I read this some time earlier this year, and I think it was a fairly recent historical romance. What I remember is that the heroine comes from a noble but impoverished family, which is still putting on appearances regarding their wealth. They live in London. She attends parties mainly to win at cards, to make enough money to pay their bills and also put away some money of her own. I think she has three brothers? Her brothers are trying to marry her off for money. The rest of the family, including her mother, does not appear very concerned about their financial state.
