An Offer From a Gentleman (Bridgertons #3) by Julia Quinn; Start Date: March 11, 2013
I like the gold one, or the one with the shoe. This is the one that's a Cinderella retelling, isn't it?
Yes, Susan, it is the retelling of Cinderella. Loved it the first time; let me see if it still holds up.I love those same covers! LOL!
I like the blue dress one second from bottom left side, though not right style for the period lol. I kinda like the one above it too, though again wrong style for the period, and the girl looks a little snooty. But it catches my eye. Holy frizzy hair on the second from top right side one! Wow that's an ugly hairdo. The one I have is the yellowish one on the top right. It's ok but not very pretty.

My question is, what the hell hair color does this poor heroine have, anyway?
Yea that's from the nicer version of the yellow one isn't it? With the stepback? Mine's a reprint I think... no stepback. But they put the stripe of blueish color on the side still like a trick. >.<
I like the first one with the whimsy drawings. It probably isn't an acurate drawing but I like the simplicity of it. I stopped by a second hand book store on my trip in to town two weeks ago and picked up a lot of this series but they didn't have this one. The Library bus should be bringing it to me on the 4th so I don't know what cover I'll have.
Can't wait to read this one! :)I think the best cover is the one on the upper right... None of them are really that great in my opinion.
I've got to go dig in my "Q" box in the garage and see if I can find this in paperback. I'm pretty sure I have it...
I am soooooo ready to start this. I wanted to make sure I had it so I requested from two libriaries, one got me a paperback and one got me the e-version. I need to finish another book for another challenge so I probably won't get to start until Tuesday though.
Oooh beautiful stepback, Lisa K. This stepback is my favorite from all Bridgerton book, next to Romancing Mr Bridgerton, of course :)
So, did anyone start this one? I did last night. Man-oh-man! That step-mother really pushes my buttons. Isn't it interesting how some villains push your buttons more than others?
I just finished and I loved it!!! Yeah Lisa Kay Araminta was a real bitch! I really liked the Cinderella style of this one. Soooooo good!
I finished it this morning. I loved seeing Violet get all mean and sassy for Sophie. Benedict was very arrogant, in my opinion. I didn't laugh as much, but I did shed some tears (for both Sophie and Penelope). I'm looking forward to Hyacinth's book after getting to know her a little in here.

oh I remember that! Poor Penelope :(
to be honest Benedick/Sophie is my least favorite couple, they just way to romance-y, I much prefer I-love-you-but-you-irritated-the-hell-out-of-me kind of couple like Kate/Anthony and Colin/Penelope
I agree June. I am ok with an instant atttraction, "you are mine" type situation in a paranormal romance. But in a historical or contemporary with the love at first sight is unbeliveable. I belive in instant attraction or lust, but not instant love. And while at the point I am in the book neither has admitted love, the whole bit with Benedict feeling shivers when she was watching him in the pond was a bit hokey.
I really liked this, I knew from the word go that this was a retelling of the Cinderella type story, and so I was expecting fairytale love. My heart did go out to Penelope too! Was a bit confused with the timing at the end, though... seems like such a long time to past with no other Bridgerton romance.
The epilogue did jump far into the future. I still wonder who Lady Whistledown is. I loved Benedict and Sophie's romance it was very fairy tale-ish :) perfect for this :)
Now see, I loved the whole "seeing her across a crowded ballroom" thing. That worked for me; I thought that night was magical. I did think he was a bit of a jerk about the mistress stuff, but it was realistic. I think I might have knock this down a star... but let me finish it and think on it some more.
Kit★ wrote: "I like the blue dress one second from bottom left side, though not right style for the period lol."Oh, and now I realize why this dress does work...as this was the she wore to the masquerade ball. Of course, it isn't what I had in my mind at all!
Lisa Kay, I'm also a sucker for love at first sight. I also felt their interactions at the ball were magical.
Well it was hopefully romantic. I consumed this book finishing it all in one day. It really was the only scene at the pond that seemed hokey to me the rest of it was magical. Can't wait to find out who Lady Whistledown is. I hope she doesn't stop writting though I would miss her.
This book and benedict are my least favorite because of the way he insisted that she become his mistress. He was so arrogant!
I thought we already knew who Whistledown was??? Haven't we already been told or am I just assuming I know??
CaroB wrote: "I thought we already knew who Whistledown was??? Haven't we already been told or am I just assuming I know??"Nope. As of this book, it was still a mystery.
Oh, I know I haven't read ahead, but I have a very clear idea in my head of it is, and I thought it was because something had been given away in one of the books. Ok, now it'll be interesting to see if I'm right. Pamela, if I message you, will you let me know yes / no?

Susan (susayq) wrote: "I think Whistledown is one of the Bridgertons. I won't say which one though ;)"I suspect it is as well... and if not then she becomes a Bridgerton.
I was a bad bad girl I may have snuck ahead and started Romancing Mister Bridgerton. That scene on the steps really made me wonder how that all resolved itself. (view spoiler)

Sophie Beckett never dreamed she′d be able to sneak into Lady Bridgerton′s famed masquerade ball - or that "Prince Charming" would be waiting there for her. Though the daughter of an earl, Sophie has been relegated to the role of servant by her disdainful stepmother. But now, spinning in the strong arms of the debonair and devastatingly handsome Benedict Bridgerton, she feels like royalty. Alas, she knows all enchantments must end when the clock strikes midnight.
Who was that extraordinary woman? Ever since that magical night, a radiant vision in silver has blinded Benedict to the attractions of any other - except, perhaps, this alluring and oddly familiar beauty dressed in housemaid′s garb whom he feels compelled to rescue from a most disagreeable situation. He has sworn to find and wed his mystery miss, but this breathtaking maid makes him weak with wanting her. Yet, if he offers her his heart, will Benedict sacrifice his only chance for a fairy tale love?
