Please feel free to use this discussion board to post your reviews. That way I can read everything you read and avoid being my own person for as long as possible.

Tui Allen (tuibird) | 1 comments Does Pequod remind you of Moby Dick? Should we read that? I read it once and found it a mine of information about whaling but often a long time between bits of story action. Am I correct in thinking that Pequod was the name of the ship? It's along time since i read it.

The Pequod is from Moby Dick, yes. I would never tell anyone they should read Moby Dick (you certainly don't have to in order to join the group), but it is one of my favorite books. That mine of information about whaling often features the most poetic sections of the book. Melville can write poetically and philosophically about a bowl of chowder. I recommend, if you're a lover a language, revisiting some chapters if not the whole book. I will pick it up and read a chapter from time to time and it is like reading from a great book of poetry.
