Ok I just read a series called leopard moon and Kess is the leading character but when I started reading the second book it had a diffrent leading character through the book she was brought bought in at diffrent parts so does any one else have an opinion about this I think when I'm reading a series the lead should stay the same spin offs are for other character to have the spot light

I tend to enjoy a series more if it sticks with the same character throughout because I like to see he/she grow. I mean, growth can still sort of (it depends on the story) be shown if the main character changes and the first one shows up in the book a few times, but it's not the same thing. I kinda get attached to the main character in a series. There are some series where switching the characters works really well, probably better than if they weren't, like Kristen Cashore's Graceling, Fire, and Bitterblue.
It's quite a concidence but mostly every one of my favourite series change characters.I guess I don't really mind just as long as they appear in the next books. E.g. Grave Mercy, Graceling Realm.
when I get into a book and I start the next its cause I want to know what happens next sometimes it works like the destroyer series the main character is carried though the books but each book was about a different group of people that change into natural disasters and the original characters discover a different group in each book but mostly I think continuing a side character as a main should be a spin off like the the rachel mead did with her books
Clary was hidden from the world of shadowhunters her whole life she has to learn everything the rest of them have been doing their whole life so she is dependent but gets stronger through the series
Usually the books I read have the same lead character throughout the series but this year I've read the first two books in Marissa Meyer's series, Cinder and Scarlet, and I kind of like that the lead character in each book is different. You know that their stories are intertwined so basically you are going to the same place, just taking a slightly different route.
