, which is it?

4.) What's your favorite childhood book?

I'll go first! I'm Alexis, I've been a librarian at the Almonte library since it opened 2 1/2 years ago and I love my job!

If I could only take one book with me, it would be The Crimson Petal and the White by Michel Faber. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/4...

My favorite childhood book is probably Winnie the Pooh: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/9...

or maybe the Wind in the Willows:

Mary | 2 comments Hello! My name is Mary and I'm a Public Computer Specialist over at the Midwest City Library.

My favorite book to reread is The Glass Castle because of the mix of horrible tragedies and touching moments...

Though Room is a very close second!

If I could only take one book with me (to a deserted island, maybe?), it would be Hatchet for the survival aspects

My favorite childhood book would be Little House on the Prairie, Matilda, or the Underland Chronicles #1

I'd also like to remind everyone that Summer Reading starts June 1st! Sign up here!

Becki (beckisbookshelf) I'm Becki, the NW OKC library is essentially my home. I am a book blogger and mom of three.

The book I've reread the most is The Giver because it's a fast read with a lot to say.

The Harry Potter books are still my favorite childhood read (even though I was in high school and college when they came out). Other than those, Sarah, Plain and Tall or Shiloh were some of my favorites

I've been a member for almost a year now but haven't been able to read along much recently due to work. Looking forward to the summer reading program!

Allison (allisonb86) | 5 comments Hi I'm Allison I'm an aspiring social worker just moved back to OKC from Tulsa. My all time favorite book to read over and over is The unbearable lightness of being. And I'd have to say the Harry Potter series the. The Hunger Game series are my favorite young adult books.

MJ | 7 comments hi everyone - I'm MJ Means, a stay at home mom that loves to read.
my book to read over and over is Pride & Prejudice. can never get enough of Elizabeth and Darcy.
the book I'd take with me is the next one on my to-read list - I'm forever trying to get through it!
and my favorite childhood book is Charlotte's Web.
as for a book to read after a break up...huh, I don't know about that. maybe something with a tough girl like hunger games - someone able to really fight back and be strong!

Amanda | 39 comments My name is Amanda. I am a reading & book club addict. I am also a licensed veterinary nurse, currently self-employed as a pet sitter. I don't like to read books twice, as there are too many new books out there that I would like to read just once. I read everything in the children's section of our library when I was a kid. I especially liked mysteries and books with animal protagonists. I am currently in two in-person ladies book clubs (Edmond/NW OKC) that are both looking for new members. If you are interested in joining, message me!

Gwen (gwendy2883) | 1 comments Hi! I'm Gwen, living in the mid-del area. I've loved to read since I learned how at age 7. I've loved libraries ever since, too.

1.) What's the best book to read after a relationship break-up? Not sure

2.) What book to re-read again and again? Gone With the Wind

3.) You can only take one book with you, which is it? Whichever one I'm currently reading.

4.) What's your favorite childhood book? The Anne of Green Gables series

Jennifer Kubica | 11 comments Hello! I'm Jennifer. Nanny/substitute teacher. Love to read. Don't always find the time. :/

I don't really have a good relationship break-up book.
Just one book I re-read every few years.. Jane Eyre
If I could only take one book?? Probably the Bible bc I would really like to read it cover to cover and haven't. (Don't judge me as super religious/judgemental based on that... I just think Christian or not.. the Bible has a lot to offer and I'd like to benefit from it... plus if I gain a relationship with God out of it ... that would be a plus)
Favorite childhood book?? wow. probably a three way tie between three series. The Little House books, Anne of Green Gables series, and The Chronicles of Narnia.

Just as a little extra.. I really enjoy books out of the YA section. Many times they are fun filled entertainment and a good escape from reality. My most recent reads are books 1 and 2 of The Underland Chronicles. I'm currently reading the third.

Looking forward to seeing what August has in store here. :)

Cheryl Shults | 7 comments Hi. I'm Cheryl and I am the school librarian at Belle Isle Enterprise Middle School. I have been a voracious reader for as long as I can remember and was absolutely thrilled to learn about this online book club.

I can't think of a particular book to read after a break-up...probably something where the cad who does the dumping is given his comeuppance in a fairly spectacular way.

Aside from the Bible, the one book I would absolutely take with me is "To Kill A Mockingbird". I would definitely leave "Go Set A Watchman" at home.

I can't think of one favorite children's book, I will say that, because of my job, I read a lot of YA books. Neal Shusterman is one of my favorites. His "Unwind" dystology is a favorite.

Good to meet you, Cheryl!

I agree with you on Go Set a Watchman--I read about 50-60 pages and nothing was happening, so I abandoned it.

I hope you enjoy our laid back, online book club. Feel free to read or comment on any of our previous reads if you like!
