Okay everyone, if you haven't read about the ABNA BOOK CLUB yet, I suggest you read all about it and the rules HERE.

Since this is a brand new group and our shelves aren't exactly full yet. I've decided to put ALL of the books on the polls for now (instead of just five each). Which means some polls have a lot of books, and some have only a few.

I know we all are excited to have everyone read our stories, but please..ONLY VOTE IF YOU PLAN ON PARTICIPATING! In other words, don't just vote for your own book and then disappear. If that happens I will remove your book from our bookshelf and any future polls.

There are quite a few books on our shelf that I am very anxious to read and discuss, so I personally will not be voting for my own book.

This is going to be a lot of fun (I hope!) But please bare with me, since this the first group I've ever started. I'm sure there will be some kinks to work out, but I'll do my best!

The polls open FEB 9th and will close FEB 28th!

Alright, I'm confused. I want to participate in more than one discussion, it seems like I can only vote to enter one book from each different group. Is this so? Or is voting different than joining the discussion on that book? Please explain. Thank you

You can vote on as many of the 5 polls and participate in as many of the discussions that you want to. Did this answer your question? I'm kind of confused about what you're confused about :\

I don't know, but I am guessing that after the cut is made next Wednesday the make up up of this group will change pretty much dramatically, those who make it sticking around, and those that don't moving on as they are not really in the competition any longer.

I didn't think this was a competition. Whoever we don't read this month, we get the following month, or the month after, right? This is a book discussion group, all the books will get read sooner or later. That was my understanding, anyway.

I try to click on another book in the group and it won't take my vote. It takes me to the book but it doesn't register my vote to read it.

Dan, you are talking about the ABNA competition. (which is why we all joined this group in the first place)

If you read the topic of this thread, WE are talking about the ABNA BOOK CLUB that we have started. So Nikki, you are right.

Maryann, I'm not sure why you are having trouble. I've seen a couple people have votes are the separate polls. Are you trying to vote for 2 books in one poll? If so, that's not going to be able to happen. But you should be able to vote for ONE book in EACH of the 5 polls.

I think Dan was saying that he thought some people might drop off from here if they don't get through the first round of the ABNA competition, which could happen, but doesn't have to happen. It's all about what kind of community is built here, and whether or not somebody might want to stay around and still have their book read by others or simply enjoy the community. I think it is a valid point. If I, for example, don't get through and end up not sticking around, then I'd be taking up space and time if I kept my book up here. Anyway, I figured the book club might help keep people here regardless.

I know what he was saying, but I was clarifying it for Nikki because his comment confused her. Anyone who is willing to stick around for book discussions and other fun topics is, of course, more than welcome to. If someone wants to leave after the contest is over, that's fine too. I think everyone knows that. This group will hopefully become more of a group for writers that want to help each other out. But we'll have to stick around to see what happens.

I'm really looking forward to reading some of these (I want to read all the sci-fi/fantasy ones, but I can only vote for one... so I voted for the one I want to read first!)
