I think I can easily cover the Pulitzer (The Road), the Academy Award (Blindness) and humor (several options). Do you think there will be any more categories added?
Debra wrote: "I've got 1 Nobel Prize book picked, 2 Adult Industry, and 1 for humor. That means I'm committing to 3 or 4 books. Unless, there is a problem with me reading 2 in the same category."No problem reading 2 in the same category :)
Stephanie wrote: "I may need some help finding books..i will one maybe two depending what I can find. The books I read usually don't have an award attached..that I've noticed anyways ;-)"You'll probably find some good books when the rest of the awards are posted :)
Dawn's joined our team. Hooray!I've been bad about posting in my own team, but I just want to say it looks like we have a great team!! I'll be more active here after I finish getting the Toppler posted.
I usually read about 8-12 books for these week long topplers so we'll see how well I do this time. I've got about 20 books already picked out that fit the themes and I've put them on hold at the library so I think I'm all set.
So far I have books that would fit for the following categories: Academy award
Emmy award
Beauty
Sports
I will commit to at least 2 books :) I may be able to fit in up to 4 but it depends on how fast I read this time around :)
Stephanie wrote: "I edited post 2 so we have the theme and such. I copied and pasted since I'm on my phone."Thanks!
There are some more awards/themes in the second post of the general June toppler topic. If you have time, could you add those too? Just in case there are people who refer only to this thread and would otherwise miss half of the options :)
@jaxnsmom well I do have lots of books that have pictures of dogs on them that I have been meaning to read ;-) @Peggy yep! Just saw them. I will get it edited today :-) it is about 7:30am here. I set my alarm for 6am but just couldn't pull myself out of bed yet. I stayed up too late watching Harry Potter :-)
I just got back from vacation on Friday and was too exhausted to do much of anything for the rest of the weekend. I'm back to reality (work) today, so I haven't checked in on goodreads much. It will take me quite a while to catch up on all of the posts I missed, but I wanted to say hello to my wonderful toppler team while I have a minute! **Waves**I've skimmed through the toppler categories, but I have no idea what I'll read yet. I can commit to one book for sure, maybe two. And I'll definitely be a cheerleader! **GO CHAPTER CRUSHERS!**
There is such a broad range of choices that it is hard to pick what to read. I'm collecting possibles. So far, I have two Pulitzer Prize winning plays ("A Streetcar named Desire" and "A Long Day's Journey into Night"), a Booker winner, The Sea (appealing partly because, at 195 pages, it is about as short as it could be and still qualify), and A Stranger in Olandria, http://smallbeerpress.com/books/2013/... which qualifies as a World Fantasy Winner, a Nebula nominee, and the product of a small press. I'm still looking, though.
I think I am going to work on the Emmy ones (the TV shows). I've been eyeing the Temperance Brennan books and the ones based on Castle.
Such fun series, Nicole! I've read both. Some of the books are better than others in the series! Hope you like them :)
I'm sure there are plenty of other TV series that are based on books. True Blood is based on a series of books that were much better than the HBO show.

I like our team name. When I think of Chapter Crushers, I think of Wesley Crusher (STNG), which leads me to Wil Wheaton, which leads me to thinking about how awesome an audiobook narrator he is, which leads to remembering how much fun I had listening to him narrate Ready Player One.
Nicole wrote: "I think I am going to work on the Emmy ones (the TV shows). I've been eyeing the Temperance Brennan books and the ones based on Castle."Sorry, but the Castle books won't count - they're books that came about because of a tv show.
Nicole wrote: "I read those though, unless re-reads count. The same goes for Outlander."Re-reads would count as long as it wasn't just skimmed, in case you need to know.
Jmom, I'm not actually reading any that need this but when I read this:Emmy Award for Television
An Emmy Award recognizes excellence in the television industry.
Read a book that was made into, or based on, a television show or made for tv movie.
I think it sounds like the books can be based on the show and vice versa. I'm just thinking that if this isn't so it might need to be reworded.
I guess since we can read whatever category and don't need to be strategic, we don't necessarily need a spreadsheet for planning (unless someone would like to make one, of course). It would be good to have someone who will start the reporting thread for us when we're closer to the start of the toppler, and who can keep track of the read books/categories and our points in the first post (or in spreadsheet, whatever is easier). Normally I wouldn't mind doing that, but I won't be at home or with regular internet acces on 19th and 20th (and also not the 21th, for people who report a bit later), so that wouldn't be very convenient.
I thought of Wesley Crusher as well :) I love the episodes of the Big Bang Theory with him :) I absolutely loved the book Ready Player One! I still want to listen to it at some point...just have other books I want to read first :)
Now that I saw that Bram Stoker Awards are added, I'm pretty sure I'm going to read Rot and Ruin. Have had it on my TBR a while. Although, it's part of another series I'll have to keep up with!
Lol everything seems to be part of a series now and every time I think I am finished they release another. I see a new one for fifty shades of grey on here now
I really wish I could reply to individual comments on the app but thanks JMom. The others came first so it shouldn't be an issue.
So I was going to try and get organized a bit today. It doesn't say that we have to do every category specifically but what do we as a group think we should try to read together?
I got looking at my schedule again and I am on days not nights so I can do the reporting thread and work on a spreadsheet to get us organized. What do you think I am off work today so just let me know how I can help :)

I am able to do the spreadsheet or just the reporting thread to keep track I work days so I should be able to update in the evenings
That would be awesome, Tasha!! Thank you :-) It definitely would be nice if we can get each category covered but I don't want to make anyone take a category they don't want or not interested in reading..hmmmm...
Debra wrote: "Now that I saw that Bram Stoker Awards are added, I'm pretty sure I'm going to read Rot and Ruin. Have had it on my TBR a while. I'm sooo proud of myself! I really don't need to start another series just now.
Peggy wrote: "Thanks Tasha! :)"your welcome and it is no problem I like organizing and I am always interested to see what everyone is reading
