Carolynn Garcia | 2 comments This childrens book was about these 5 elves, i think, may have been pixies or something, and they are known by the number of buttons they have (one button, two button, etc). They go on a picnic but lose their food crossing a stream, so they steal these baked goodies from a lady and go eat them all. But then they get so fat their buttons pop off and they don't know which is which anymore. So they are distraught and ask everyone how they can figure out who they are and are told to ask the lady they stole from because she is very wise. So they go apologize for stealing from her and she tells them what sillies they are, for though their buttons popped off, they still have the same number of buttonholes. And they laugh and agree, "what sillies we are!" and sew their buttons back on.

I read this probably 25 years ago, as a child. I think it was intended for children in the 4-7 age range. I had 2 other books that were the same in their cover design, they may have been sold together, and some of the books had 2 stories in them.

I don't see that edition on goodreads or amazon. It seems like the title has changed too.
