It's very annoying to work, when the Internet is down and the library you work at has an Internet based library system. And almost all the customers want something more than the basic loaning (which is the only thing I can currently do). The problem is only in landline (cable), since mobile internet/Wifi works fine.

Totally agree. The internet is designed to irritate us.
It's pouring here and I'm supposed to be going food shopping. I should have gone first thing when there was sunshine.

Another work related rant, this time about customers. There's this one family who loans a ton of books and each time they return some of them back to us, the books feel all sticky and sandy, but instead of sand the books are full of breadcrums and that kind of stuff. Then we have to wipe the most hideous books up gently with a moist cloth so that other people can loan them as well and it's kinda yucky thing to do, especially when some books have foodstains on their covers. How come some people can't take care of other peoples (or librarys) stuff? Thanks, now I got myself winded up a bit, so I can have my prolonged weekend (Friday is off, because I worked on last Saturday) start fresh!
That is gross. We have pupils who bring back reading books that reek of smoke. I always think that's foul.
So...ticked off at customers.....nearly crushed by them, this past Grey Thursday, as they call it here now.
All for a silly coupon. I happily greeted them and wished them a Happy Holiday and in return they battered me.
It was mostly mental....but that can be worse.
I'm sending you a hug, cuppa and slice of cake. Poor you. I went to Leeds today to meet a friend, I was stunned by the amount of people with ridiculous amount of shopping. I don't really get the concept of black Friday, particularly over four days.
I don't have much to buy most years. This year almost zero. But really, for those that do shop, is it worth fighting over?
These so called deals, turn people into monsters.
I do most of my shopping online starting in January. Messed up this year and didn't get anything bought or wrapped until July but I usually have the boys edit their Amazon wish lists, adding new stuff and deleting whatever they've either bought for themselves or been given. I just figure it's less 'painful' money wise to buy one or two a month than a shopping cart full the day after Thanksgiving or (shudder) Christmas Eve like I did one year when they were little.
I always shopped on Christmas eve until I became mum. We don't have thanksgiving, do you do gifts for that?
we're lucky we can get together for Thanksgiving - hubby and the boys are in NorCal and my job sent me to Phoenix, AZ. The only gift would be our smiling faces
Helen, food and family, is the gift on Thanksgiving.Though, evidently, it's becoming a thing of the past.
That does sound nice. I have a little boy in my class who is always talking about how much he loves his family, it's really sweet as the others no longer think it's cool. They're 7-8.
I have so much uni work to do but it's too hot to be bothered. I am so jealous of all you northern hemisphere dwellers :(

People who get stroppy when I politely mention I am not American, and thus don't celebrate Thanksgiving, when I get bombarded with 'what are you doing for Thanksgiving' etc questions.I get the well excuuuuuuse me!! snark.
Um, the world isn't made of the USA, and non-USA aren't obligated or expected to practice a tradition that isn't there's!

Sorry to hear that.
:(
I find, when people react that way, they are mostly embarrassed. Catches them off guard.
That being said.....Thanksgiving is a wonderful time for families to gather and be thankful for good things. Hmmmm...especially foooood. Yum.
;)

Ditto here. And it's smelled like rain for the last half-week, despite forecasts that we won't get any for another 6 days!

but when I can't get a word in edgewise to warn that it's going over my head and I'm not American, because they're asking me a hundred quesfions like what did I do last year, this year's plan, who's visiting, what recipes... I'd like to see a bit of the thanksgiving cheer when I politely stop them in mid stream :( would they rather I tune out or lie, THEN embarrass them an hour or days later? Lol!
We got 6+ inches of snow today. I had to shovel three times. It's annoying, but it's not as bad as some of the places I've lived before. We once got a foot of snow, freezing temps, and our power was out for a week.My poor dog is only 6 inches tall, so it's funny to watch her forge through the snow, even though I shoveled her a potty patch.

Where are you? I'm in the north of England, I can send you loads. Cumbria is under so much water, some people won't be home for months. It's so horrendous seeing it on the news.
Snow, I love snow. Well when I'm not walking through slush or compared icy stuff. Our too cold or wet....
Your poor wee dog, bless'

We've had a very rainy December here in Minnesota. Needless to say, this is not what we usually expect.
I know. My kindle fire has gone demented. It won't do i, it's replacing alsorts usually with gibberish.
I have a feeling like this year is going on for months already. And everything has just started for me; exams and lots of books I need to read for university, but I want to read other books too, so I´m just switching from one book to another. For example, I read Dragonbone Chair and my eye catches Three Kingdoms, so I switch and then I remember the mad duke Alec and switch to The Privilege of the Sword but then I stress over not studying so I pick up A History of India. It´s annoying me. I want to read them all the same time but I also want days to pass faster. I want February to come.
The year is going too far already. I don't like reading more than one book at a time although I will now read between a series, rather than just the series.
So it's been a relatively mild winter here in MN thus far. But we're looking at two weekends in a row (last weekend and this) where the high never gets about zero Farenheit (-17C) with windchills 10-15 degrees below that, which plays merry hob with any plans I might have to actually go out into the world.
And I thought it was bad at 18°F....as I'm trying to convince myself to walk to the mailbox! There's got to be a book inside.
In my defense, it's been unseasonably warm, this year.
60° a week ago...straight down to freezing.
We've been okay temperature wise but it's trained constantly for weeks. I'm so fed up of being damp. I'm beginning to envy car owners.
I'm mostly cranky because it's zeroing with laser-like efficiency on the weekend days -- today it's actually going to get close to 20 ...And yeah, as a person who relies pretty much exclusively on walking and busing, it makes it a challenge. There's a concert Sunday night that I was kind of hoping to see, but if it's below zero with a double digit windchill, I'll probably just spend the night at home.
I ordered it on the 9th and it said, it shipped on the 10th.But not due here till Feb. 2.
Maybe they're walking it. : []
*My hope is it's the last possible date.*
2 degrees here, feels very cold outside. I had to bid home as I couldn't face walking. Doesn't help that school has no heating, feed up of arriving cold, working cold, leaving cold...
Brenda, I could probably post a book to you faster! I'm grumpy for you.

Your probably right about that.
Normally, I wouldn't care, but it's the book I should be reading with FBCS in January.
If it's not here till February.......
Grrrrr
*Update~ My book is here!Hard to be grumpy now....paid $4, and it's the larger sized trade paperback!
