Thank you, thank you, for your quick response, Christina! I'm going to try to do this right away.

Thanks, G.G. I've fixed the problem, based on Christina's helpful info below. It only had the ASIN on the book details page, so it turned out that switching to ISBN was the key.

Alistair Potter | 1 comments Hi folks,

This question will come under the 'stupid newbie' (me) category, and has probably been asked so many times before, but likely it will involve me trawling through a couple of hundred entries to find the answer...

I've got kindle ebook versions of my novels listed on goodreads with their ASIN numbers - I'm 'rolling out' paperback versions using createspace, which means I now have ISBN numbers. I want to add my paperback versions to goodreads, (good to get my novels/ISBN's onto 'as many book databases as I can?) so what's the best way;

1) edit my existing entries by adding the ISBNs?
(will this overwrite the existing book data? or am I just being an over-cautious worry-wart?)

2) create a second entry for the book, duplicating the blurb etc. but using the ISBN, and then 'merge' the two book listings?

3) some really obvious third option I'm just not spotting?

Any advice appreciated!

Thanks, Alistair.

G.G. (ggatcheson) | 2491 comments Alistair, normally I would say start your own thread for two reasons, first you are taking over a thread from someone else, and it's a) against the rules b) not nice for the original poster c) you have less chances to be seen and answered, but in this particular instance the original poster has been answered and I feel 'nice'. ;)

You need to create a second entry for the paperback and then you will have the option to combine both versions so they are on the same page.

Hey G.G.,

I'm a little confused by your comment here. I thought this was the thread for asking Goodreads questions, which is what Alistair was doing. Where should they be posted if this isn't the place? Just curious.

message 307: by Susan (new)

Susan | 25 comments I had another Goodreads author contact me about one of my books, asking if I owned the rights to it. She wanted to translate it into Spanish. I've had subsequent correspondence via goodreads with her, indicating that I DO own the copyright and I do NOT want her to translate it. However, I am concerned that she intends to translate the book without my permission. Can someone help me with this?

Andy Giesler (andy_giesler) | 70 comments Should I be getting some kind of notification when someone rates or reviews my book? So far I have 8 ratings and 4 reviews, but I haven't been informed of any of them.

In case it matters to the answer, the book won't be published for about 3 more weeks.

No, you don't get notifications.

No. Goodreads never contacts you about getting reviews or ratings. When you have over fifty works published and you see your average rating has changed, it's a real fun game trying to figure out which book got a rating / review.
